Specialties
Family Matters Counseling specializes in relational therapy and helping individuals, couples, and families navigate life’s most difficult transitions.
We provide individual and couples therapy focused on relationships, communication, emotional connection, conflict, attachment, and understanding patterns that affect the people we love. Our relational approach helps clients build healthier relationships w/ others.
We also specialize in bereavement and grief counseling, providing compassionate support as clients process loss, adjust to life after the death of someone they love, and find a meaningful way forward.
For those navigating divorce and life after divorce, we offer support with emotional healing, rebuilding identity, co-parenting, family changes, and adjusting to a new chapter.
Family Matters also helps individuals, couples, and families through personal and family transitions, including changes in identity, values, parenting, family structure, and faith. We have particular experience supporting faith transitions and differences in religious beliefs, especially when these changes affect marriage, family, or relationships.
We also offer specialized ADHD support for children and teens, combining therapy with practical behavioral and executive functioning skills coaching.
Whatever transition you are facing, our goal is to help you feel understood, strengthen the relationships that matter most, and move forward with greater clarity, confidence, and connection.

Meet the Business Owner: Emily S.
I am passionate about the work I do because I believe in people and their ability to change. I have loved being in the front seat as I witness people heal from past pains and traumas. I believe each person carries untapped strength beyond what they may see as having the capacity to reach. I have enjoyed working together to discover these treasures and it is a privilege to see the growth that can happen. I specialize in Mormon faith transition and religious trauma, mixed-faith marriages, couples therapy, divorce counseling, and building identity after divorce.
