We stopped in to Red Dog Saloon & Pizza while visiting friends in Libby. The staff couldn't have been nicer accommodation our group. We had limited time ad we needed to catch a flight. We ordered cocktails, pizza and tater tots. My martini came out icy cold, just the way I like it. The pizza crust was thin and had a great flavor, the toppings were tasty. Tater tots came out crispy and hot. Our server McKenna was fantastic! She was very attentive and made sure our order came out quickly. McKenna even took several pictures for us to remember our visit to Red Dog. We will definitely stop in again the next time we are in town. read more

Reopened after a long hiatus. New family running it and let me tell you... the memories of my childhood in NW Montana came flooding back. We had almost 50 people for a wedding rehearsal and the staff was amazing. Probably another 30 people there as well enjoying themselves. The rumor is the old owners trained the new owners and the pizza tasted exactly how it did 30-40 yrs ago. Amazing! read more

Wow! So I'm visiting this incredibly small town in Montana for Thanksgiving. My friends take us out for pizza at the Red Dog. The pizza gets a B+ for a tangy sauce and plenty of veggies. We had cheap pitchers of beer (kokanee) which also earns some points (for being cheap). HOWEVER, the greatest thing about this place are the ladies who work there! They were awesome! Our server was funny, polite, and kept replacing our mugs, keeping them nice and frosty! The locals we met were also really friendly. Since Libby is a place most people drive through, it might be nice to swing by here on your way to one of the ski towns. read more

We celebrated my husband's birthday with some friends at the Red Dog. We honestly could not have found a better place! It's winter, so the place wasn't bustling like it in the summer and it is a not so well hidden restaurant. When you visit the Red Dog, you just have to have the pizza. When I saw on the menu that the crusts are gluten free I was a little worried. Don't be. It is a crisp chewy mouthful of goodness! So, if you reading this, you are probably thinking you are going to try the pizza ( although the menu has a good variety). But the pizza you HAVE to have is the BBQ Chicken and Pineapple. To die for! The BBQ sauce is a spicy sweet explosion of flavors in your mouth. Add in the chicken, pineapple, and cheese and you are wondering why you never tried this before! The relaxed atmosphere and the food is a great, wear your loose jeans experience. If you are coming in the summer, take a drive through the Yaak afterwards. You will be awed by the beauty! read more

Fun old fashioned TAVERN. Giant Burgers and yummy pizza. Anywhere you can throw peanut shells on the floor is a good time. Hahaha.

This place is a little off the beaten path, but we enjoy going out there occasionally for pizza. Their pizza is good, a little greasy at times, but that's just the way I like it! The Red Dog gets bonus points for having the old arcade game machine. We love coming in and throwing in a couple of quarters! read more

We went out for pizza last night and it was a very enjoyable experience. If you're expecting New York pizza this isn't it. But what you get is very enjoyable. It had a whole wheat crust and a tangy sauce. Plenty of toppings (we ordered the combo) but the mushrooms were canned. What can I say, it wasn't authentic New York but it tasted good. We also ordered the chicken wings as an appetizer which was excellent. I wish we had ordered a double order. 3 little wings was not enough for me. The ambiance is casual and friendly and it is nice and roomy. Service was great. I could easily see coming back here just for the nightlife. They also have steaks, burgers, etc. but we did not try those. read more

Some of the best pizza ever. They do have some really weird hours though. We showed up at 3pm on a Saturday and they had just opened for the day? We were then told that the kitchen doesn't open until 4pm? The staff was in the kitchen, but they weren't going to cook any pizzas until 4pm. If the staff is there and the ovens are on, then cook some pizzas if people are there wanting to eat. read more

Very disgusted/disappointed....stopped here recently on business trip with associates, atmosphere seemed cozy, however my female associate and I were treated extremely rudely by a blonde service worker (Peggy) while she couldn't keep her hands off of our male associates. She was very, very unprofessional in discussing her unhappy relationship elaborating about his lack of money and bedroom dissatisfaction and credit while asking very personal and invasion questions about our men financial & marital status. Whenever guests visit, my mother likes to bring them to the Red Dog because she is amused by their reactions to the tradition of throwing peanut shells on the floor. Another highlight is the "No dogs, no guns, no caulks" sign on the door. Since I lived in Libby for a while, I no longer find these aspects that interesting, but I do think the sauce on the pizza is pretty good, and the pizza isn't greasy. read more

We tried this pizza tavern on our most recent June 2018 visit to our vacation home in Libby. We went at about 7 pm on a Friday. It was full. There was a table with a reserved sign on it so maybe you can reserve for a specific time? An interesting place, more than a short drive out of town - maybe about 10-15 minutes'ish. The beer was cold. The pizza (we ordered a large combo) served myself and 2 hungry men with one piece left when we were done. Price was very fair at about $22 for the pizza. The 3 of us had mixed reviews. I posted 4 stars based on an average: Me = 3 of 5 stars, Hubbs voted 4 stars, and son voted 5 stars. The pizza crust was a thin crust and tasted like over cooked (but not burnt) soda crackers to my palate. I am a bit of a pris, I eat pizza with a fork and knife - had to eat it traditional style (pick it up) because the knife would not cut the crust as it was too hard. The toppings were at an appropriate quantity but I found the cheese to be a bit sparse as well as the sauce being applied a little sparingly. Pizza was piping hot (let it sit to avoid the blistered roof of your mouth). It has an interesting history as being a rough and tumble logger bar...back in the day that is when men were still men. The wood floor has holes all over it from them wearing Caulk boots in for the evening beverage stop after a hard day of logging. You can tell the front of the building is an addition from the absence of said holes. The overall ambiance is a pool hall / tavern with sports on the televisions. Sit down tables and a traditional belly up to the bar available. Not positive but I think I saw outdoor seating as well. No smoking indoors but a spot outside if you must. They serve peanuts in the shell when you arrive...they serve them in dog bowls to go along with the name of the bar... Red Dog. You are to shell them and swipe the mess on the floor. Service was prompt albeit a little clumsy - she was young, maybe even new to working there. Overall it was a better than middle of the road experience but I cannot say we will go back unless the son comes over again because we are just not pizza, beer and pool people. I also can say that we don't experience it in Washington, but people had their kids there for supper so Montana laws must be different about children in bars. If you have a group of children with huge appetites you can afford to feed them to full here! Bathrooms were acceptably clean but could benefit from a good deep clean. read more
