This place is hands down my favorite pet store around. I've now been here enough times to interact…read morewith five or six staff members and they were all incredibly knowledgeable about their products. The selection here, as far as food, toys, litter, etc., is top notch. The store cat Leo is cool as hell and we were lucky enough to stop in for his birthday celebration/sale. My girlfriend and I work in Ann Arbor but live in Dearborn, and we decided to make the trip out on a weekend just to catch the sale, because not only was everything 15% off (cat products) , but the first fifty customers received goody bags. As expected, the goody bags came packed full of cat stuff that I know my cats are going to love. We are now at the point that my cats actually recognize the Pet Emporium bags and will try to sneak towards the bag and try to pull out various treats and toys. If you have a pet I highly suggest you stop by and check this place out. Your pets will thank you!!

Secret Shopper Here!…read more I do this for a living, usually have to report back to a certain upper, but at this extent I feel the need to put it on Google and yelp reviews so that the community would be aware I had a very disappointing experience at this pet store, and I won't be returning. The biggest concern was the overall health of the animals. Several pets did not appear to be in the condition I would expect from a store that is supposed to prioritize animal welfare. It's heartbreaking to see living animals treated as inventory instead of being properly cared for. The staff was another major issue. They were unfriendly, dismissive, and seemed to have very little knowledge about the animals they were selling. I was given incorrect information about proper reptile lighting, which could seriously affect an animal's health if a new owner followed that advice. A pet store should be a reliable source of accurate husbandry information, not misinformation. Customer service was just as disappointing. It was difficult to get anyone's attention, and when I finally did, I felt like I was inconveniencing the employees. The manager was rude, unprofessional, and showed little interest in addressing concerns or helping resolve problems. The store also had very little inventory compared to what was advertised, making the trip a waste of time. To make matters worse, they refused to honor valid, unexpired coupons and provided inconsistent explanations as to why they wouldn't accept them. I also noticed products, including food and medications, that appeared to be expired or approaching expiration. That's unacceptable for products intended to keep pets healthy. Overall, this store needs significant improvement in employee training, customer service, inventory management, and its commitment to both animal welfare and the customers who trust them. Until those issues are addressed, I cannot recommend shopping here.

Employee told me that the filter was too powerful for the tank so I asked why it was sold that way. She was rude to me and I asked to speak to owner. Also the first fish they sold us for my daughter's birthday died after 36 hours despite them testing the tank water prior to releasing the fish to us. Highly avoid this business. Knowing they had some samples out for display (to compare kibble size), I drove further to come to this store. I explained to the girl working what my issue was and she immediately began searching through samples, comparing sizes, shapes, smells, and colors. We ended up with a near perfect match! (Ended up being same brand, just different flavor!) Before she knew I needed quite a lot of food too, she was willing to give me handfuls of samples so I wouldn't have to spend my own money. I ended up getting a bag of food anyway since it was more than a few handfuls I needed but I was super grateful. I love non-chain stores. Their prices may be a few cents more, but it's well worth the great customer service and I love how they carry higher quality brands. =)

It makes me want to clench my teeth that "Whiskers" is misspelled in the name of this pet store,…read morebut other than that, it's a nice locally owned pet store. You can tell they are dog-lovers since there is about twice as much aisle space dedicated to dogs as there is to cats. The selection of cat toys and brushes was still impressive for such a small shop, though. They also sell various other pet supplies, from birds seed to fish food. The staff is nice. The man at the counter was advising other customers about dog food and gave me some advice about grooming brushes for my cat. He recommended one but said they were all out, and told me when he expected the next shipment in.
