Okay, I'm at the hotel and I'm too lazy to go out, so that leaves me with the red bar. Not that there's anything wrong with the red bar, but hey, that's just what I'm gonna do anyway. I sat down, waited one or two minutes, and a guy showed up to take my drink and food order. I got the burger, I don't remember which one, it's got horseradish sauce on it. It was pretty tasty. I have a broken elbow at the moment, so I can only eat with one hand, and I don't know why I keep ordering foods that are not super easy to eat one-handed, but a saucy burger with a slippery bun is definitely one of those things. Not their fault. They didn't break my arm; it's all good. It was really tasty, the fries were good, I got a second drink without asking for it, paid and left. It's a bar-like atmosphere, fairly open. It's at the lobby level of the hotel. It's a solid experience. read more

The food was great all three times except for the second time we ordered the steak medium well it was well done burnt dry, horrible but I'll leave it to the fact that it was busy, so maybe that's why. Intro: O the joys of trying. On my way back from Italy, I got stranded in Chicago. British Airways put me up at a hotel (Hyatt Regency O'Hare) for the night and gave me a $50 dining credit. I used half of it as Red Bar after checking into the hotel pretty late at night. Ambiance (4/5): Typical hotel bar. Pretty spacious. Plenty of seating both at the bar and at the tables. I sat at a table and was greeted pretty quickly by my waitress. Service (4/5): Friendly, attentive, and efficient. Exactly what I want out of a service experience. Especially in a situation like this where I wasn't in the best of moods and I was trying to get in and out quickly so I could go to bed. Drinks (N/A): No alcohol for me this time around. Just an Arnold Palmer. Food (4/5): The food exceeded my expectations. Better than your typical bar fare. I went with the citrus grilled chicken sandwich with fries. It was a generous portion. The fries were crisp. The chicken sandwich was well-marinated. A bit pricey, I guess you're paying the hotel premium. Overall: If you're staying at the Hyatt and you're looking for convenience, it's not a bad play. Pretty solid bar food. And there are plenty of TVs at the bar so you can watch some sports while you're at it. read more

I rarely give one star reviews on Yelp!, but I'm sorry, this experience and bar deserve it. Red Bar is a bar/restaurant inside of the Hyatt Regency O'Hare Hotel in Rosemont. I went with a group on Saturday to this hotel for Chicago Flashback Weekend Horror Convention (Great convention if you like horror - definitely recommend), and wanted to get some drinks and a snack with my group to close out the night after spending all day at the convention. We were seated at a table by a very nice hostess fairly quickly, (don't remember her name), and after that is where the problems began. We waited 20 minutes - no server checked up on us, but there was one patrolling our area serving everyone else but our table, and when she was not serving other tables, she went to the back lounge of the restaurant to chat with coworkers, go on her phone and eat food. So me and one other person from my group went up to the bar to get some drinks. We paid our bar tab and went back to our table expecting our server to come and at minimum take a food order - her name was "Lupita", horrible customer service. After another 10 minutes, we finally flagged Lupita down (who was not happy to speak with us already for whatever reason) and asked why she hasn't been stopping by our table, but everybody else's. She said that once we went to the bar, she cannot "intermingle" with us any longer, I have never heard of anything like that in my life (and neither did the manager, when we spoke to her). That also made no sense because she did not "intermingle" with us at all the first 20 minutes we waited, she deliberately ignored our table for whatever reason (maybe we didn't look like big tippers to her?). We asked for a manager and Lupita just brought the hostess over (lol), we asked the hostess for the manager and she told us the manager was too busy to come and speak with us, but gave us the managers business card with an email and phone number. I totally understand it's a Saturday night and a convention took place earlier and I am the furthest thing from a "Karen", but this customer service was just pathetic all around from not only Lupita, but also the manager that couldn't be bothered to come do her job, no time to talk to us measly convention peasants apparently. Not to mention basic, domestic beers (12 Oz) like Miller Lite are $10! I will never have another experience with this bar/restaurant and urge you all not to waste your time or money, horrible customer service and Lupita - a special shout out to you - you earned it! read more

