I was admitted to Desert Cove Skilled Nursing Facility on Feb 2, at approximately 9pm, and remained…read moreinpatient until Feb 20th. When I arrived from Chandler Regional Hospital, the head nurse informed my husband and I that he didn't have any information regarding my meds which I was due for w/in an hour. I was on significant pain meds as well as time sensitive meds, yet I went 36hrs before all of my meds were administered, and only because I called the hospital and convinced one of the nurses there to help. I spent my first 36hrs at the facility in excruciating pain. In the first 2 wks I was in the facility, I was unable to attend physical therapy at least half of the time because the staff failed to administer my meds on time throwing me back into unmanageable pain. I had gone into this facility because I was not capable of caring for myself at home, & I believed my husband & kids would be able to work and not worry about me. Unfortunately, that was anything but true. My daughter had to leave work in Casa Grande 3 times to get nurses to listen to me, my husband had to leave work early nearly every day to sit with me & make sure my meds were given on time, and my son stayed late into the evening to make sure I was being taken care of. I was a patient due to a diagnosis that causes extreme pain when touched, I had to repeatedly remind nurses and even hung signs to alert them to my needs, yet several nurses still literally argued with me about my needs. (even when ordered by a dr). My stay didn't relieve any stress on myself or my family, it only caused more. You would think this alone would be enough, but this stay had even more... I wasn't given a menu to chose my meals until the 2nd week, didn't even know there where menu options until my husband asked. (after having to bring me my meals). The meals that I would eat were good, but usually cold. My 1st wk there I was diagnosed w/ shingles, so I was quarantined to my room, I had to bathe in the sink. Even w/ limited mobility. My 2nd wk I was offered a shower after 9pm, and wasn't able to shower until my 3rd week when I mentioned to my physical therapist that I hadn't showered since I arrived. During my entire stay, my sheets were NEVER changed despite multiple requests. You would think this would be enough, but then comes the Doctor. Dr Kane. If you are thinking you will see a Dr that listens to you, answers your questions, has an ounce of compassion, think again! He answers questions with "Oh we will take care of that", "You don't need to worry about that", spend MAYBE 5 min in the room with you, then send you a bill for 30 min visits at $250+ for each time he walks into your room! When it was time to be discharged, I required enough meds until I could see my own Dr. 5 days later. One of my meds was prescribed at 1.5 tablets every 4hrs. Dr. Kane called in a prescription for 15 tablets, enough for about a day and a half. This way, they could keep me an extra 4 days. When I first brought it up to Dr Kane, he said I would figure it out, when I said something in front of the case worker, suddenly he realized his error and laughed it off. Even after I got home, the horror of the Nursing Facility wasn't over. I suddenly had several sores show up on my abdomen. A visit to my PCP and I was diagnosed with cellulitis from insulin injection sites administered by nurses at Desert Cove. All in all, except for the CNA's, and maybe 3 of the nurses who cared for me in almost 4 weeks, my stay at this facility was like all of the horror stories you hear about nursing facilities. I know I spent the 1st 36 hours of my stay screaming and crying in pain, and many nights listening to others do the same. The only positive about this place is their PT/OT providers, they seemed to be the only ones to care about their patients. PROCEED WITH CAUTION!

The staff helped me build a structured treatment plan to initiate helpful growth, strength and a realistic recovery. Although the action is up to you, the therapists equip you with a foundation full Of resources to build upon. They work on your inner strengths and challenge your weaknesses. They offer constructive feedback and are quick to tell you what you need to hear - not what you want to hear. The staff overall truly have your best interest at heart and want to see you succeed. They provided me with a sense of care and safety in being vulnerable. The staff is efficient in they're approach and steadfast to being consistent & professional. Thus far, treatment here has been a remarkably empowering and fortifying experience. They're recognition and approach have pulled me up from darkness into an optimistic state. Going to treatment here has given me hope, direction, and the opportunity to identify what I need to do to live a sober life. Recovery is possible (if you want to be sober) and being a client here has given me that chance. Scottsdale Providence has offered me a life-changing experience; that will put me back on the path to a positive, healthy, and sober life I so dearly have in front of me. It is mandated if you live in their housing, not optional.

He has such a natural ability to bring energy and happiness into the room, and it's obvious that he truly cares about the people he works with. I actually plan some of my visits around when I know Blair will be there because I know Nana Baby Cakes and I are going to have a more fun and memorable time. I could not have had a more dramatically different experience than what I saw in the reviews - it's safe to say that the management has heard your concerns! We came in at 9:30pm to a very full labor and delivery floor - cancelled the inductions for the day & a woman had been waiting for a delivery room for 7 hours longer than me... Things were not looking too promising. The nurse in triage, Kristy (I hope I'm spelling that right) moved MOUNTAINS for us. She continuously let us know what was going on on the floor and how my labor was progressing. When there was no delivery room available and the nurses were literally spread to their max, she found a way for us to get to a room to help alleviate my pain and welcome my son into the world. I have never felt more looked after than I did with her. Following that, the postpartum ward was delightful! The team that works in there is extremely respectful and caring. Food wise, pretty good! Not the typical icky hospital food that you hear about! If you get the chocolate chip cookie, put it next to a piece of bread for a little bit and it isn't as dry & oh so much more yummy! I hope & pray that everyone gets to have my experience! Even the OB who was on call... I don't know if I would have remotely the same delivery experience if it wasn't for him & his gentle encouragement throughout - you are the best Dr. Canestraro!

Banner Desert Hospital in Mesa Arizona failed my father in every possible way during what would be…read morethe last weeks of his life. My father was admitted on April 16th 2026 with a confirmed cancer diagnosis that had already been documented in his medical records. He sat in that hospital for five days before a single oncologist walked through his door. Five days. When the oncologist finally came on April 21st it was the first time my father had ever seen an oncologist in his entire life. And it happened on the day they were trying to discharge him. The discharge paperwork they tried to send him home with was factually inaccurate. His CT scan performed right there in that building showed possible pancreatitis, bowel wall thickening, gallstones, aggressive malignant ascites, severely elevated bilirubin of 12.80, and compromised kidney function. None of it was on his discharge papers. They listed cirrhosis and noted he should get a blood test to check for liver cancer. He already had confirmed liver cancer. That is not a clerical error. That is negligence. They tried to discharge my father for three to four days before we even had a chance to arrange proper care elsewhere. When we finally had an appointment at City of Hope they discharged him to a hotel because they refused to transfer him directly to the cancer center the way it should have been done for a critically ill cancer patient. When I advocated for my father and asked questions about his care and his inaccurate discharge paperwork they called security on me. Twice. I was not threatening anyone. I was a daughter fighting for her dying father. That is what they called security for. Nurses Kelsey and Ashley were dismissive, cold, and treated my father without dignity or compassion. They did not do their jobs and their lack of care was witnessed by our entire family. The one exception was nurse Merisol who treated my father with the kindness, warmth, and professionalism that every patient deserves. She was the only bright light in an otherwise disgraceful experience. My father came home after leaving this facility and passed away shortly after. He deserved so much better. Every patient who walks through those doors deserves so much better. If the people running this hospital ever have to admit their own parents here I hope they receive the exact same level of care that my father received. Maybe then they will understand what they put our family through. Do not come here unless you have no other choice. And if you do end up here ask for Merisol and pray she is your nurse. This hospital is under investigation and I am pursuing every legal avenue available to me.
