Outstanding meal at Red River BBQ! The Brisket and Prime Rib were so tender and bursting with flavor. Chicken wing appetizer crispy on the outside so tender and delicious on the inside. The entire staff is so friendly! Can't wait to return!

The service and food is amazing at this restaurant. We ordered the wings, full rack if ribs, fish and chips and the onion rings. The portion of fish I received was enormous for me and it was thick. The onions rings were sliced so thin and had an amazing seasoned batter on them. Ribs were so easy to eat off the bone and the sauce that came with it was perfect. The wings were huge! 50¢ wings right now, with a crisp. We will definitely be back.

Decided to try this place given the previous reviews. We were greeted and seated immediately in the dining room in the front of the restaurant, which was good as they had live music in the other room. Between the music and that room being full it would have been difficult to have a conversation. Our server appeared immediately to ask if we had been there before and did we have any questions. He yolk our drink order while we looked over the menu which is not large but has a good selection of entrees and starters. We asked if the tater tots app could be adjusted somewhat and were told the kitchen probably wouldn't do that so we ordered the corn fritters. The corn fritters arrived and unfortunately they were fried way too long making them very hard to eat and very dry inside. The maple dipping sauce helped to add moisture. The entrees were the pulled pork sandwich and the 1/2 order of ribs. Both dishes came with French fries and artery sauce. The ribs came with a small amount of barbecue sauce to dip the meat into. Would have been good if the pork came with it as well. The pulled pork was very juicy and was served on a hamburger bun. The ribs had good flavor but it was good to have the added barbecue sauce as they were a little on the dry side. There was also a small slice of corn bread which was excellent. Very soft and tasty. The fries were a good sized portion, well fried and crispy .the coleslaw was unremarkable and didn't add to the meal. The cost for dinner was not bad considering the amount food that we were given. Seating was comfortable and once the music stopped the atmosphere was pretty good. We had a split decision on whether we were looking at a 3 or 4. We're at 3.5 I'd say but rounded up to a 4. I don't think we'll make a return trip unfortunately.

Every time I come to the Cape, I search for BBQ, and I am almost always disappointed at how few options I find . Red River put an end to the disappointment. It is a combination of a welcoming atmosphere, a nice variety of food options, and extremely friendly and helpful staff. My dinner group was larger, and I saw on their website that they consider their restaurant small, so I called in advance. They said they could accommodate us but were not sure if we'd need to be seated at two smaller tables, but we were okay with that. It turns out they were able to seat us at one large table in their main room. The atmosphere there was casual and pleasant, with interesting wall decor and paintings for sale. The other room has the bar and is a bit more trendy. We were greeted almost immediately, and we were treated to the same quality level of service the entire evening. I would think the main draws here would be the bbq plates, which come with dense corn bread, coleslaw, and your choice of a side. I was able to sample all of them, and among them, the mac and cheese was my favorite. My potato salad had a very "freshly made" taste to it, and those at my table who ordered fries enjoyed their flavor. If you're not interested in a bbq plate, other options include entrees such as a shrimp basket, and various sandwiches and burgers. Also, all of our dinners came out at the same time, a big plus for a large dinner group. The only thing I thought might have been slightly off was the cocktail two of us ordered, a Lion's Tail. I like these because they use Allspice Dram. The drink should have a complex flavor combining the allspice, lime, and the sweetness of a syrup, but in this case the lime overwhelmed the drink, perhaps as in too much lime juice, not enough dram or syrup. Both of us agreed. Beyond that, all others at our table were completely pleased with their drinks, and this was certainly not something I would consider as any significant issue. It was a treat to find Red River, as well as a treat to dine here. I wish them success, because I hope to be back for future Cape visits.

2 of these were undercooked and on the whole, not very flavorful.

The barbecue in this joint is delicious, at least the Pulled Pork that I had was. Tender, luscious and the RRBBQ sauce was just terrific. Enough left over for a pork and slaw sandwich the next day. Our server kindly popped in some extra sauce for me without asking. In spite of the fact that the mac and cheese was a little dry and not hot, and while 2 of my corn fritters were undercooked, we'll definitely go back. All places have hiccups and should be revisited, especially with pulled pork like this!

Visited Friday, July 26, 2024 in the afternoon between lunch and supper. Only one other party was there, likely due to the time of day and the phenomenal beach day weather after three days of on/off rain. Restaurant was clean, orderly and well laid out. The server Jess was friendly and helpful throughout. My wife started with a Red River Spicy martini which was excellent. They offer a variety of mixed drinks, wines, and a respectable selection of beers in bottles or on tap. I had a Cape Cod Beer Beach Blonde draft which was very good. Ordered 1/2 rack spare ribs that came with cornbread, coleslaw, and potato salad (other side options available). Meat was perfectly cooked and fell off the bone. BBQ sauce was delicious. Everything was excellent including potato salad that included little cuts of mozzarella. My wife tried the RRB tater tots that were very tasty. My daughter ordered fish and chips (always a risk at a bbq joint) but the fish was perfectly cooked as were the fries. In spite of good portions, no food was left over which is very unusual for us. Best meal we had all week and will definitely return. Red River BBQ is officially on our got to list!

