Sunrise paddle is done and now it's time to eat! #havedogwillpaddle Perfect weather with the wind behind us coming and going and a perfectly timed cooling rain shower. Terrific experience for a Labor Day Weekend excursion

We made a reservation for a 1 hour double kayak and a paddle board. The morning of our reservation, our 3rd person decided not to come and the staff at lone star were so accommodating, they gave us a credit for the paddle board for us to use next time. The staff were so warm and welcoming, they made the check in process so smooth and we were out on the water within a few minutes. This was our first time at the lake and they gave us an overview of where to paddle, etc., as well. Over all a wonderful experience, and we will be back again with some friends. It's a beautiful lake with vibrant nature. A great way to spend the day!

Peter at Lonestar Adventure Sports is phenomenal. He set me up with an excellent captain for my very first outing on a Hobie Getaway catamaran, and I was instantly hooked. I haven't been sailing in years but the team made me very comfortable and excited to get to do this again. After my 1hr sailing trip with Captain Chad, Peter introduced me to Captain David, and let me tell you--this man is the real deal. On Sunday, he took me under his wing and walked me through the rigging and setup of a Hobie cat, generously sharing his knowledge and passion while we prepared one of his boats for the water. Although the wind wasn't in our favor that day and we didn't get to sail, I left feeling incredibly grateful. I thought that was the end of the adventure--until I received a text from Peter inviting me back out on Tuesday. As luck would have it, my work schedule shifted, and I was able to join them. The wind was perfect, and we had three boats on the water, sailing in sync and enjoying every minute. It was an unforgettable experience. When I wrapped up that day, I left not only with a renewed love for sailing but with some new friends as well. I'll absolutely be back the next time I'm in Dallas. Whether you're into kayaking, paddle boarding, or just testing the waters, the team at Lonestar Adventure Sports will treat you right. Highly, highly recommend.

First, working with Steve was so easy and relaxed! As you can imagine, coordinating a kayak trip with Texas weather and multiple involved Girl Scouts posed a bit of a logistical nightmare but Steve was understanding all along the way! He was understanding when we dropped a few girls and added one back on and when weather canceled us the first few times he was very clear and quick with the communication. Second, Steve was incredibly informative and patient with our Girl Scouts. This was a group of girls ages 11-15 but most of our group fell into the 11-12 year old range. He kept the girls on task and made sure they were watching at the important parts without coming across as too tough. The girls LOVED the experience and I highly recommend Steve and Discover Kayak to Girl Scouts and new kayakers alike. Thanks again Steve!

Last weekend I entrusted him to teach two dear friends who ARE NOT great swimmers. One had had a hip replacement. He was so patient and accommodating. He eased their fears, taught them and they already are begging to go back out. Thank you, Steve, for helping me introduce my friends to the world of kayaking. We are planning another small group for next month already.

Entering is as easy as scanning the QR code provided when entering the park and typing in your car license plate. As of June 2025, the entrance fee was $10, and this was on a weekend if that matters. Inside the park the car parking is very limited and to get a spot you either get lucky or just have to wait for other cars to leave. To prevent anyone trying to park illegal they positioned big rocks on the grass. There is a playground with swings and slides and multiple pavilions with shade. There is a small fishing pier and a beach like waterfront for swimming and fishing. We decided to try our luck and cast our rods out in the lake and surprisingly we caught a 3lb catfish within 10 minutes. We stayed about 2 hours and just got bites but nothing else. There are restrooms onsite and they have water fountains but when I was there, they were not working. There is a boat dock to release your boats and jet skis out in the water and while we were there, they had a good amount of people out in the water with their boats. Overall, we enjoyed our time here and will most likely return in the future for some fishing and hanging out with the family.