Wings were just ok, just a bit soggy for my taste. The veggie flatbread has quite a few veggies so that was good, but tbt crust is thicker like a hand tossed crust. My fiancé and I were at the Hyatt Regency O'Hare hotel in Rosemont for a convention and decided to grab a bite with some drinks after one night. The experience overall was just very meh; worse than your average hotel bar & restaurant. Restaurant was very clean looking overall and had a nice environment; good lighting and the music wasn't too loud. Service was also a plus, we were sat being told that the kitchen was behind, but still felt we were served in a timely fashion. Lots of cons to outweigh the pros unfortunately. Firstly, the cocktail we each ordered, First Class, wasn't balanced enough for that style of drink, and there was a discernible difference in strength between the two; price wasn't a shock, typical "Chicago" bar cost. The food needs its own paragraph because it was a terrible letdown. We'd looked up the menu beforehand online, and I was delighted that there were multiple options for me as a vegetarian/pescatarian. The paper menu we were handed had maybe half of the items that were listed online; only about 1/3 of the things I could eat and no entrées my fiancé cared for. We ended up splitting two appetizers, and they were beyond underwhelming. The fries were hot and fresh, but bland, completely devoid of any seasoning. The cheese quesadilla was also fresh off the griddle, yet also not impressive, with no flavor to it whatsoever. Not the worst place we've dined at. The overall aesthetic of this place though lead to a much higher expectation of food and beverage than they can deliver. A suggestion for improvement would be to make the menu listed online to be consistent with what's served in person. read more

Terrible service. Had a group of 11 for a corporate event and needed separate checks to get reimbursed, told the waitress and she said she can't do that and stormed off never to return. Alright, fair review. We were staying at the hotel, of course, and didn't want to go out, of course, so after reading the reviews we decided to give it a go. Again, after the reviews, I wasn't expecting much. It didn't disappoint. First the employees seem to work there at their leisure. I don't think it's because they enjoy their job. You can believe the other reviews that don't talk too fondly of the service. It's little to be desired. To each other? It's all laughs and giggles but they aren't huge on customer service satisfaction. We started off with the chips and salsa. Have a look at the pictures. It's a thicker salsa with chunks. I'm sure they opened a fresh jar just for this order. It wasn't bad. My wife and I each got the O'H burger with parmesan fries. They were totally bland. There wasn't much to them. Again, we weren't expecting much and so were not disappointed. A little salt and pepper at least helped a little. The fries weren't too bad, flavour-wise, but they needed to be cooked an extra 3 minutes. The place is a hotel bar. That's what you are ordering from when you go there. Don't expect a miracle. Absolutely terrible overall. What a ghetto place. BEWARE! Service sucks. They know you are probably not coming back anyway, so they DO NOT CARE, including their manager (a blond middle age woman). Bartender "David" has a nasty attitude, and gets very snippy when you point out things that are not ok. Work puts me in this hotel for work (unfortunately) and every time is the same. No matter where you sit, bar or table, they ask right of the bat if you are paying with card or room charge. They will "open a tab" with your card (they charge it right then and there) and give you the check to sign AND ADD GRATUITY before you get a napkin! Once you sign that check, you will never see your server or bartender again. Food is mediocre at best, and school cafeteria quality. Ordered the wings, soaked in so much BBQ sauce, just to mask the freezer burn wings. Spicy salmon, a sacrilege to the poor fish Cheeseburger (god... I thought it was impossible to mess up a burger. We were hungry and tired and staying at the hotel. We decided to come down for dinner and a drink. Since this is a hotel restaurant we didn't expect it to be cheap, but both my husband and I work at a destination that has eight hotels, and although they range from Luxury to Value, ALL offer incredible food and cocktails regardless of price point. So... we expected the food and beverages to be good. I ordered a "Now Boarding" that had Vodka, Peach Schnapps, Ginger Beer, Lime, and Bitters. All I could taste was the Ginger Beer and could barely taste the alcohol. For $15 I wasn't impressed. My hubby ordered the Cavatappi Pasta and I ordered the grilled Salmon. The Salmon came on 4 pieces of asparagus with brown rice. It was OK - the fish was kind of fishy. The rice and asparagus were bland. The pasta was also OK. The price was good for what we got - I honestly expected the food to cost more. The redeeming part were the Parmesan Fries with chipotle aioli that we ordered as an appetizer. They came out and were abundant, crisp & hot, covered in Parmesan, and the aioli was FANTASTIC. Honestly, that would have been enough for me for dinner. Absolutely delicious. When going to a hotel restaurant, I generally expect everything to be 2x the price for mediocre quality. At Red bar, expect 3x the price. But their location is convenient, right in the lobby of the Hyatt O'Hare. Our first visit, I ordered a cheeseburger for $17. It was, ok. Cooked properly, on a nice bun, with minimal toppings. I would have expected to pay $6-7 elsewhere for an equivalent burger. Cocktails were $14 each, and were mixed poorly. The service was not great. We had to flag our seever down for each stage of the meal (taking orders, drink refills, bringing check). We were not presented with menu options for side items (fries, salads, etc). But the food came up relatively quicky once ordered. Total bill for two people came to $91 including tip for 2 burgers and 3 drinks. Our 2nd night we came back because we had difficultly finding another place to deliver, and didn't want to go out in the cold. We ordered a plate of nachos appetizer ($14 + $4 for meat). They were tasty and filled the two of us for dinner. But they were little more than tortilla chips squirted with cheese, sour cream, and sprinkled with jalapeños. read more

