I love to see a cortado on the menu because it's not a very common drink. Most folks who are trained by the green siren folks are getting a pumpkin spiced latte or a frappuccino and the old school folks just get a plain drip. I'll get a cortado if I can. This morning's cortado was perfect. It's half expresso (two shots) and half steamed (not foamed) milk. For five stars, it's served in a short glass. This was all of that and it was great. Lots of caffeine, not a lot of fluid. I stayed here at Red Kite for my first "office" of the day, spending two hours writing emails and catching up on the weekend's events before heading onwards. Coffee and atmosphere is amazing! This space is the perfect place to get work done. The coffee is a little pricy, but it tastes really good!

It was our first coffee shop visit as new Springdale residents, and it did not disappoint. This place is adorable. The inside is quaint and welcoming, with a large meeting space towards the back. The baristas were outstanding and so friendly. My cafe au lait was perfect. My husband ordered a drink, and the barista warned him it was sweet, which he doesn't like, but she said she could make it not as sweet, and she did just that. We had the chocolate croissant, banana bread, and ham and cheese croissant. All were delicious and served on adorable plates. Everything is locally sourced, from the coffee beans to the chocolate syrup. A few people complain about the wi-fi. This is a coffee shop meant for relaxing and enjoying friends. The barista said the wi-fi in the entire strip is spotty. So please do not go here to be accessible and productive. Go to unwind and get away. read more

I'm from out of state, and in Springdale on my first visit. I hit Yelp to find a coffee shop nearby, and landed on Red Kite. It was a nice place, and the staff were super friendly. I asked, "Hey there, what coffees have you got brewed up today?" The young lady smiled and replied "Southern Weather and Monarch." Well, that doesn't really tell me anything about the coffee or how it might taste. Country of origin, degree of roast or flavor notes would be helpful, for example. She couldn't tell me any of that until she looked on a Monarch box and found the origins. Turns out it was a blend, which is a good thing as long as the blend adds up to something greater than the sum of its parts, if you know what I mean. I didn't feel like that was the case with Monarch. It was okay, but not remarkable. My partner had a hot chocolate, and said it was also "okay." As another reviewer noted, the muffins seemed straight from Sam's. I'll look further afield tomorrow. read more

Great vibe, lots of seating both indoor and outdoor, both a regular menu and a seasonal menu, and breakfast sandwiches and pastries. I had the iced blackberry oat latte, and it was great-- it has blackberry sage, vanilla, and oat milk. Certainly different, but not a wild, "out there" flavor combination. I love that they found a unique drink to make with fairly normal flavors. I'd get it again! My friend had a blueberry muffin, and it was delicious, as well! Great location in Springdale to grab a cup of coffee! Used to be an Onyx then switched to Red Kite. My best friend lives in Harber Meadows, so when I'm in town we regularly come here for coffee and to catch up. I have been here several times through the years and always have a good experience. Not the absolute best coffee I've ever had, but am always pleased with what I order! I brought my dad here for his first time today; he got a smoothie and I got an iced carmilla latte. The smoothie had a very rich fruit flavor. The coffee was well balanced with the caramel and vanilla, and iced was the way to go on a hot summer day. Our barista was really friendly and engaged us in a chat about the history of Northwest Arkansas as he made our drinks. The decor is artistic and has a chill vibe. They do have some snack options, but it looked like those were lacking today around lunchtime. Plenty of seats inside as well as out on the patio when we were there at lunchtime on a Friday. Walking distance to several other Harber Meadows businesses including Harp's. Ordered a cold brew on my way through the drive thru. The drive thru does not have a speaker, just pull up to the window to order. It can be a little confusing if you're coming from the plaza and not the main road. The service was friendly and quick, no major issues. Recently it's been really hit or miss. For nearly $7 a drink it should never be a miss. The prices are super inconsistent. I've been coming here for the last 3 years. First as onyx, then as red kite. Last summer prices went up-- that's fine. From $5 to $5.25 or 5.50 for an iced mocha. I say one or the other because it's different depending on the day of the week!! For example: ordering an iced mocha. Sometimes it's $5.25, $5.50, and sometimes it's 5.75. One week a friend and I compared prices. I paid $5.50 that morning. She paid 5.75. This morning I ordered an iced oat mocha. Sign out front reads 6.50. I paid 6.75. And it's not a matter of card versus cash. I paid cash. And the damn coffee wasn't even correct but you wait in line for so long and there's no way I'm getting back in it. 7brew is right up the road. Updated review: Before 2020, I gave Red Kite a 5-star. Now, only a 3. Let me explain. Though they used to be the original Onyx, they were bought by Red Kite. They still use Onyx coffee. They have a wide variety of coffee drink mixes and delightful snacks. The decor is still a great feel. All of it looks good and tastes good for what they serve. Finally, the staff serves makes the coffee well enough. So, with all the good, why the 3-star? Well, they stopped serving what I love and the staff is not as friendly as I remember. I really only went to Red Kite for the pourovers. Those are gone and apparently have no intention on coming back. I used to go to Red Kite multiple times a month, but in the last year, I have hauled back because of no pourovers. For about a year, every time I went I would ask, "are pourovers back yet?" and every time, "nope." This is very frustrating as there is a huge difference in flavor between drip and pourover. Plus, there is a difference in how the barista cares for your coffee in these two ways and therefore, I believe, cares for you as a customer. The coffee-making is lower quality and therefore the customer care has gone down. Yes, the staff is nice still on the whole, but there is an overall lower friendliness than before. And maybe it is because of the masks they keep wearing so I cannot see their smiling faces and I can barely hear them. I'm not sure. But Red Kite is a different place than even a year ago. I go less than once a month now. If they bring back pourovers, I will try again. But, I am unmotivated to return. So, if you like lattes or drip, Red Kite is better than Starbucks, but only by a little. I really hope they raise their standard again to be a GREAT coffee shop (like they were when they were an Onyx) rather than just-above-mediocre. read more

I have read on other reviews that the pricing is very inconsistent which is true as well as the staff being very unfriendly.
