Extremely beautiful hotel -- from the outside and inside the lobby. The lobby boasts a huge fireplace, helping the large room seem luxurious. However. The carpeting in the stairwell is tattered and dirty. Literally a small pile of dirt on one side of one of the stairs, with the remainder spilling onto the other stairs. I understand people come here to do outdoorsy things, but some upkeep should be still be required. The room or "suite" while large, was oddly shaped and the TV, on the other side of the room, far away from the bed, was extremely small. My dispute quite clearly asking for a non smoking room, my room smelled of cigarettes. It was clean but unpleasant to stay in and try to sleep in. Additionally, I got profiled by a guy named Scott in the lobby which was such an awkward and unpleasant experience. I went out to eat and come back to the hotel with left overs, asked the front desk person, who had checked me in, for a recommendation and walked up to my room to drop off my food. After calling an uber I walked back down to the lobby at which point Scott approached me and started hassling me about if I was staying at the hotel. I've travelled for work for about 8 years now and have never felt so unwelcome or accosted in a hotel before. Horribly unprofessional and a terrible experience. After a productive conversation with manager this morning, I feel better about my experience. This place deserves 0 stars, the front desk staff, awesome, amazing even. Everything else, you'd be better off sleeping outside. Couldn't get under the covers (bedding wasn't changed and their was a sucker stuck to the sheet from previous guests) on top of that the shower didn't drain and there was black mold in the handle and the toilet didn't flush all the way and our window was stuck open on the first floor. Worst experience in a hotel I've ever had as far as the room goes. The rooms smelt like cigarettes and were muggy and humid. Paid nearly $500 for one night and had no choice but to stick it through. If you are staying at the Red Lion, you aren't expecting the Ritz Carlton. So my four stars are based on that. My son and I stayed at the Red Lion for two nights. It was a wonderful mother/son weekend. Check in was super quick. Getting to the room can take a few minutes because there are several ways to get there. Our room was clean. The beds were comfortable and so were the pillows. No frills. None were expected. There was a large crack in the seam of the ceiling that would be good to address. The toiletries in the bathroom were two different brands. Would have been nice to have them all the same. The room was quiet. We slept great. We were happy. The hotel is in a great location downtown. You can walk to many restaurants. The hotel also offered a shuttle to the airport. There aren't really many hotel choices in the area. The Red Lion served our needs and allowed us to enjoy time at Glacier National Park. read more

Less than friendly or helpful staff. Building us not in good repair. Not well maintained (well beyond just covid issues). Walking down the hall and your foot pushing through floor boards. Tripping over carpet that is torn and pulling up light fixtures missing with wires out. Hot tubs not in working order. Swimming pool not clean (thin layer of orangeish slime). Mold all over the building. Room door shows signed of being kicked in or something and not repaired. Sheets were dirty. They don't do turn down services unless you notify them between 6-8pm and 6-8 am. Room smells like smoke and dogs. It is so gross. Breakfast is 6-9 am. It is waffles, toast, and coffee. If your looking for a good nights sleep with little to no noise. DON'T get a room here. Our room faced the south side street just off the main road we heard traffics all night long. Also I believe a number of high school boys volleyball teams stayed at the hotel. they make noise running around bouncing balls etc until midnight. I come to this city for work and they put us up here at this very hotel. It's definitely not the poshest hotel around, but!!! It has some good character. Plus when you're in Kalispell, go outside! Duh!!! Hotel that's connected to the mall,, and oh,, there's a casino as well. No it's not Vegas, but it's good enough. The mall is decent as well. There are some nice shops and affordable food spots. Plus the work out room is pretty nice. Oh yea,, take advantage if the bicycles. It's the best way to see the city. It's not really very big, but it is picturesque AF. Anyways, the location is amazing. The front desk is very nice and helpful. I felt very at home here. Plus the Antler chandelier is a winner. My family and I spent the day in Glacier National Park on Sept. 14 and headed to our hotel, the Red Lion in Kalispell, for the night. We booked the room online on June 12 and received a confirmation email the same day ($209 + taxes and fees). Upon arrival, the desk clerk informed us that our room had been canceled because "the firefighters and National Guard were holding a recruiting event and conference" in the motel and had blocked all the rooms. The clerk could not explain why we were not notified of the cancellation and said several other guests also had their room reservations canceled. Sure enough, another clerk came to help the traveler who was in line behind me and her reservation had been canceled with no notice. I asked whether the motel had reciprocal agreements with any other area lodgings and was told the only option in the region was a motel behind a trailer park and that the cost would be $500 for the night. This sounds like a total sham, right? I asked to speak to the manager and was given a business card. I asked the clerk to call the manager at home. He tried and said there was no answer. I asked if the Red Lion would pay the difference between the cost of the rooms and was told to talk to the manager when she was back on site. It is now 10 p.m., and my family is driving to a Hampton Inn in Idaho. I only wish I could give the Red Lion zero stars since I wasn't even able to get past the front desk. At least when the airlines overbook, they offer you another flight and some sort of compensation. Red Lion could not care any less about helping weary travelers find solutions - even when the error was the fault of the motel. read more