This is a cute little place inside Hyatt Regency. I was staying here with my 4 year old daughter. We came down for a snack. We had fries and calamari. The fries were super yummy. Me and my daughter love snacking on some good fried. We didn't like the calamari which is also a go to fav of ours and the server took it back no questions asked and asked if we wanted anything else. They had a really fun 90's r&b & hip hop playlist going. It was fun for me. I don't drink but it seems like a great little spot to stop in for a drink as well. My husband and son went to the bar and purchased drinks for us. We sat 15-20 more minutes and called over a waitress, Lupita, we saw waiting tables in our section (that was just sitting in the corner of the restaurant chatting with other wait staff). We asked her if she was our waitress and she told us that she could not help us because my husband already bought drinks at the bar and she couldn't "intermingle" with us. We called over the hostess that originally seated us (who was very nice) and asked for a manager. She walked away to get a manager and came back 10 minutes later with the manager's business card. The manager was too busy to help us but said we could call her. Needless to say, we left. Don't waste your time if you have other options. Margarita was pretty good, but the food is not great. I ordered a salmon sandwich, which said it came on a whole wheat bun with spicy remoulade. The bun was a hoagie style and very thick. There wasn't much sauce on the sandwich and the salmon was very hot, but a bit too charred. The fries were good! Prices are on the high side as you'd expect for a hotel bar. Well this was because another waitress instructed me to sit there and then never returned to clean it or take my order. You never blame the customer for something like this. Super unprofessional. I was ready to walk out but since I was staying at this hotel I had no other options for food. They get 2 stars because the calamari appetizer was huge (it needed more seasoning and more than one lemon). Also the hot wings were fairly decent. INITIAL ENCOUNTER. Hostess sits you down pending how busy they are. We chose closest to the window for a view. Our server was very accommodating. It wasn't too busy with probably only less than 30 folks spread throughout the dining and bar area. ORDERING. Limited menu. It's a bar... at a hotel. Be ready to pay a little more than a local bar. First half of the menu are drinks. Second half of the menu are your food options. I ended up wanting to order light, chose from their summer picks, got the oven baked chicken wings ($15) and sampled their blue cheese, ranch, and BBQ sauce. I kept it simple because I was there to network with my work colleagues. DIGGING IN. The chicken wings were freakin' delicious. Our server mentioned that they were baked, then broiled. This gave the chicken wings a nice crisp to it. Temperature was right outta the oven, I'd rather my bar food come out hot and fresh, then I'll eat it when it's at the right temperature to be savored then devoured. OVERALL. It's already expected that the bill be high, so I'd only expect great service... and our server (sorry, I forgot your name, got a bit tipsy from the double order of 2 tall jack and diet cokes I ordered) was awesome! She kept checking in intermittently making sure we were all taken care of. There's nothing more I'd expect from a server. FINAL THOUGHTS. First off, every server/bartender I talked to couldn't have been nicer or more attentive. I never had an empty drink, and my food came out promptly. Over priced food that is not that memorable, but you are in a hotel after all. I give the place credit for having revolution in a can at least, a can of eugene porter will run you 7. They also offer sushi if your wallet can handle it. As a place to sit, relax and enjoy company or the game, Red Bar wins. Tip - there is a very generous plate of chips and salsa that can be had for around 7. It comes with red and green salsa with just enough kick and I am told that the salsa is handmade at the hotel. The biggest challenge Red Bar has is whether it is open when you need it. Sometimes it is closed when it does not make sense, i.e. opens at 4pm on a Sunday. read more

