The Market is picturesque with lovely flower carts by the entrances. Historically, Covent Gardens were the gardens for the convent. Today, the beautiful enclosed market hosts various vendors that change regularly. The market is a great way to connect with locals. We went to the market four times during our visit. On Sundays, various art vendors set up and we visited with a local fossil dealer and purchased a couple fossils. We loved our dinner in one of the nearby cafes. On Mondays, antique dealers set up and sell various treasures. My husband bought me a vintage bracelet. We also watched a quintet play in the atrium. We found a few reasonably priced souvenirs to take home for gifts. Plenty of great restaurants surround the Market. We ate at several places and enjoyed our meals. The Market always seems to be new and people were friendly.

They also sell postage for the postcards, which is rather convenient. The selection is decent, but it looks like everything else you'll find in every other souvenir shop in London. I took away several stars because some of the items (e.g. bags) are conspicuously low-quality, with popped stitches and seams. The ladies tees are also very thin... especially the white ones. I bought one, and when I tried it on at the hotel it was almost sheer in the back. It also didn't fit well in the chest, so my plan was to return it.The sizing here seems to be slightly different than American sizes. A size Large here is equivalent to a size Medium in the States (I didn't knock off a star for that. Just an FYI). Since there are no fitting rooms in the tiny store, I definitely suggest trying a shirt over your clothes if you can to get a general idea if it fits or not. This store does not offer cash refunds, as I unfortunately found out, and I ended up having to leave with some other crap that I really did not need as an exchange.

Gone was the mix of locals and tourists, cool music playing, great shopping and tasty food! The place was full of shops loaded with cheap, generic junk! Want a 'vintage' Amy Whitehouse vinyl for 80 pounds that you can buy on eBay for $5 - check! What about a 'French taco ' aka a tortilla filled with French fries ( seriously) check!! Want to walk shoulder to shoulder to shoulder with unsuspecting tourists buying all of the above - yep they have that too!! We ended up escaping the main drag and finding a local brewery - and even that was empty and devoid of culture! The cool market; with unique finds and great street food has been replaced with a generic experience that you could find at any tourist trap and it makes me sad that areas like this are losing the very identity that set them apart !

Literally, I wanted to buy a Harrods keychain with a cheeky saying on it. Trying to find a keychain in a department store this big is truly trying to find a needle in a haystack. Nothing made me feel more poor than wandering through wings of luxury products looking for a ... keychain. There are four notable things about Harrods that make this a must-visit. First is the over-the-top Egyptian decor, which is most notable around the main escalators. Second is the food hall, which has so many enticing things that are all reasonably priced. It's fun just to walk around and peek at the displays. Third is the Harrod's Gift Shop (Lower Ground floor), which is where I eventually found the Harrods branded keychain with the cheeky saying. Fourth, they currently have a Jellycat Airline display. We couldn't get in because there was a convoluted way to get a ticket, which you could only do at a designated entry way and wait in a long line. It was both immensely interesting and exhausting to have visited Harrods.
