I am very disappointed with my experience at Lighthouse, particularly with how my concerns…read moreregarding a psychiatric medication were handled. For over two weeks, I repeatedly tried to get a clear answer about whether I could receive a short bridge prescription to get me to an upcoming appointment with a new provider. When it became clear a refill might not be possible, I specifically asked for guidance on how to safely stop the medication. That guidance was never provided. Being left without direction regarding mental health treatment is unacceptable. I chose to leave this practice because I did not feel listened to by Dr. Westbrock. Diagnoses were mentioned without explanation, alternative causes were not meaningfully explored, and my concerns were largely dismissed. When I asked about further evaluation, I was told it would require several additional appointments and approximately $800 in fees, after already paying for the visit I was attending. The process felt more focused on billing than patient care. After securing a new provider, I contacted Lighthouse weeks in advance because I knew I would run out of medication before that appointment. I made it clear that I understood if a refill was not possible and that I was simply asking for guidance. Despite multiple attempts, my requested were ignored by Dr. Westbrock. Even after being told by the medical assistants this bridge refill should have been possible. Lighthouse medical assistants have reached out and apologized on behalf of the team. They stated the issue was with Dr. Westbrock and said that if I wanted a bridge now, three weeks later, they could forward me to the director. I appreciate the medical assistants who attempted to help every time I called. However, this situation should have been escalated to leadership much earlier, and at the end of the day Dr. Westbrock is employed by this office and his actions reflect the office. Overall, this experience left me feeling dismissed and unsupported at a critical moment in my care. The only reason I chose 2 stars instead of 1 was the medical assistants consistently trying their best. It is disappointing they are not listened to by their superiors. I am sharing this so others can make an informed decision when choosing providers.

Front desk never responds to calls upon multiple attempts and messages left. Extremely frustrating.read more

I've only been working with Samuel for a couple months, but I feel like he's already helped me see…read moresome new concepts that I haven't been able to grasped throughout the past 17+ years I've been in therapy. I've seen several different counselors over the years and none of them have been able to help me have as many pivotal breakthroughs! I feel like Samuel genuinely cares, he takes notes, he also encourages ME TO TAKE NOTES, and he is able to reference stories I've mentioned to him in prior sessions accurately (this is huge). A couple of things that he's pointed out to me have really resonated and helped me with my anxiety recently: 1. "Dwelling on the 'don't knows' triggers anxiety" -what the heck does that mean? The "don't knows" are thoughts that pop into my head like what is next week going to look like, what does xyz think of me, or why doesn't my dog listen to me, etc. All the things I can't possibly know cuz I'm not a fortune-teller, someone else, or my dog! (I hope you get the point) I can ask xyz and/or I can take action to get help with my dog, but dwelling on the "don't knows" right now or during the weekend are only going to trigger anxiety. And once my anxiety starts spinning, then depression will be coming along soon too to join the party, if I don't get a hold of my thoughts. So remembering this little mantra has helped tremendously lately and I'm staying more calm. 2. Our imagination makes up terrible outcomes and stories all the time (due to different reasons and may vary from person to person), but why not try to use our imagination to make up good things instead. I mean either way we're just making it up in our head anyways, why not err on the positive side of things instead of always on the negative, doom-gloom side? I could go on and on, just ask Samuel, I never seem to run out of things to talk about lol. But I don't want to give away all my enlightenments in just one review. I am grateful for my new counselor and love recommending his services to other people looking to put in "the work". Good luck!

I had always put off therapy because I didn't think I needed help...Well I was wrong. I needed help understanding and they gave me all the tools I needed. I don't want to say I am a whole new person, I am me but I have a better understanding of myself, my needs, the people around me, I communicate better and have found a new outlook on life. I feel hopeful. A special shoutout to my therapist Josh, and Tami at the front desk who is always so kind and helpful. When I discovered that Craig Dalton owns Total Life Counseling, I recalled a previous interaction that raised concerns about professionalism and boundaries. At a church event where my husband and I were hosting a disability resources booth, Craig--whom I had never met--approached me with his family and handed me his business card. He made a comment that seemed based on secondhand information, unexpected and unclear. When I later followed up to better understand the exchange, his explanation was vague and did not clarify the situation. While brief, the interaction raised concerns about discretion and professionalism. Approaching someone in a public setting based on third party information can feel intrusive and does not align with the level of confidentiality expected in the counseling field.

Note: Regarding my ex-wife, her background and training provided her with the ability and skills to be very persuasive, having groups and individual adopting and believing her point of view. My problem: Wife was seeing her former lover who she was romantically involved with before our marriage. The married man even met and spent time with her family before our marriage. She continued the relationship with him during our marriage by texting messages to each other, meeting him, and lied to me about 2 different girls' 3-day 2-night trips. However, the trips were probably to his cabin for 3 days and 2-nights. She denied and lied to me about their continued contacts. All this took place during our marriage without my knowledge. I trusted my wife. I was the last to know. When the lies came up during counseling, my ex-wife told Sharon the issue was that I violated her privacy. My final meeting with Sharon, she discussed how and why my wife needed another outside relationship. How I did not understand my ex-wife. How the problem was me. Please be careful before employing Sharon Morley.

What Jess brings to the table is something more, which was a genuine concern for my child. On one of our conversatios she said " I went on this run and I was thinking about"... she was thinking about my kid and how to help. She made me feel like we ( we because as parents, things that affect our kids affect us) were "seen." I think more often than not people get complacent in their careers, including the medical or mental health field, which I would chalk up to human nature. However, she never made me feel like my kid was number or just another patient. She was someone going through something and Jess was going to figure it out. We had to stop seeing Jess due to some circumstances out of my control. Which only lead us to a merry go round of therapists and it wasn't until then, that I was able to fully appreciate her, not only for her emotional investment in my child but also for her instincts, which were proven to be spot on. While on that mental health merry go round, I learned that not every therapist has the capability to convey a genuine sense of commitment and concern for their client/patient , however Jess did. Taking on someone else's emotional pain, trauma, anxieties and fears has to be one of the hardest jobs I could imagine, especially when it comes to children...so I can understand having and internal shut off valve and not fault anyone needing to enact that protective mechanism. But as a parent who's child hurts....I sure as shit want someone who sees my kid, as I see them. Once again I saw Jess early in her career. Not only do I magine that she has gotten better with time but I imagine now that she has her own practice, she chooses people who values their clients as much as she does. ...I did recently refer someone here and they had positive reviews about Jess, Teena and the facility.
