This place gets zero stars. We use to stay here as kids and have stayed as adults but over the years it has been sold. These owners do not invest a dime back into improvements. Every time it gets worse and worse and this is the last time we'll be there. We paid for an efficiency the refrigerator was filled with water and mold. We spilled water on the carpet went to wipe it off. The towels, turned black. The alarm clock didn't work I asked for a new one they didn't have one so I asked for a wake up call they couldn't do that. I went to use the phone and it wasn't working, not having a cell phone ( forgot it at home ) I said, what am I supposed to do in an emergency no response. No hot water. Beds ancient. The only plus was clean towels. Don't waste your money.

To start, please allow the option, of no stars. That being said, here are some of the pics of the bugs in the bathroom. Curly little hairs in the 2 sinks, some "permanent" dwellers, hanging around... getting drunk and smoking weed. Loud TV and people running track in the room above us... all night. Did I mention ... someone tried to let themselves into our room at 3:30am??!! Oh, and again at 5:30 am. Went on a fly killing spree... loosens up the back a bit. This is ... by far... the worse place we've ever stayed, and trust me, we've been somewhat adventurous and have seen some real dives. I've sent messages to the Moreland have yet to hear back. I'm guessing there not interested in hearing about the issues. A shame... in the heart of the Catskills. So, avoid this place, and have a great time, or give it a shot and create your own adventures.

Not fancy but clean. Does need a renovation unless you enjoy the charm. Paneling from the 70's is basically your decor in the rooms. Air conditioning and refrigerators in every room. Has some stuff for kids. Playground and game room. The beds need to be changed out. I frequently wake up with a bit of a stiff back. Compared to other places in the area this place is good. It's all about the rustic feel when you're in this region. (Note: Angela's restaurant next door is really hurting. I avoid going to the restaurant.) For an excellent meal head a few miles west down hearts content road (nearby) until you get to Hartman's Kaffee Haus. Fantastic place for breakfast or lunch.

Every inch felt welcoming and comfortable for our family of four. The waterfall at the Stratton Falls campus was absolutely stunning and incredibly relaxing. Falling asleep to the sound of the water from our deck made the experience feel truly special. Even with the cold weather, there were still plenty of activities to keep our family entertained. Between the waterfalls, game room, Netflix, life-sized chess, foosball, air hockey, the Crooked Cabana bar, hot tub, and dry sauna -- this place truly has it all. A special thank you to Chuck for making our Mother's Day weekend even more memorable than we could have imagined. From the cookies and coffee to the kids' welcome packets, every detail reflected warmth and care. We could not imagine a more family-friendly and welcoming experience. This was our third stay here, and it somehow keeps getting better every time. We already cannot wait to come back again and bring even more of our family with us next time.

Our bagged breakfast was missing a few items we ordered. That really was not ideal, as we had a long drive ahead of us to the city. So we ended up having to stop to get a couple of things since what we planned on having was not there. Also, the wait for someone to be at check in was long. We went to the Stratton falls first accidentally. It's 2.5 miles from where our location was. Apparently, the guy at check in saw us and knew we were at the wrong property (they were full at that location) but didn't tell us when he saw us. (We didn't see him). When my son finally found someone (that guy) he said "I saw you when you came in and knew you went to the wrong place...". Ok.... So you just let us stand around for 12 min, before we went searching for you? He wouldn't even give us more than "it's down the road." Directions to the other place. That guy was an awful first impression. The lady at our location was lovely, but he made the initial feeling stick with me. So, customer service sucked because of him. I had friends that came to meet us from 30 min away and had to wait an additional 20 min thanks to that guy. Would I suggest it? If the service continues like it was... no. Fun themes though. I hear they moved to new ownership, so maybe that's what is going on.

We couldn't quite figure out how to dial in their cabin's TV to watch the ball drop, but the vibes were immaculate, regardless. Somewhere after 1am, we scrambled down the hill from their cabin to ours, and I nodded off to sleep appreciating a symphony of sounds, both familiar and not: the quiet crackle of burning logs in our cabin's small fireplace, the creak of the stove as it heated, the rustle of tree branches outside our drafty window, and the patter of rain on the roof. Camptown offers a pretty special kind of experience in the Hudson Valley. It's a delightful alternative to the sparse overpriced hotels or AirBnBs with excessive cleaning fees. Essentially, you're glamping in cabins, but with some classy bonus amenities, including a sauna, help-yourself canteen, and shared firepit. As a bonus, Casa Susanna is their on-premise restaurant, and this James Beard semifinalist is undeniably award-worthy. These aren't the most glamorous luxury cotttages you might find, but I felt their prices were absolutely reasonable for what you get. And the service was really top-notch. Everyone we interacted with was super friendly and responsive, even coming by to help us light our fireplace when we struggled to figure out how on our own. It's great to know Camptown is a solid housing option in the area -- and I genuinely can't think of anywhere else I'd rather stay if I'm visiting this part of the Hudson Valley.