She did ask how we would be paying and even charged us twice after letting her know the hotel had charged us before arriving. Didn't bother to listen, I guess. When we arrived after traveling for 8 hours we went to get the quote and check in. The guy behind the desk told us that we couldn't pay till check out and we would need to put a card on the account to hold the room. He told us that it would put a $75 hold on the card. We got our keys unpacked and then looked at our bank account only to find that the hotel had put an almost $400 hold on the card. We then decided we couldn't stay there as we had been lied to and with taxes and fees the room was almost $100 more than quoted. Avoid this place. They placed an extra charge on my credit card after I left---no explanation. I didn't walk off with anything or do anything wrong in the room. I've been trying to get an explanation for several days now. Their phone tree is impossible to navigate, and usually dumps me into a "fast busy signal," indicating disconnection. I've called about 10 times, and on the two occasions when I've found a person, that person has refused to help me---saying that it's not their department. They refuse to have anyone call me back. One individual gave me an email for the guest relations relations department. I've now emailed them three times---without the courtesy of a reply. This is just your average Red Lion hotel. It is a little older, but you can see they have tried to dress it up with new fixtures. The bed was comfortable. They are dog friendly for a $15 fee, which is exactly what we were looking for. There is no breakfast due to COVID-19, but they offer grab bags (did not get one). This was a perfect place for us to stop midway between destinations to sleep and refuel our bodies. Staff was very nice checking in and out. If you are looking for luxury - this is not your hotel. There is a lot of restaurant option nearby the hotel, which worked perfect for us. There is a sheriffs office down the street - you will see a lot of cop cars traveling around the area. read more

Back on 7/18 I booked a PREPAID stay at red lion, check in experience was great but there been so many other issues and nobody seems to care. First if all 4 ice machine on top floors were out of order so you had to come all the way down to first floor to get some ice, grab and go breakfast was a big JOKE!! Biggest issue was although my stay was prepaid, hotel still charged me for the stay. two days later when I personally went back to hotel, they told me the account department is on lunch and they will issue me a refund and will call me back as soon as they are back. Never received a call, 3 days later I called the hotel again to ask for my refund and I was told the refund been already issued and should be in my account in 5 business days. But after 5 days there haven't been any refund. And they charged me again!!! read more

Beware: THIS HOTEL ALLOWS UNVACCINATED STAFF TO ENTER GUEST ROOMS UNMASKED, WITH OR WITHOUT THE GUEST BEING PRESENT. This hotel does not require any of their staff to wear a mask, REGARDLESS OF VACCINATION STATUS!!! A housekeeper just came to my room to ask if I needed service. I asked if she could vacuum the room because I'd found a large amount of dog kibble on the floor, some under the desk and a large handful of it spread out in the corner by the dresser; I picked it up by hand. It was hidden by the carpet pattern, and I found it when I was exercising this morning. Clearly the room had not been vacuumed between stays! When I asked her to put on a mask prior to coming into the room, she stated she didn't have one with her. I thought to myself: 'Well, if she's vaccinated, it should be okay.' I asked her if she's vaccinated. SHE'S NOT!! So -- she's at least one unvaccinated staff member who is entering guest spaces without a mask and without gloves!! How many more are there? How many employees and guests are endangered by this hotel's unsafe Covid practices? To her credit (trying to find a shred of decency here), she offered to leave the vacuum with me so I could vacuum. She offered to go get a mask and come back. I've declined housekeeping service for a 4-night stay, and I will ask for linens as I need them. I am waiting for a call back from the General Manager. The UNMASKED Front Desk employee told me last night at check in that they do not require staff nor guests to wear masks, citing "It's Montana." She went on to say that they have a new GM who is very concerned about guest safety and security, and he has the staff focused on replacing security lights around the outside perimeter of the hotel (that was her example). I'd rather they start with requiring their staff to wear masks!!! NOTE: I am vaccinated for Covid-19 and have been wearing a mask in all public indoor (and some outdoor) settings since early July. Other than inconsistent cleaning practices, and unconscionable housekeeping and guest/employee Covid-19 safety practices: The room and beds are comfortable, the check-in process had a glitch yesterday with several customers using third party bookers so it took longer than usual to get checked in, and still the Front Desk employee was friendly and helpful. read more

