I needed a locksmith to rekey our front door lock. I called Able Security on Friday afternoon and…read moreEric picked up right away. We scheduled an appointment for Monday at 10am. He and an assistant called ahead to ask if it was okay to arrive early. In the course of rekeying the deadbolt, they advised that replacing the unit was better because the previous one was so old. The door handle was a "camelot" style in brass, and as it isn't the preferred style these days, they didn't have a matching deadbolt. They kindly drove back to their shop to retrieve a brass deadbolt that they had. They came back, installed it, and cut the extra copies of the keys that I wanted. As a courtesy, they also tightened the door handle which I was frankly worried about, since it was wobbly and didn't feel secure, but I didn't have the skills to figure out how to tighten it myself. They didn't have to, but they disassembled the handle to tighten it, and upon doing so, found that it, too, was so old that not only were the screws spinning and not catching the material, but the metal parts inside the lock that should latch together were worn down and wouldn't go back together. So the door handle could turn to open the door, but if you put any pressure on it at all, it slid right off and you were holding a doorknob in your hand. That put a time crunch on their schedule, but they didn't leave with the job half done. They suggested I get a new handle and they put a temporary doorknob on. Once I picked up a new handle, I called back, and Eric fit me in the next morning. That morning, I was running an errand and Eric called right on time to say that he was at the house. I was running late, and he waited patiently for 5-10 minutes until I arrived home. He and his assistant got the handle on in a half hour, and didn't even charge since the reason the door handle wouldn't go back on in the first place was because they were being thorough and tightening the handle which wasn't in the original statement of work, but an extra favor. I really appreciated the professionalism, integrity, punctuality, and advance notice of their arrival. Highly recommend!