It opened in 2023. LOCATION: Camptown Catskills is located in the rural town of Leeds, New York (population around 377), alongside County Road 23B, and just off Interstate 87. CONCEPT: Camptown Catskills is a restored motor lodge (formerly Rip Van Winkle Motel). The restoration reinforces the vintage charm of the 26 log cabins, and 24 rooms. The complex feels like an adult camp experience of sorts, with wooden chairs around a fire pit, exterior pool with bar, scattered wooden picnic tables, books to read, and a dining lodge (Cafe Susanna). Forgot something or don't want to leave the complex? There is a pantry filled with goodies such as s'mores kits and refrigerated cans of craft beer. Camptown Catskills an ideal destination to relax and explore. AMBIANCE: The complex is evocative of the region, with native plants and trees lining narrow pathways to the cabins and outdoor facilities. Cabins have a mix of original and mid-century-inspired fixtures, furniture, and surfaces (e.g. linoleum flooring, wide pine paneled walls and ceilings). The work of local craftspeople can be found throughout the complex. EXPERIENCE: The receptionist in the lobby reviewed all the complex's features, and provided a paper map for reference. Metal keys with leather evergreen tree cut outs were provided, adding to the mid-20th century experience. As we walked towards the log cabin the smell of the fire pit permeated the air, and set the tone for a relaxing weekend in the Catskills. Chairs on the porch of the cabin allowed further enjoyment of the distance fire pit and surrounding Hudson Valley landscape. Complementing this, an upholstered dining nook and a seating area can be found inside. The bathroom was supplied with handcrafted soap and custom woodsy-scented shampoos in the shower. Numerous windows with drapes surrounded the pine wood-lined cabin, inviting streams of sunlight throughout the day. TIPS: Cafe Susanna, located in the main building, offers breakfast on the weekends only. Gracie's, a popular diner just down the road, is an attractive option on weekdays, offering guests views of the Catskill Creek that flows below. To fully embrace all things Catskills, consider visiting Olana, the former estate of a Hudson River School painter Frederick Church; the former home of his mentor, Thomas Cole; the vistas they captured via the Hudson River's Skywalk; and Kaaterskill Falls. Several electric vehicle charging stations are located in one of the parking areas. Coffee is served in the lobby in the morning. A small Catskills-themed gift/momento collection can be found on shelves in the lobby, across from reception desk.

The beautiful dark wood and crackling fireplace create a comfy and elegant ambiance that sets the tone for an unforgettable culinary experience. Our decision to come on a Saturday night was last minute, so the only way to get in was to arrive at 5 pm when they open and sit at the bar. Oh and what a treat and delight that proved to be!! Devon Whittaker, the mixologist, was about to begin a stint at Bard College on a Fulbright Scholarship to study some aspect of the neurosciences. Like Tom Cruise in the movie Cocktail, he dazzled us with his physical artistry and quenched our thirst for delicious drinks both with and without alcohol. It was a true "umbrella" drinker's (me) paradise. The food, exquisitely prepared by Chef Corwin Cave, was understatedly absolutely sublimely delicious. From the liver pate and house special lobster delight appetizer with oh so freshly baked bread, to the just perfectly prepared lamb shank as well as Wagyu beef and fish dish, our taste buds and nasal receptors were stimulated and satisfied to the max. Not to be left out was the wonderful assortment of deserts worth every calorie taken in. From my first night there I was already wondering when we could come back. The house itself is lovely, and each room has a private porch or terrace. It's so peaceful and quiet and set back from the road by a long driveway, so it feels like a true retreat. We opted for the White Room, mainly for the king-size bed, and we loved it. Even though it was cold, we spent a good deal of time on the terrace just gazing at the mountain vista. I've been to yoga retreats where I didn't feel as serene and relaxed as I did on this trip. Also, if you have allergies, this is THE PLACE to book. I have really terrible allergies to dogs, cats, etc. and when I looked at the reviews for other Woodstock B&B's, almost all of them mentioned a proprietor's cats and/or dogs or being dog-friendly. I was so thrilled that this B&B is known for being hypoallergenic and not allowing pets. I knew I wouldn't have to deal with down pillows or comforters either, to which I'm also terribly allergic. The bed linens were clean without that antiseptic/bleach smell that's also an allergy trigger for me. I just felt super comfortable the whole time, which is so rare for me at any hotel or B&B. Carol, the owner, is absolutely lovely and a treat to talk to. I'd honestly love to spend more time with her and hear more about her life. And her assistant Tara (also lovely and a treat to talk to) made us a wonderful breakfast each morning, even picking up my requested goat cheese for my omelette! The drive into town is about 10 minutes or less, so you get the fun of being close to Woodstock with the serenity of a set-back farmhouse in Bearsville. We definitely want to come back in the summer when the saline pool is open!
