**SCAM ARTIST ALERT** Spoiler Alert: The chef called one of our guests a whore at the end of our meal and was not going to give us our 13 Euros in change. Let me start with the pros: - Good music playing outside that lured us in. - Now on to the cons: I attended Red&White on the evening of February 26, 2018 with 3 friends of mine. It was our first night in Taormina and after walking around looking for a restaurant, we were drawn to the music playing from the restaurant front. While perusing their menu outside from a good distance, a man came running to open the door and greet us. It was Gianluca, the owner. After being seated we were met with an enthused speech from Gianluca in which he told us how excited he was to have us there and how passionate he was about serving food to the public that was organic, authentic, and delicious. This was CLEARLY a lie. First, we tried ordering several different bottles of wine on the menu that we were then told were not available. While this was odd, it was only our first problem, so it wasn't too much of an issue. The real issues began when we ended up ordering. Amongst the four of us, 3 ordered pizza and 1 ordered salad. Immediately upon ordering our meals, Gianluca's temperament changed. He asked in an annoyed tone if we would like to get a starter, and we politely declined. It wasn't until we got our food that we reached the point of being appalled. The 3 pizzas were disgusting. They weren't fully cut, they were undercooked, and honestly resembled diarrhea. Additionally, specific key ingredients like basil and oregano that were supposed to be included on my pizza were not included (one single leaf was as you can see in the picture). We were all shocked when the salad that was ordered by one of us came out and was completely inedible, and clearly vegetables from a jar. After receiving our food, we were not checked on once more. For such a personable and attentive owner at the beginning of our meal, it was like a switch was flicked inside of him after we chose not to order any of his "daily specials" or other pricier items on the menu. We were completely ignored. It was not until we asked for the check that anyone came by again. We received the check and immediately paid it in Euros. We waited on our 13 Euros in change for about 10 to 15 minutes until finally one of us went to ask for our change back. She was greeted with a surprised "oh..." before they finally gave us our money - we had never said anything about wanting them to keep the extra Euros. To top it all off, on our way out of the restaurant, one of us tripped. The chef proceeded to call her a whore not knowing that she spoke Italian. I have never been so horrified and embarrassed by a restaurant experience. I wish I could describe the level of unprofessionalism that both the owner and chef displayed, and I was truly embarrassed for the people of Taormina that this joke of an owner and restaurant are trying to sell this place as "authentic, organic, and locally sourced Italian food." I am from the southern United States and have never had any Italian food there or anywhere else in the country that was as bad as this. Bonus if you made it this far: the bottle of wine we finally settled on (after the 3 bottles we asked for first weren't available) was amongst the worst red wine I've ever had, the white wine tasted like fermented apple juice, and the free bread was stale. I recommend this restaurant if you are looking for the worst dining experience in Sicily. Otherwise, stay far away for the owner is simply looking to make money by selling terrible, slimy food to unsuspecting tourists. This restaurant and its reviews are proof that reviews can be bought. I encourage you to peruse these yourself so that you can get a better grasp on how fake of an establishment this is. He also told us in his enthusiastic opening speech that the restaurant had only been open for a year, when the first yelp review is 2015... Definitely a scam artist. read more

I'm going to keep this simple, you can not eat better in Sicily then this place! My parents are from Caccamo Sicily a providence of Palermo. I have been all over Sicily these last 2 weeks and I assure you I haven't eaten any better! If you're a foodie and want to eat somewhere local THIS IS THE PLACE TO BE! I assure you this is not a touristy place, you can't eat anywhere better! Giancarlo is the owner and chef, he has a true Sicilian passion for food and wine with an amazing attitude and personality! What a great find in Taormina. We were told about this place by the guy who drove us from Syracuse to Taormina. We happened to walk by during the day and met the owner and made a 8 pm reservation. Renee, my wife, George, Ali -- friends we're with, and I spent a wonderful evening here. Can't say enough about the food. The four of us split 2 bowls of The Soup of the Day -- Mussels and Clams in a garlic white wine sauce. Mmmmm, my wife usually doesn't like mollusks but she ate half of mine. We enjoyed soaking up the broth with the fresh bread. George and Ali also cleaned up theirs, smiling the entire time. Prior to the soup we were treated to an appetizer of Blown Ricotta, it was heavenly. Renee n I split the fresh pasta-- fettuccine with red prawns and black truffles. It was the best pasta we've had so far in our 9 days in Italy. George also had the fettuccine and loved it. Ali had Cannelloni with a pumpkin preparation. She described it as Delicious. As we were leaving, we were treated to fresh strawberries and almond wine. Overall this was a wonderful experience. Almost forgot about the 4 man band that sang to us. Love Italian music. I was recently in Sicily, Italy for my birthday and this place is the most amazing, culinary orgasmic, body-rubbable, delectable, clean, and beautiful restaurants in the Taormina area. My friend and I, whom are both major foodies from the East Coast first fell in love with Gianluca's customer service. Gianluca is the owner, chef, waiter, and many other things are this relatively new staple in Taormina. Since we were jet lagged, exhausted, and starving after a long 20 hours of travel from Phoenix, we allowed him to make suggestions on which wine, dishes, and pastries to have. He was spot on for each course. I felt like I was in foodie heaven with each bite. We went back twice while in Taormina, and even took friends back with us for them to experience this down home Sicilian cooking made with ONLY organic products. The dishes/drinks that my friends and I tried included the following: Ricotta cheese and spinach cannelloni, meat lasagna, charcuterie and cheese plates, homemade cannolis, 7 layer choc mouse, Sicilian wines, Prosecco, Grappa, and Amaro. His price points for food, wine, sweet treats were very reasonable and he never charged us the notorious "Cover Charge" all of the other restaurants in Italy would charge. This is a new organic restaurant which has been in Taormina for about a year. The owner came out and greeted each person dining which was very nice. The food was okay for the price. Wine was pricey. We ordered a light lunch of a mixed salad with tuna ("red & white" €10) and charcuterie board to share (€12). They have new specials every day and lots of fresh fish to choose from. We will be back to try one of their organic main dishes for dinner. read more

