Outdoor seating by the Norwalk river

This pub is a Wilton staple. It's nestled in a quiet little nook in Wilton town center right by Norwalk river. The ambiance is warm, rustic and inviting. It's cozy. There is a bar in the center and tvs scattered around the walls. It's not too noisy yet not too quiet. The service is great. The servers are attentive and the food comes out reasonably quick. My husband and I both ordered burgers and we tore into them so quickly that I didn't get photos. The meat was cooked exactly as ordered, medium rare -flavorful and juicy. Mine had a fried egg over easy, bacon and cheddar on a toasted bun. It was amazing. My husband ordered the "Ripper" burger which was HUGE. He was stuffed and said it was delicious. They came with a choice of sides- fries, sweet potato fries or onion rings. Also delicious. This was not my first visit to Red Rooster Pub and it certainly won't be my last. Give it a try! There's another location in Ridgefield if that's closer for you, but I love the location of the Wilton one by the river.

Overall had a good first experience at Red Rooster. The food was all good, though nothing stood out as a "wow"; it's all what you expect it to be. With it being the same owner as the old restaurant (Portofinos), it seems to have many returning staff members who always have been friendly and professional. The interior and exterior of the building were renovated and they did a beautiful job. The changes helped lighten the space and make it feel more vibrant and modern. It has a great bar that I could easily imagine being filled well into the evening. The owners did a good job of making a section of the menu of Portofinos' classics for customers who might miss them, which is a nice. I had the cheese curds which while I wish were a bit more melty/pull apart , but were still good. I also ordered the brussel sprouts which were good, but might be better if just lightly tossed with the fig sauce so that the duck and bacon sticks better. Lastly, I got the four cheese pizza which was delicious and just like Portofinos used to make. It was a good first experience. While not busy at 3pm on a Saturday, which can put many new restaurants in a tough spot, I'd imagine with all their experience they will come up to speed quickly. Looking forward to going back again soon! Also, they now except credit cards!!!

Selling food and drink to take home in the front (along with a few seats for pints) and mostly drink in the back, I love a good grocer-pub and Moran's is one of those such places. Don't disappear, please don't! The pub pulls a fantastic pint of Guinness, likely because the keg is directly under the bar and the beer travels very little distance into your glass. It's really amazing how wonderful and different the Guinness is when it's fresh and poured correctly. The bartender when we visited was very generous with information about the area and entertained us with stories and chit-chat about local events and the economy. These are the moments you remember from a trip somewhere: a quality drink, a quiet bar wrought with history, a friendly local shooting the breeze. Simple connections and simple pleasures in life that sometimes get lost in the shuffle of busy days. The pub has done quite a bit to make itself marketable to football fans, with a large collection of team scarves and paraphernalia draped over the walls. Unfortunately I was not able to stay long enough to catch the vibe in there during a match. In short, a lovely stop, and probably the most worthwhile of them, during our stay in Westport.

"Well, I went to see my woman Down behind the barn…read moreSundown's gonna catch me In my sweet baby's arms" (Steve Miller Band) Rustic is the word! The barn-like building's dining room is dominated by thick wood plank paneling, exposed ceiling beams, and a stone fireplace. Three of us stopped in for lunch today, and we had a very favorable experience. Our server was super friendly and helpful, and answered a few questions we had about the preparation of a sandwich. She even ran back to the kitchen to check with the chef and made sure we had the information we were looking for. Their menu is very broad and covers appetizers, tacos, sandwiches, salads, burgers, and bowls. Our lunch was a Southwest Salad ($18.95) with Mojito-lime marinated grilled chicken, crispy romaine, Roasted corn, black beans, pico de gallo, queso fresco, avocado & crispy tortillas with ancho chipotle dressing, Chatham Fish N' Chips ($20.95) with Crispy ale battered cod with fries, tartar sauce, house slaw and lemon wedges, and a Grilled Chicken Caprese Sandwich ($17.95) with Lemon-Pepper grilled chicken breast, roasted red peppers, baby arugula, fresh mozzarella, and pesto aioli served on a toasted Rosemary focaccia. The food was excellent. I had the salad, and the first thing I noticed was there was a LOT of grilled diced chicken on my plate. It was a big portion, certainly enough for two sittings, and I have to say that ancho chipotle dressing was sneaky spicy! I really liked this place. Decent pricing, good food, good value, plenty of choices, a friendly staff, a full bar, and pretty much whatever you look for to enjoy a meal. What more can a Yelper want?

What a great place to spend the evening with family and friends! The food was really impressive…read more The staff made us feel like we were at home and added so much to making our night out memorable.

We went there tonight during my stepdaughter's hockey practice. We ordered nachos with chili,…read moremozzarella sticks, three orders of wings, and a burger. The nachos were the only decent thing we got, but they were slightly on the cold side. The wings took about 45 minutes to come out and we're cold to the touch, as well as very small with little meat on them. Lastly, the burger came out about ten minutes after the wings which was also ice cold AND missing two of the main toppings listed in the description. Sodas took 20 minutes to get- and even then they were left on the bar, my husband noticed and went up to get them himself. We asked for refills which never came. The mozzarella sticks were gross, and arrived with the salsa meant for our nachos instead of marinara. Like what!?! The nachos also didn't come with the sour cream & guac as the description in the menu noted. I understand the place was very busy, but it was definitely under staffed, with pretty terrible staff. Even when our server wasn't busy, she was literally standing behind the bar on her phone instead of checking in with her tables. I heard another table complain about their burger being really cold too.
