Called to place an order and was told that since I hadn't been there for a year they would make me wait when I got there and after I paid. I could pay on the phone and they would have it prepared for me. When I expressed concern about this policy I was told by the owner at the time to "go to hell and order somewhere else. ". I love sushi so I was excited to try some sushi from Red 8. I did order it to go which was probably a bad idea because I didn't realize until later that my lunch special that should have included soup didn't actually make it home with me. The sushi was okay. The California roll and salmon avocado roll were decent. The Rock Star Roll was the roll I was excited about but it was so drenched in so many sauces that all I could taste was a mess of sauce. It was really disappointing how messy it was. I like the flavors in my sushi rolls to blend well and I couldn't taste any of the ingredients other than sauce. This place is amazing. 20/10 I have severe gut issues that have left me sugar, carb and dairy free. These guys are the only restaurant that I will indulge in with no kickback from my gut issues. A server, not even our server, decided to come to our table and insult 2 people in our group - made awful comments and sarcastic questions merely about their appearance. We love this place, but it can be inconsistent. Our favorite dish is the Kung Pao. I really like it with tofu. However, I find it odd to serve a tofu dish with ham friend rice. I've also ordered it and had it come with chicken mixed in as well. So, be aware of that if you're a vegetarian. Sometimes their food is incredibly spicy, sometimes not so much. Delicious Chinese food. This was my second visit and I was pleased they seemed consistently good. They were busy on a week night, even at 8 PM. We were seated quickly at a clean table. I decided to try something I usually don't order at Chinese restaurants- sweet and sour chicken. I never order this because it's not spicy. The pictures on yelp looked delicious so I decided to give it a try. I prefer spicy food so asked if there was a spicy sauce I could add to the chicken. The waiter brought me a sriracha sauce. Yum!!!!! I know what I'll be ordering next time!!!! The sauce complimented the chicken nicely. I received a large plate of nice and crispy chicken with a few veggies thrown in. The pieces of chicken were not flimsy but decent amounts of meat for this type of meal. One thing to know when ordering off the dinner menu here- they charge extra for another bowl of rice. The bowl of rice was the perfect size for me and my little boy to share but was not enough rice for my husband. I normally stay away from a general Asian themed restaurant like this because it doesn't make sense. They serve Sushi to Kungpao chicken to Pad Thai. Especially the raw nigiri sushi. The salmon and tuna taste as fresh as they possibly can. The rice is a bit on the crumbly side though but not a deal breaker. Having option to have this as part of special lunch menu is a good deal. The rolls are pretty good too. For soup, I like the sweet and sour a lot. Thick and tasty. The miso soup is just alright. It lacks that sour kick to make me excited. I also tried the Chinese menu. The Kungpao chicken comes in big serving, with fried rice and pot stickers. It's not bad, but I have definitely had better. It doesn't taste like home cooked food but rather more like a massively produced end product. Like what you find in Panda Express. So if you come here, I would recommend the sushi menu first. Well, if you like sushi, this is pretty decent, a lot of the same thing wrapped in something different or with a different sauce. As far as the rest of the Asian food, just a glorified Panda Express. Personally see no reason to comeback, unless I really need sushi in a pinch. read more

This place was not good at all. First, service was abysmal and the place was dirty--there was soy sauce on the walls and the soy sauce container was sticky and just gross. The sushi rolls were not good. The rice was paste like and way too much of it. I was very disappointed with their Negihama roll. I have no idea what that was but it was not right. Negihama rolls are pretty simple--yellowtail, rice, green onions, and nori. It did not have green onions! And the rice was marinated in Sriracha sauce. It was so very disappointing. This particular Red 8 out on Timpanogos Highway has been my go-to Chinese Restaurant for over a year now. The Sesame Chicken lunch combo is my favorite. The chicken is fresh and not chewy. Along with many of their delicious sushi rolls. All of their sushi rolls as of right now are 50% off. I'm usually a little leery of 50% off anything but, they have always been delicious and fresh rolls. During this whole Covid thing they have shown great care in how they handle everything. I have definitely experienced better asian food. My review though comes with a caveat , i did not try the sushi here which my colleague at work told me was acceptable and okay but i did get a chance to try the chinese cuisine and kung pao dish that i had could definitely have been made better as it seemed more like all ingredients were chopped and thrown together in a wok quickly with a lot of soy sauce but no spicy kick to it . The spice comes from red chilies but only when the chilies used are dry and are cracked open as its the seeds in the chilies that make a dish hot or not and in this case they appeared to have been thrown in more as a after thought and made the dish taste more like a lot of ingredients in soy sauce. The 2 star is mainly down to the sort of below average experience i had with this dish today while i was visiting this place for lunch. However the hot and sour soup was thick and very good and since i had it first i thought that i had reached the right restaurant for lunch but the main dish was disappointing and hence the 2 stars but reviews can vary as sushi lovers might find this place appealing still. read more