I was actually going to save this review as my last one in Montana, but I got sick of seeing it on my Yelp screen, as a review next. Plus, I still have a couple more weeks and things could go terribly awry in that short amount of time that might down grade them. I want to say the rating was bumped to a solid five star by the helpfulness and friendliness of the staff. It goes above and beyond anything I have ever experienced in any hotel, in any country. Seriously, they are really on their game here. Most people passing through for a night or two may not get the full magnitude of how customer oriented they are here. The hotel was updated in 2006, but some age is showing no doubt about that. When we first got here, I had spaced asking for the free upgrade Platinum members get, so they gave me the first floor room I requested, which was a queen room. Small but okay. I was happy my husband remembered to ask me about the upgrade, he thought this was it. We ran back to the lobby because there were a lot of people checking in behind us, but now the lobby was cleared, that says something since only one girl was working and we were only gone a few minutes to look at the room. She right away asked what room we might like and gave us a choice. We picked the executive suite since we'd be here awhile. I would find out later, these are the largest rooms. We could have picked a jacuzzi room or a fireplace room but they said they are the same small rooms with those things in the corner. I thought we'd have to jump hotels, as the rates in this area almost double after June 21st due to the Glacier national park and all the fun people want throw at this area. I was sad we'd have to go to the Travelodge up the street, but their rates were not going up to $200 a night from $119. They were staying near the $100 mark. I mentioned this when I went to extend our time here to the 21st and they right away said, we will help you stay here. No hesitation they just did it. They adjusted a long term rate for us and we were able to stay the full 30 days for less than we'd originally been quoted. Once we totaled what it could have been versus what they saved us, it was over $2,000. The entire time, the front desk was working with management, and everyone was doing all they could to save us money. The only warning was, after our 30 days, they may be sold out, so we need to let them know right away, so they can keep us in our room. Most hotels I checked were indeed sold out the first week of July, so I felt good knowing we were not going to be sleeping in the car. The breakfast at this Red Lion is included in the price, you can just walk down and do your damage and leave. It is in a unique location, it is on one end of a small shopping mall. The Kalispell Center Mall. It was crazy to walk out and see the standard issued Montana casino and then the Claire's and JC Penny right there. If I were a mall person, we'd be broke. However, it is a very small shopping mall and it is not crowded until Saturday. They have had a lot of conventions here since we've been here. I told my husband I was slow roasting to death in the room but I would say something the next day, since it was late. He said he was going for ice, but went down to tell them the AC didn't work well. A maintenance guy followed him right to the room. It was still on winter setting and he cleaned the filter. It works great now. The room is spotless and they are constantly cleaning. I have seen them cleaning and reorganizing the games shelves in the lobby many times in the last week. They have a big flat screen tv hanging down there with comfy leather couches. The rooms do not have upgraded TVs, but the beds are pillow top and comfortable. Which is another reason it was easy to give them a 5 star. I am picky about hotel mattresses. The gym has a elliptical, treadmill, and stationary bike. There is a water cooler, towels, tv, exercise mats down there with a mirrored wall to remind you, not to do too much damage at the free breakfast buffet that includes meat and made to order omelets. I have used the pool every day and it has seen better days but I am still alive, so no worries there, I love the pool goes to 8 feet and it overlooks the courtyard. One of the housekeepers, delivered my school book I had to have shipped to me and knew I had classes. By the end of the second day all the housekeepers asked how my school was going online. They stop and talk to me in the hallway. I have never had a conversation with a housekeeper in a hotel, these people are 'Montana' friendly. They make you feel welcomed here. Now, all that said, it was a long review sorry about that, but I think they deserve a shout out in a time customer service is lacking. I would not hesitate to stay here again. read more

