All of the lovely artwork on the towels is done by Mary and her daughter and made in Oroville, California. 5 stars for service! The two women who were working here were extremely helpful in showing me choices for a cheese spreader. I didn't find my perfect match but my husband and I both found lovely gifts for each other to remind us of our trip to Mount Shasta. My husband's was a cool, double walled stainless steel mug with artwork of Mount Shasta by local artist, Cailin Henson. The special addition on this was a red carabiner which does double duty as a "handle" and an attachment. My gift was a pretty 2 cup ceramic teapot in sage green with a stainless steel filter. Both are from a British company- Price and Kensington. If you're looking for gifts for yourself or someone else while shopping in Mount Shasta, be sure to make a stop here. It definitely competes with most kitchen stores with the breadth of merchandise. The salespeople told us that the buyer has recently expanded this department. Great work!

They have a tremendous selection of not only traditional hardware merchandise, but a wide selection of country store items like work clothes, fishing gear, picnic items, and more. When I got there, the employee barely acknowledged me, took me back to the plumbing shelf, waved at it and said, "Find the one you need." There was not one valve seal on the shelf. Then I purchased four bags of top soil, and when I asked the employee if he could help me load them in my car, he said he just had surgery. I lifted four 28 pound bags into my car. A nice gentleman, a customer leaving the store, asked if I needed any more help, but I was done. Not a great experience.

If you ask him where something is he will point and wave his hand back and forth and say over there. If you ask for specifics he will ignore you. Then there is a woman in her mid-thirties who is a long time employee or co-owner who seems nice but will flip and become hostile in an instant. She interrogated me about what I was going to use cold whether window washer fluid for. It was non of her business, the fluid was for the cars window cleaning system, and when did window washer fluid become a controlled substance?! The last time I went in she asked if I had an Ace Rewards # and I said yes but it doesn't work even though I updated my contact information twice (Third time worked). After I said that, she turned to me with hatred on her face and just stared. I stared back, pushed the unpurchased items back, said I didn't want them and left. When I looked back she was still staring. Creepy! I am a polite person who goes to great length to not be noticed which is hard because I am a big dude. I especially do not want to be seen exhibiting untoward behavior at any time. With this I am certain their responses are not due to me being a jerk. Luckily, they are not the only game in town!

Our business will now go ONLY to Ayoobs or True Value in Westwood. The newer employee, a larger, balding guy, answered some questions yesterday about a sprinkler timer that was a new product. I was unsure of this new one, but purchased it anyway. After reading the bad product reviews, I decided to return it today, unopened. This guy asked me why was wrong with it and I said that nothing was wrong with it, I just wanted different brand and would buy it elsewhere since they didn't carry it any longer. The attitude I received from this POS was absolutely uncalled for. Word in a small town gets around fast. The older lady at the checkstand heard/saw the whole exchange and said absolutely nothing. no apology, nothing. She also has had a bad attitude the past few times I've been in there. I'll never set foot in this place again. I'd rather shop in Westwood True Value, Ayoobs, or actually make the trip to Chico rather than give this place another cent. I'll even do Amazon for next day delivery. I Changed my mind on a product and returned it in the same new condition, unopened. His belittling went on further, but I'll leave things at that. I hope these owners do something about this person, or sell the place. Other Yelp reviews confirm my point. Seniors, or anyone for that matter, shouldn't be spoken to like that, for literally doing nothing wrong other than returning something.

In addition to the hardware (pretty much standard Ace stuff), you will find fishing poles, bicycle tires and tubes, gardening supplies, etc, plus high up on the walls are antique rifles, beer bottles, hockey sticks, fire-fighting equipment, a chainsaw, and so on. The people were super friendly and chatted us up a while. But they never mentioned the rattlesnake. There is a live rattlesnake in a box in the window. BOOM! Five stars! Done! Go check it out.