So happy we made the effort to try Branches during our day trip to Chatham. Pretty good food but I wasn't crazy about the ambience. It was very noisy and there were many TVs,…read morewhich I find distracting even with the sound turned off as they were. And when the music started it was too loud even for conversation with my dining partner across the too-small two-seat table. But aside from those issues it was a pretty room, richly colored hardwood floors and the walls festively painted and adorned with touches from Jamaica and other sunny locations. Being a Jamaican restaurant, albeit with many standard American items too, we both wanted to try Jamaican. We started with an appetizer plate of Conch Fritters, then I got the Oxtail and he got the Curried Goat. The fritters were disappointing: fried too dark and not much seafood flavor if any, and the sauce was pretty much standard Thousand Island-style aioli. Surprisingly expensive for the smallish portion of 5 fritters. My Oxtail entree consisted of the beef, stewed in a dark flavorful sauce. Tender and easy to eat but you really need to use your fingers to get the meat off these tiny bones. There wasn't really enough meat though. The beans and rice side was good as were the mixed vegetables: mostly cabbage and onions, sauteed in oil with lots of garlic. His Curried Goat was in a very dark sauce intensely flavored with cinnamon, allspice, and more. It was a more generous portion than my oxtail. He thought it was good but salty. I tried a small piece. It was good meat, tender, and the sauce was intriguing and complex but I agreed: far too salty. I'm ok with salt but I know some people that would send it back and I wouldn't blame them. Still, if I were returning I'd get that instead of the oxtail, though I might try something entirely different next time. There was a complimentary course delivered after the appetizer before the entrees: small portions of some sort of soup: A thin chicken-y broth enhanced with island flavors. Nothing really special but I very much appreciate "amuse bouches" and other unexpected additions to a meal. The drinks menu included many beers which I don't tend to drink. Several specialty cocktails and Rum Punch, which I tried. I enjoyed it but don't believe it was from fresh-squeezed juice; probably a mix. The alcohol quantity seemed adequate. The music? At a Jamaican restaurant maybe you're hoping for Reggae or something Caribbean-oriented? Sorry, just three middle-aged men performing old rock-and-roll hits popular in their youth, singing and playing guitars and banjos. Nothing special but I do appreciate live music, and their efforts. But as I said, once the music started, conversation became almost impossible in this small room. Worth another visit? Sure. Several other Caribbean dishes to try. I don't see the point of coming here for American food; plenty of other places around for that. But good to have the option if not everybody in the party wands Jamaican.

Luckily they had gluten-free fish and chips. However, after waiting over an hour for our food, the fish and chips came out completely inedible. It was like they forgot it in the fryer or something. It was rock hard and the fish was completely soaked in oil. The server was very nice, and offered to take it off of our check or have the kitchen redo the order. We had it taken off of our check because of the extremely long wait and dissatisfaction with how it came out the first time. It's fish and chips, not ratatouille. The red pepper gnocchi was good, but definitely an appetizer size. The salad was a salad, thankfully it was edible. I want to give the restaurant the benefit of the doubt, but it was not busy, so I'm not exactly sure what happened in the kitchen. Due to this experience, I would not recommend this restaurant.

What stands out: Some of the Peruvian / Colombian offerings are fantastic. Staff have a deep sense of kindness and hospitality. Even though they close at 8 p.m., they not only took the Pardner's just-under-the-wire order, but didn't rush us in the least. It wasn't until we'd finished and were on our way out that we noticed the hours -- and that we were 20 minutes past eight. The lobster ceviche was a touch spendy for the price, size, and the amount of lobster included in the dish. But it was very tasty, Peruvian in style and garnished with cancha and sweet potato, just the right amount of heat and acid. Empanadas were, I think, Colombian in style, made out of orange-tinged masa, beautifully deep fried with juicy innards -- wonderful. Tacos were made out of a soft flour tortilla and a hard corn taco shell, I guess not unlike a Taco Bell "chalupa." It was not what the Pardner was hoping for, unfortunately. There were two tacos to an order, which averaged out to be $9 or $10 a taco. Probably a bit steep for those of us who are lucky enough to be in a place where good south and Latin American food is more commonplace. This is the kind of menu I want to get to know.
