Then head down to the lake where the paddleboards are lined up along the lake. An employee will get you set up with a life vest/belt and paddle. After going over some basic info it's time to get on water. You will start out on your knees to get a feel for it. Once you are away from the water edge, the instructor will show you how to stand up and paddle. It's great to at least try to stand but if it's more fun for you to stay seated then that's perfectly fine too. Alex helped us and he was so patient. I was honestly a bit skeptical and was worried I might tip over and catch some sort of horrible disease from the Trinity, but honestly it was a a great time and I had alot of fun. I went out in a kayak both times (they apparently offer canoes as well) and I will say that I think I enjoyed the double over the single but that's probably more a personal preference. The trip itself was really enjoyable. I saw quite a bit of wildlife both times and it was quite relaxing floating down the river. The paddling wasn't difficult at all but I did get some not-so-fun blisters...you may want to consider some fingerless gloves (like you would wear for lifting) if you're sensitive to that kind of thing. Sure it's not cheap, but they handle any shuttling (taking you to the launch site or picking you up) and for a 2-3 hour "adventure" it's more than reasonable. Staff was super friendly both times I was there and I definitely had no issues there even with the reservation I made online. Really a great setup and a unique experience that you wouldn't expect in the middle of DFW. I'll definitely be back!

Penny realized that I needed to use the 12ft board and once I used it, I had no issues standing. I am 6 ft tall, so it makes a difference which board you use. I've been on a paddle board before but Kevan's instructions helped me be more efficient. Both my friend and I felt like we learned something new. There were 4 other people at the same time as our lesson but it was fine. Kevan showed us the ropes and gave each group assignments. No one fell in. Speaking of that, while you might not necessarily fall in I would say it's best to wear something that will get wet. Even sitting on the board you'll get damp. So swimsuit or athletic shorts and shirts that dry quick are great. There's also a lot of good restaurants walking distance so stay a while and enjoy the area. You can also stay at the Omni or several other hotels and walk there. Highly recommend! Have fun!