Now I will admit that I can definitely be an "unreasonable" customer sometimes. It's probably unreasonable of me to get upset when I see a rather busy bar and 2 bartenders just laughing it up while one of them casually goes for her purse to get something before eventually returning to work. It's probably unreasonable of me to get upset for waiting 25 minutes at the FRONT of the bar, while bartenders pass me 5 separate times (I counted), going way out of their way to avoid eye contact as they pass (or maybe they all pulled a muscle in their necks, which caused all of them to look violently to the left while passing by me to their right. It's probably unreasonable of me to get upset when the bartender finally gave me the time of day and stared blankly at me like a deer in headlights when I asked for one of only 6 different beers on the menu, forcing me to change my order in the name of just wanting to sit back down with my friends, thinking that I could get in and out with a single beer order in less than half an hour... ...but I guess I'm just too unreasonable. I don't remember the exact price but I'm pretty sure it was like $12 for a massive burger and their recommended paired beer. Very simple in this review, the bartender saved it. She was very helpful and provided great service. Wonderful personality and her suggestions were spot on. Consistent with the other reviews the Happy Hour pricing is not regularly scheduled, I was told the manager chooses when so it is a gamble when and if it will be on. Most of those who went in said the value was way off unless it was Happy Hour. Again full points to the bar tending staff they saved this review. As I said, Happy Hour prices made the value acceptable. In the bar the quesadilla appraiser was good but the Garlic Parmesan fries were under-cooked, the Chef should not have sent them out and the wait was very long in spite of being poorly prepared. Would have sent it back but didn't want to wait, understaffed for the amount of people there. It does seem the Happy Hour is the rub here, I only went in once but it was the talk of my friends. Checking out the prices and value without happy hour they went out and didn't stay in the hotel. If I paid regular prices this would have been 2 stars due to the value. Summation, in future stays no Happy Hour and I'll find another place, the convenience of being in the hotel can make up for it. read more

It is funny because every single time that I travel to Chicago for team meetings, we stay at the Hyatt Regency O'Hare and the Red Bar is down in the lobby. You would think that the number one focus would be that we go out to grab some deep dish pizza or some Chicago style fare but we always migrate to the Red Bar in the lobby. The bar is not listed as a sports bar but it could be. It has tons of hanging televisions that has sports on all of the stations and it has a great feel to the place. The food is a good mix of everything from wings, to nachos to sushi to shrimp style pasta. Trust me when I say that you will not be disappointed in their food and their attempt to create a fine dining pub food style establishment. I personally had the hot wings and the cheese quesadilla and I loved everything about it .. the service was great and attentive and they had an ok selection of drafts on tap (I think about 5 of them). If you are traveling or just looking for a place to relax and eat and drink some wobbly pops, then check this place out. read more
