Roadside stand by trails with good ice cream. Limited food options but nice to have options.

Saucy Dogs - Chili cheese dog

We were intrigue by the variety of hot dogs that Saucy Dogs offered (mainly, the exotic sausages like elk and bison meat) that we are not used to having in the Pacific Northwest. Saucy Dog offers different types of hot dogs from kid size hot dogs and vegetarian hot dogs to the vegetarian as well as the elk and bison hot dogs (all of their hot dogs range roughly from $5-$11ea). They also serve their hot dogs in cute, folded license plate trays, also accompanying the dogs with a pickle spear. We tried their elk and bison dogs...and we both liked the bison hot dogs a little more than elk, partly because the bison meat was a little juicer than the elk. Also the sauce on the bison dog was less overpowering the taste of the meat. If you have a chance, definitely check them out. Based on the time that we spent at the Farmers Market, they seemed to be quite popular among the crowd.

YUM! We were walking around the weekly farmer's market when we came upon the food trucks and this…read moreone right away caught my eye. They have a good amount of dogs to choose from, I went with their chili dog with jalapenos. I'm not a chili dog person so I don't even know why I went with this option but I was glad I did! The dog was enormous and definitely very messy. Since there wasn't a table option I just found myself a spot on the grass and tried to devour this as nicely as I could. The food is served on bent license plates which I found to be really cool, nice and different. When you're done with your food you're asked to return them to the bus tub by the food truck. I had been looking at some other snacks I wanted to try but after this dog that was pretty much impossible. I hope to run into this truck again when I return for the summer.

This shop is located in downtown Sandpoint, just off of the main street. There are a few tables inside, however it seems like most people opt for grab and go. We were greeted by a friendly server and grabbed a table after placing our order at the counter. There were quite a few to-go orders ahead of us, so there was a bit of a wait, but nothing unreasonable. The server brought our food to the table and we dug in as we were starving. The highlight was definitely the garlic fries, they were crisp and had a hearty amount of garlic- delicious! I had the 8 inch turkey sandwich and it was good, nothing mind blowing but definitely a good amount of turkey and veggies. My boyfriend was unfortunately disappointed with the cheesesteak as he felt it was really small and lacked flavor. That's just his personal opinion, however. Each sandwich came with a Dove chocolate in the basket, which was a cute touch. I love to support and to see local restaurants thrive, so it's worth trying Joe's for yourself if in the area.

Sweet Lou's was actually down the street and it had some foods that sounded really good. I was seated immediately and my waiter Elijah got my drink order. I asked him what he recommended and he mentioned the Tailgate Eggrolls and a burger. But I was really craving a steak and he said they had a special on prime rib. I'm a huge steak lover, especially prime ribs so I opted for that with the Tailgate Eggrolls. I suppose I was hungrier than I thought after a long day and I ate everything. The 5 Tailgate Eggrolls, a Caesar Salad (not pictured), the prime rib, and a cup of Vegetable Beef soup. The eggrolls were filled with cream cheese, jalapeños, cheese and served with a jalapeño pepper jelly. If you love cream cheese, this appetizer for you. I like crab rangoon, I like jalapeño poppers, and now I like these egg rolls. The Caesar salad was great. Fresh romaine, crunchy seasoned croutons, shredded Parmesan cheese, and fresh cracked pepper. The star of the show was the prime rib. I've had many prime ribs, rib roasts, beef roasts in my life big I've never had one smoked, which was a detail I missed when Elijah was telling me about it. Let me tell you, the smoke flavor was infused with the meat and the seasoning on the prime rib was superb. The addition of BOTH horseradish and aus jus is a nice touch. My mouth is watering just thinking about it. Last but not least, the vegetable beef soup was chock full of celery, potatoes, and huge chunks of beef. Hearty and delicious indeed. If you're living here, then I'm jealous Sweet Lou's is here for you. If your visiting, pay Sweet Lou's a visit. Elijah is a fantastic server!