Called in for a takeout order and the guy was rude for absolutely no reason. He seemed pretty annoyed about me having such a big order and was constantly cutting me off while I was trying to order making the ordering process more difficult than it had to be which made him even more frustrated. Was rushing me through the whole order and made a fuss about me asking him to read me the order back to make sure it was correct. Then sure enough he was missing items and when I pointed out that there were items missing I could hear him complaining and cursing away from the phone. Great food for a first time visit. I'm happy that they opened in Lehi. Located by Smiths grocery they are doing a good business. We arrived on a Friday evening and only had to wait about 5 minutes for a table and quickly ordered. The food came out super fast and was wonderfully prepared. They were so quick with the food I watched other tables and they had similar experiences. The staff was very attentive and alert. We had a California roll and General Tso Chicken and Chicken Fried Rice. The portions were large and tasty. I saw other menu items go past our table that I'm excited to go back and try. I did not expect such a beautiful ambience in this restaurant that's right next to a Great Clips! It was like retreating to a fancy little out-of-the-place spot; great for a date with my husband. The servers made sure everything looked and tasted according to our expectations--which is an awesome way to ensure that your brand new restaurant will succeed. Overall, very great service. We went just before 6 on a Thursday. Around 6:30pm it got busier, but the service wasn't compromised. The food... (Don't judge; we just wanted to be thorough in our review lol) Chicken satay: not like any chicken satay we've had, but still really good. The peanut sauce for dipping was replaced with a sweet and savory eel-type sauce. The chicken skewers themselves were grilled to perfection. Fried Rangoon: no imitation crab meat, just onions and cream cheese. Very tasty. The sweet and sour dipping sauce was really good with it. Orange chicken (with white rice): amazing! The chicken pieces were large and perfectly fried. The sauce was sweet and tangy and covered all the pieces with some left on the plate too. The white rice is your standard white rice--cooked to the right done-ness. Beef Lo mein: you can smell the garlic as soon as the plate is set in front of you. Mmmmmm. The beef was tender and neither of us got any tough pieces. The noodles are flat, rather than round like we're used to, but that wasn't a deal breaker. Very good Lo mein. Cowboy roll: a fish-free roll with tender thin medium-rare slices on top and inside the roll with still-crunchy sweet potato bites, cream cheese, and avocado. We both really liked this roll more than we expected to (we love traditional raw fish sushi and never get non-fish rolls). Lime mousse dessert: so tangy and delicious! The perfect way to end my meal. Sunday's are hard in UT County. We were on a hunt for Thai, specifically Pad Thai. But aside from American chains and tacos, there's not really many options that are open on Sunday's, so we had to go on a journey. Let me tell you about this journey... It was lunch time Sunday, I was craving Pad Thai like a not-pregnant pregnant woman. After furiously Yelping with very specific filters, it turned out there were nearly no Thai places open. We called Thai Thai 8 times to order take out to no answer. So we decided to just drive up and dine in. We arrive, and THEY WERE CLOSED despite all business hours indicating they were open on Sundays. By this point, I'm desperate. We found Red 8 and called them to confirm they had Pad Thai before we trekked up to Lehi. We enter the restaurant, I instantly order Pad Thai and happily wait for our food to come. Not only does the server forget like every single request we ask of him. But he comes back out after 15/20 minutes of waiting for the food to inform me that THEY HAD NO PAD THAI. WTF. By now, everyone else's food has come out and I have to re-order something non-Pad Thai and wait another 15 minutes before my food came out. This place would've been 3 stars or worse if it weren't for the quality of food. The curry was flavorful but a bit watery. Their Beef Don Burri and Orange Chicken were insanely good and generously portioned. They had a check-in offer for a free appetizer which was spring rolls, there were 6 spring rolls total, which was a great deal! The service was probably the worst part of the experience. We asked for more napkins and he forgot. We ordered wine and he forgot. We asked for boxes and he forgot. We are big sushi fans and were excited to try this new place out. We came on a busy Friday night and the restaurant was packed ( a good sign). We didn't have to wait very long for a table and ordered right away. The food came out super fast and was very good. We ordered the Citrus Roll which tasted very fresh and the Pink Lady, both good rolls with lots of favor and the right amount of spice. We also ordered the chicken lettuce wrap appetizer which was good and very filling. The overall experience was good and we will be back. The restaurant is nothing fancy but very family friendly and pretty clean ( I'm very picky about that). We also thought it was very reasonable, price wise. Definitely a good value.
