There are a few places that I need to review again. My local Starbucks is one of them…read more I have been a customer here for over a decade, well before I knew what Yelp was. I have met some fine baristas over the years, who have gone on to different careers because working here got them through college or university. This store has a high turnover of baristas, mainly because it's often a training store. I am a pretty patient person and I don't mind being a part of their training process. Lately, the current set of staff have not made my experiences pleasant. It has been building since the early part of 2021. One time, I decided to redeem my points towards a tumbler using the Starbucks app. It said that the tumbler was in stock. I also ordered a drink. When I approached the drive-thru, I indicated that I had a mobile order. The man said that it was out of stock. I stated that the app had it available. He maintained that he didn't have it and that he'd give me a refund in the form of a gift card, rather than reloading stars. I talked to this barista, who was the lead this day. I asked why the app didn't reflect their inventory. He simply told me to contact their head office. Um, no. It's not my responsibility to get your lack of updating your inventory and syncing it with your mobile app. The onus is on Starbucks to fix these issues. Telling me to report it is lazy. I'm reporting it to you now. Make it happen. During the same visit, I had another barista ask whether I had ordered "just" an iced black tea. The use of "just" by main staff members here is unnecessary and was ongoing for at least two months. To confirm that you have my order, rattle it off without the "just." I usually reply by saying, "It's only me. One drink is enough." My alternative is, "You aren't just a barista. You are a barista that folks would think that you do important work." Why just? Just do you job by not implying that my order isn't as large as you'd like it to be. I took up that beef with the lead. He indicated that his team often has chats and will discuss it. I will say that I don't get "just a drink" thrown at me as often these days, but coming here to deal with this nonsense has made me drop by less often than I used to. There are a couple of regular barista that I enjoy seeing and chatting with. There are some new ones who are pleasant and great getting my orders from. However, I simply don't enjoy coming here. The lines are often long and I have often waited half an hour for my drink. I am patient, but I see that other Starbucks cafes near me do not make me wait that long and are far more pleasant. The latest experience was ordering through the app, indicating that I had a mobile order, getting to the window, and being advised that staff were brewing black tea. The barista said that someone would come out with my drink in five minutes and that I should park off to the side. I first parked in the parking lot. Ten minutes went by. Nothing. I then parked in front of the patio. No one. Illegally parked, I put on my mask and headed towards the front door. I was met by a barista who had no clue who he was handing the drink off to until my eyes met his. I was thankful for my drink, but waiting fifteen minutes for it was longer than promised or anticipated. There is plenty of parking. I'd avoid parking in front of the cafe because it does get busy with Popeyes and Jeon Ju Hyang next door. Here's hoping that things get better. In the meantime, I'm averaging a visit here once a week or two because it's no longer my favourite place to grab a drink. Sad, but true. (351)

I trust his recommendations and did a bit of research as we ate and talked. I noticed that See You is on Fantuan (or should I say that I see you, See You, on Fantuan) and had half-priced drinks. Yes, please! The green apple coconut latte caught my attention. It was such a cool combination that I had to try it. This drink was regularly $8. I got it for $4 before taxes, which felt like I was running away with murder. I got it with my usual less ice. There was an option to make this drink hot. I'd rather have it iced. The estimate was twenty minutes for my drink to be made. It was enough time for me to drive over here from my workplace. My friend said that it was in a plaza with a T&T Supermarket. He steered me correctly over here. I'll need to visit this supermarket some other day. I was trying to get home before the hailstorm happened. I got caught in the middle of it. See You is next to a malatang eatery. I'd love to go there sometime, too. There was lots of parking. I backed in to a spot near the entrance and walked in. A friendly female greeted me. I let her know that I was picking up a Fantuan ordered and rattled off the last three digits of my order. My drink was on the counter and was ready. I thanked her, took a few photos of this aesthetically pleasing cafe, and headed to my car. The photo on Fantuan showed this drink having coffee on top and green coconut beverage on the bottom. I didn't get the green part. It looked like white coconut beverage. It was a minor detail. However, what I saw on the menu versus what I got was a bit misleading. I liked this drink a lot. As a fruit person, I was hoping that if you are leading with green apple in your drink's name that it's the prominent taste that you get. There were hints of green apple after I had stirred it. The coffee was much stronger, followed by the coconut beverage. It was cold and yummy. I didn't mind the stronger coffee taste. Maybe it's because I've been drinking Vietnamese iced coffee more lately that it has prepared me for this drink. I will probably fair better with a fruit-based drink, as that's my norm. I'll need to head back and get one. This place also has yogurt bowls with fruit. I'd love to try one. It's $4 off a yogurt bowl on Fantuan. There's a yogurt- and coconut milk-based bowl. We ended up finding this place right next door and we were curious after looking at the front of the building, so we decided to go in and get our drinks from here. This place is pristine and the decor and design looks both cute and minimalist. It turns out this place specializes in these yummy looking yogurt bowls with fresh fruit toppings, so there's a glass display with all of the different yogurt bases and the fresh fruits you can choose from to complete your bowl. I did not get a yogurt fruit bowl but it is very tempting and I might get some in the near future. I looked at the menu and we were impressed with the variety of options. They had lemon teas and other Chinese teas, rice-based drinks, coffee, and so on. There's information on calories for each drink if you're interested. It kind of reminds me of the variety of drinks they have at To Go Coffee. I ended up having the Guava lemon tea and my boyfriend got the Osmanthus oolong tea. As usual, they let you customize the sugar and ice level. I was quite pleased with my drink. I am very particular about people putting whole fruits in my drink (especially seeded fruits; a few seeds were able to pass through the skinny straw that they gave me which I didn't enjoy). That being said, I did order a lemon drink so it can't be helped. Also, I'm glad they only put a single wedge; other places like to overdo it. My boyfriend also said he liked his drink. I think this is a nice drink place to try if you're in the area, or if you're eyeing their yogurt bowls. Their drink selection is quite expansive and I'm already planning my return.

Currently now, they have their own small storefront in a historic building in the Annex. I've followed Spirited Tarts & Coffee on Instagram for a while now where I've always tried to plan to go to one of their popup markets in the past - however, the timing was never right. Just recently they opened a small storefront! Watching them most about their renovations about their small cafe got me more excited to finally visit them and try their pastries for the first time. I stopped by a few days after they opened in the morning, however, at that time the espresso machine wasn't warmed up yet and I didn't have time to wait. I finally came back to Spirited Tarts and Coffee on a Thurs afternoon and Joanna and Ryan were both there. I ordered a cortado and crinkled matcha cookie to enjoy in the space. The cafe is intimate and cozy where there is some bar or bench seating available. The pastries neatly laid out on display when you enter and the menu features espresso based drinks, pourover, and even tea lattes. My cortado was made well and the cookie was delicious.