My golf group went on a road trip to Kalispel, Montana. I had never been to the Kalispel area before, and it is beautiful. We had decided on the Red Lion, as they gave us the best golf deal, and we were all familiar with the Red Lion (formerly Westcoast, formerly Red Lion) chain. It was as expected - very clean, very friendly staff, centrally located. It has a lodge like feel to it, the lobby is very comfortable, and has a number of meeting rooms and convention space. As part of the deal, we were given tickets which entitled each of us to their breakfast buffet. We were pleasantly surprised - we expected the usual rolls, dry cereal, and coffee. But they had everything - eggs, sausage, bacon, rolls, cereal, potatoes, and yes, even pancakes from an amazing machine. Actually, we all had pancakes most of the time, just so we could watch this marvelous little machine. The hotel is attached to a small casino, and has a restaurant, although we never ate there (just by choice - we all wanted to explore Kalispel and Whitefish and some of the local restaurants and bars we had heard of). There is also a mall attached to it for those that like shopping, although with all the outdoor activity available (skiing, hiking, Glacier Park, golf, fishing, etc.) I'm not sure it gets much use. It is also centrally located - we walked to the bars and restaurants for three nights, and found everything within a few blocks. The only downside was that we had negotiated a special rate, which they had not entered in the computer. Fortunately we had brought the e-mail confirmations which had the price, and they immediately and cheerfully corrected their error. When we return next year, we all agreed that this would be the place we stayed!!! read more

To say that our stay here has been a sh** show would be an understatement, and we are only about an hour in. Check in was fine, our room was ready early. We get up to our room, open the door and are greeted by a vile smell. We can't quite place it, it's somewhere between stale cigarette smoke, and water damaged carpet. The room has some nice touches, new lamps, pictures etc. The bed is fairly comfortable. Then I start noticing weird stuff, like our TV being unplugged. Weird. I plug it in and realize it's broken. It randomly scrolls channels, and turns itself off and on. I'm not here to watch TV so it's a minor concern. I notice that the toilet is running continuously. Jiggling the handle doesn't help. Now I'm starting to get annoyed. I hop in the shower and am instantly beyond grossed out. There is someone else's hair ALL over the shower wall. Like huge mats of it. That's just effing gross. Not to mention the fact that Red Lion has touted improved cleaning standards due to COVID. Obviously not that improved. When I get out of the shower my room smells like it's on fire. At this point I've had enough. I head down to the front desk. On the way I run into the cleaning staff and they send maintenance right away to check out the smell. Maintenance was less than helpful claiming someone burned microwave popcorn. Eventually I make it down to the front desk. All I want at this point is some bleach and paper towels to clean the bathroom. The front desk "supervisor" tells me no. He said they have to send someone up. WTF. I wind up cancelling the rest of my stay right there on the spot because none of this is acceptable. What a waste of almost $200 for what's going to amount to less than one day. We stayed here just for 1 night on our way to Whitefish to ski for the week, our condo wasn't ready until the next day and we wanted to ski New Years. It was New Year's Eve and my expectations were extremely low considering we paid $74 after tax for 5 people. To my surprise they allowed us to check in several hours early for no cost. They had great WiFi, my husband had a ton of work to get caught up on before skiing for a week. Their business center was nice with a printer. Being attached to the mall was amazing, my kids and I did some quick shopping and then walked down to Norm's News for old fashion sodas. I expected the hotel to be crazy noisy because of the holiday but it really wasn't. They brought us a rollaway bed and the room was cozy, clean and updated. The pool is older but my kids loved it. The sauna was nice. They served a great breakfast the next morning (included in the room fee) complete with made to order omelets, waffles, French toast, eggs, potatoes, bacon, etc. I was really impressed. This Hotel is pre 1900. So it's an old building, I would expect some "aging". The lobby is very well decorated and warm. There were two front desk clerks - a man and a woman who have been great! Super friendly and helpful. Two other girls on different days were not. One ignored me completely when I stood in front of her and asked a question. Weird. However, the room itself is well kept and clean, especially the beds and that's obviously important. One of the hotel elevators lands into the mall which was SO awesome as it allowed me to pick up a few things since this trip was booked with only hours before I flew out. Today there was a sweet note from housekeeping and that really left an impression. They get 5 stars from me just for that. They're also doing some renovations and I look forward to the outcome. We had a terrible experience with Red Lion, Kalispell. We made the reservation more than a month ago based on reviews from friends and family that have visited Glacier National Park. Although we made the reservation via third party, I specifically called Red Lion to confirm and verify the booking. They even asked me to share my credit card details for incidentals and block a 2 Queen bedroom for us and I did so. Having confirmed a 2 queen bedroom for us and letting them know that we'll be checking-in late, we arrived around midnight to Red Lion Kalispell on 7/13. To our dismay, the receptionist mentioned that there were no rooms available and they were sold out. He said there will be a room in America's Best Value Inn, Polson. Not only did we have to drive for around an hour to get there, but also had only one single King bed available for us. The room had no windows and we found insects lurking around (centipedes), which made it particularly difficult for the ones that had to sleep on the floor due to lack of space on the bed. We are terribly disappointed in the way RedLion has handled this situation and have written to them about this. I'll post an update if and when they respond. 1. Reservation was not confirmed despite the fact that we had paid for a room with 2 queen beds almost a month in advance 2. We had to drive for around an hour to get to the other hotel (not to mention there was NO prior communication, which could have helped us be prepared) 3. We paid for 2 Queens while we got a single King 4. Fares at RedLion are much more expensive that at America's best value Inn 5. Overall trouble and discomfort during a vacation that was supposed to be pleasant read more

