Paddling is freedom It's the water, the board, and me We seek to find our rhythm - or harmony And our rhythm and harmony changes from day to day as the winds and waves of life change Some days it's still and calm And some days it's windy and rough But we work together to find us - at that moment DFW Surf is good It's a beautiful location And gentle-hearted people Allowing rhythm and harmony to be found As you paddle through life - If By Rudyard Kipling If you can keep your head when all about you Are losing theirs and blaming it on you, If you can trust yourself when all men doubt you, But make allowance for their doubting too; If you can wait and not be tired by waiting, Or being lied about, don't deal in lies, Or being hated, don't give way to hating, And yet don't look too good, nor talk too wise: If you can dream--and not make dreams your master; If you can think--and not make thoughts your aim; If you can meet with Triumph and Disaster And treat those two impostors just the same; If you can bear to hear the truth you've spoken Twisted by knaves to make a trap for fools, Or watch the things you gave your life to, broken, And stoop and build 'em up with worn-out tools: If you can make one heap of all your winnings And risk it on one turn of pitch-and-toss, And lose, and start again at your beginnings And never breathe a word about your loss; If you can force your heart and nerve and sinew To serve your turn long after they are gone, And so hold on when there is nothing in you Except the Will which says to them: 'Hold on!' If you can talk with crowds and keep your virtue, Or walk with Kings--nor lose the common touch, If neither foes nor loving friends can hurt you, If all men count with you, but none too much; If you can fill the unforgiving minute With sixty seconds' worth of distance run, Yours is the Earth and everything that's in it, And--which is more--you'll be a Man, my son!

I had so much fun! With COVID it can get hard finding safe outside activities. The staff were great at making sure we were trained for using the kayak or paddle boards before getting in the water.

Nice, clean building, attentive staff and well kept kayaks. I like that the kayaks are the type you sit in with back support (has a back). Some kayaks you sit more on top and do not have any backing. DFW Surf also has lockers to store your wallet, purses, etc., while you are on the lake. The building also has restrooms. Love the area surrounding the kayak building.. nicely groomed, clean and has seating areas and a small covered place to sit. We really enjoyed our day. Definitely will return.

The river was so calm and peaceful. We took our time and really enjoyed the luxury to just be. We saw turtles sunbathing, birds, a bobcat, and had a picnic on the boat ;-) It was a lovely experience. Charles took us to the river and picked us up. He is great; super cool guy and I can tell he knows his stuff! That made me feel confortable with canoeing. Looking forward to our next outing!

We were a crew of 4 flight attendants on a long layover in search of a day adventure. The Trinity River did not disappoint. The water level was high and a little swift at times which we enjoyed. Prepare to see many different birds and we had quite a few fish jump near our canoe. The water was just fine...we did not fear for our lives...the water was clean and what you would expect in a large city. Although you are in Dallas it seems more like a remote river out west at times. Please take heart in our review....we have traveled to every state in the country and tubed, whitewater rafted or gone canoeing in almost all of them if available. First, working with Steve was so easy and relaxed! As you can imagine, coordinating a kayak trip with Texas weather and multiple involved Girl Scouts posed a bit of a logistical nightmare but Steve was understanding all along the way! He was understanding when we dropped a few girls and added one back on and when weather canceled us the first few times he was very clear and quick with the communication. Second, Steve was incredibly informative and patient with our Girl Scouts. This was a group of girls ages 11-15 but most of our group fell into the 11-12 year old range. He kept the girls on task and made sure they were watching at the important parts without coming across as too tough. The girls LOVED the experience and I highly recommend Steve and Discover Kayak to Girl Scouts and new kayakers alike. Thanks again Steve!

We are planning another small group for next month already.

Entering is as easy as scanning the QR code provided when entering the park and typing in your car license plate. As of June 2025, the entrance fee was $10, and this was on a weekend if that matters. Inside the park the car parking is very limited and to get a spot you either get lucky or just have to wait for other cars to leave. To prevent anyone trying to park illegal they positioned big rocks on the grass. There is a playground with swings and slides and multiple pavilions with shade. There is a small fishing pier and a beach like waterfront for swimming and fishing. We decided to try our luck and cast our rods out in the lake and surprisingly we caught a 3lb catfish within 10 minutes. We stayed about 2 hours and just got bites but nothing else. There are restrooms onsite and they have water fountains but when I was there, they were not working. There is a boat dock to release your boats and jet skis out in the water and while we were there, they had a good amount of people out in the water with their boats. Overall, we enjoyed our time here and will most likely return in the future for some fishing and hanging out with the family.

After the gate is closed if you need to be let out, you have to call the police. But there's so much to do here! Not just the swimming area! There's a hiking trail, playground and walking trails. Beautiful views and plenty of space to social distance yourself. The trails are available for no fee as far as I could tell, but the swimming area near WhoaZone is $5. They do not take cash, only debit/credit card. The swimming area has a playground and picnic areas. I think there's a spot to cast your kayaks off over there too, but I stayed near the beach and didn't explore anything else. I saw vehicles with kayaks going over on the other side. If you have water shoes, I'd say bring them and a beach umbrella as there's no shade. The sand isn't too uncomfortable to lie in, there's just cigarette butts here and there. But I definitely recommend visiting for the day or even camping if you're into it!

The rock bottom extends out a couple of yards into the water, where it turns to clay. For swimmers, the rockiness is less of an issue - get past the rocks and swim/float your heart out, but the rocks along the shore make it significantly less enjoyable for babies. Running along the shore and splashing in the shallow water is painful without water shoes. For a true SANDY BEACH, check out Twin Points Park at Eagle Mountain Lake or Little Elm on Lake Lewisville instead. Twin Points is nicer, if you're deciding between the two. Pros: it's a pretty spot, with nice views. Plenty of parking - $5 per car. CREDIT/DEBIT ONLY. There is a dock for jumping off (which we didn't notice until we were leaving, sadly!). Not very crowded on a Saturday in August. Pretty clean, other than the bathrooms. Alcohol permitted (or if not permitted, certainly not regulated). Days swimming at the lake are SO MUCH FUN! Aside from the rocky shore, the only big negative was how gross the bathrooms were. We were there pretty early, so clearly they aren't cleaned daily. Also, the whoa zone is SO EXPENSIVE!!!! It looks fun but I cannot wrap my head around the fact that people pay that much to be there. It's $22 a person for ONE HOUR! Mon-Thurs they also offer a $50 all day pass. For our family of 7, I consider that cost prohibitive. Overall, it was a fun day at the lake, but Meadowmere Park is just not the best DFW has to offer.