Recommended by the etna tour folks down the street, excellent food & vino - proprietor has lots of pride in the food and it shows. Was most impressed when he accidentally dropped a wine glass while doing an aeration pour & cleaned it up himself - not many owners would do that. As others have said, not cheap (like the rest of Taormina). 100€ for 1 salad, 2 entrees, water, 1 dessert & 2 glasses of wine. read more

All local fare. Organic selections prepared the way grandma intended. Delicious! Staff is very friendly and helpful. The daily off-menu selections were fabulous, fresh seafood specials and the pasta course blew our mind. Finished with a little gift for our Luna di Miele, peach and strawberry sorbet. read more

Went here for my birthday with my husband and enjoyed every bite. The owner, Gianluca treated us like family as well as his staff. We noticed this attention was given to all guests. Gianluca told us about his passion for cooking, and desire to share with others such that he provides daily cooking classes for guests. We joined a few days later, with another couple, the cooking class. It started with breakfast prior to a trip to the local market to find what is fresh for the day. The class consisted of making a three course meal from scratch, including eggplant parmesan, homemade and hand made macaroni with fresh tomato sauce, and finally local sea bass made in the Sicilian style "a la Nonna". We enjoyed the fruits of our labor with a selection of wine pairings (with very healthy pours) finishing with a delicious tiramisu. I'd recommend this place for anyone visiting Taormina, whether for lunch, dinner or a unforgettable experience with the cooking class. Thank you Gianluca and chef Davide! read more

This Guy has it going on! Everything is Organic and home made!!! Just awesome! The food was spectacular and the Owner who served us both times was such a sweet guy- he deserves nothing but the best!!! I love how his "specials" he makes it a point to say "Just like my Grandma use to make" and let me tell you- HE IS NOT LYING! Trust me it's his Grandma's recipes because there is no way he could perfect dishes like he has- people who own restaurants with many many years of experience cooking can't hold a candle to this guy!!! I'm honestly taken aback by the high reviews here. The service was terrible, incredibly slow. I know Italians like to take their time but tonight was ridiculous! The food was expensive and the portions small. The pizzas tasted like they were microwaved. I have been a frequent visitor here in Italy for 15 years and have lived here before and am sad to say this was the worst meal I have ever had in Italy. read more

It was decent but not quite worth the prices: 25€ for one pasta dish and one glass of wine. The pork ragu was cooked down a little too much to the point that it was like a thick paste. They should have added a little bit of water to loosen it up. read more

We have travelled all over Europe and Jean Lucca has created the perfect dining experience in his new restaurant. This gem awakens all of your senses from the moment the warmed plates arrive with fresh, aromatic olive oil and wonderful wines. Every attention to detail is given with love and care from the chefs, and the owner. The pizza is one of the absolute best I have ever had anywhere, and every thing we tasted was a culinary delight. Very good food and organic too, but expensive and too slow service. At first when we got there we were sat down with a nice view into the kitchen. We got the menus and found out what we wanted, but we could not order until the owner was ready to take the order, meaning that we had to wait 15 min for him to be done at another table, they wouldn't even take drink orders. He finally came and had to present the menu of the day, which was like eight different dishes, that we just had to pick from together with all of the other dishes (a restaurant in Italy isn't really a restaurant is they don't have 30 different dishes), so we ordered something from what he told us and some from the menu. What HE didn't tell was the high prices for e.g a starter. So for two starters, two mains, a bottle of water, a coke and a glas of wine we paid 91 EURO, because apparently the special starters were 22 EUR each. It wasn't the fastest either, from we finished first course to Main was served, we waited around 30 min, meaning that it in total took us 2 hours to eat, which normally takes us one. The whole time we were kinda not seen from the waiters, even though we were right at the door, meaning that even though we were done dining the plates were still on the table, and the waiters were just setting up other tables. It's a place to go to if you have a dinner party with friends or a nice night out with good food, since the owner really likes to chit chat. Moreover, if you love fancy organic food this place will be perfect for you. But if you just want to have a good and not too expensive dinner, which doesn't take forever then go somewhere else. read more

Service was friendly, but the food was not good. I'm surprised to see the 5 star reviews. I ordered "fresh" sea urchin to start. It was almost a plate of nothing; shriveled little bits. Next, I ordered the artichoke and shrimp salad. It was so bland and disappointing, I didn't want to eat it. They offered to bring me something else, but I was ready to cut my losses. The waiter was very nice, comped my glass of wine and brought me a little almond liquor (2 stars for that!). I still ended up spending €34 on a dinner of bread and olives.