If you need to work remote via VPN, keep looking elsewhere. Red Lion might have a nice/ quiet atmosphere, but the internet is super slow and rigged to force you to purchase their not so great fast internet for $10/ per device (not all devices- just one)- 24hrs only. Its sad they are this greedy, especially for the money I had to fork over for this place. I need to work without the internet being under 1mb, which the VPN kept dropping and had trouble with work. Either I had to pay the rip-off fee or go to the Library/ Starbucks where I could get find reliable internet. I also consulted the front desk about the issue, alas they could not help me. If you have kids that want to watch a show on Netflix or Hulu just to keep your sanity, same goes for you too. You will experience the buffering blues.... If you need a suggestion for a place to stay, Best Western is great! I went to the one off of Hwy 93 near Somers and it had fast internet (NOT tiered or rigged) and also came with an awesome breakfast, something that's disappointing here. read more

Breakfast consisted of powdered scrambled eggs, over cooked sausage and a smattering of odds and ends. There were only two pieces of fruit from which to choose - one apple that was half-bruised, and an Orange well past its prime. Saw no peanut butter, no honey. There was a place where you could put a slip in for a made to order omelette, but it's hard to say how long it would've taken for anyone to even see it since there was no one standing there to take it (omelettes were made in the kitchen). Not good! We checked in here at about 6pm today and so far the issues we've come across are that only 1 elevator in the whole facility works, the pool heater is broken so the pool is too cold and unusable, the sauna is completely broken, the hot tub is completely broken and blocked off, the shower water leaves us feeling slimy - I even brought my own soap from home it doesn't feel like we're getting clean. I talked to the front desk staff and they said they have work orders in with maintenance but it's been days and no progress. Maybe it was a nice hotel 30 years ago, but it has not been taken care of. read more

We have stayed here previously and it was a great place. This time the room smelled old and musty, the floors don't look like they have been vacuumed in weeks, the bathroom was dirty and the front desk was less than helpful when we decided not to stay for the other 2 nights. Management was conveniently "in a meeting". The bottoms of our bags were filled with dog hair from being on the floor of the room and we have kids who are allergic and woke up with their eyes puffy and goopy. Refuse to stay here again. read more

So far this hotel is a POS. Checked into the room and it was 56 degrees. I called the desk; someone would be right up. 20 minutes after no show, I called again. They said they couldn't fix it. WTH?? No one ever showed up so one would think the room was rented knowing that. How else did he know he couldn't fix it. The key system doesn't work. Winter storm is the culprit and adds to the frustration. Only one maintenance guy and he also does the airport shuttle. There is a young kid working the keys. Very rude and condescending. He just about lost his teeth after they way he talked to my wife. More to come. read more
