Troy Stone is one of the better counselors I've been to. He is honest, calls you on your BS, relatable, and has plenty of examples. He will chat about your day-to-day stuff but he always pulls it back to - what is your goal and what is the science behind it (love language, attachment theory, trauma, etc.). Other MFT counselors I've gone to barely touch on such subjects which greatly hinders long term fixes - to fix what is wrong today you must understand where you came from. If you simply talk about what pissed you off last week and never touch on why or what happened to you in the past that predisposed you to those emotions... then you're just spinning your wheels.

I've only been working with Samuel for a couple months, but I feel like he's already helped me see…read moresome new concepts that I haven't been able to grasped throughout the past 17+ years I've been in therapy. I've seen several different counselors over the years and none of them have been able to help me have as many pivotal breakthroughs! I feel like Samuel genuinely cares, he takes notes, he also encourages ME TO TAKE NOTES, and he is able to reference stories I've mentioned to him in prior sessions accurately (this is huge). A couple of things that he's pointed out to me have really resonated and helped me with my anxiety recently: 1. "Dwelling on the 'don't knows' triggers anxiety" -what the heck does that mean? The "don't knows" are thoughts that pop into my head like what is next week going to look like, what does xyz think of me, or why doesn't my dog listen to me, etc. All the things I can't possibly know cuz I'm not a fortune-teller, someone else, or my dog! (I hope you get the point) I can ask xyz and/or I can take action to get help with my dog, but dwelling on the "don't knows" right now or during the weekend are only going to trigger anxiety. And once my anxiety starts spinning, then depression will be coming along soon too to join the party, if I don't get a hold of my thoughts. So remembering this little mantra has helped tremendously lately and I'm staying more calm. 2. Our imagination makes up terrible outcomes and stories all the time (due to different reasons and may vary from person to person), but why not try to use our imagination to make up good things instead. I mean either way we're just making it up in our head anyways, why not err on the positive side of things instead of always on the negative, doom-gloom side? I could go on and on, just ask Samuel, I never seem to run out of things to talk about lol. But I don't want to give away all my enlightenments in just one review. I am grateful for my new counselor and love recommending his services to other people looking to put in "the work". Good luck!

When I started to write something (I won't call it a review) for Josefa, I wasn't ready. I wanted what I wrote to mean something and to reflect how I feel about the affect she's had on my life. So, I'll take a shot now, but I'm still not sure I can do her justice. Josefa is a truly gifted person. She not only had an almost immediate understanding of the person I was, but also a tremendous insight into 'why I was' and how I could be the person I wanted to be. It's interesting because I had visited a counselor on and off over many years, whom I thought was good. However, in just two coaching sessions with Josefa, I discovered things about myself that I had neither thought of nor discussed, previously. Over the course of working with Josefa for a few months, she helped me to better understand myself, which led to quite a change in the way I feel about myself and how I interact with the world around me. From session to session, she always was on top of what we had previously discussed and was familiar with issues that were currently affecting my life. And, she was always on point with suggestions on how to best handle situations. Furthermore, the suggestions were ones that I could carry forward with me to future issues. Does everything work out for me now exactly like I want it to... of course not. But, I can certainly handle things much better now than I previously could. It may sound like I was a basket-case prior to working with Josefa. I don't think that's the 'case', but I certainly had issues. I imagine I still do. During the call, I was on my way driving to work but Ling was sure patience enough to listen to me and gave me some information regarding what she does, recommended hypnotherapy and schedule me to come in to see her. So far I have gone through 3 sessions with her and she made me realize, opened up my mind and educated me on thinking more positively. This review is regarding my first hand experience seeking information on various programs offered…read moreand to ultimately schedule treatment at the company's Gilbert facility. Despite advertising treatments for mental health conditions like depression, anxiety, PTSD, and trauma, it appears this clinic lacks the necessary in-house expertise to effectively understand the unique needs of individuals with these conditions which appear to be outsourced to others (aside from the Ketamine infusions conducted by the owners). The owners, who are anesthesiologists by trade, clearly all have qualifications and expertise in treating pain, and freely admit their specialty is in pain and not in mental health matters. However, depending who you talk to during your consult, they might even attempt to convince you to quit your meds, even if prescribed and are working effectively. During one inquiry, one of the owners/anesthesiologists couldn't even explain the basics of their "Combined Ketamine Treatment and Neurofeedback Therapy for Improved Mental Health" or how it worked and recommended I watch a video to figure it out as he only deals with the ketamine infusion aspect, further highlighting a significant detachment from crucial aspects of patient care. The dismissive and narrow-minded attitude of at least one owner/DO towards diversity of perspectives for patient care is appalling. When presented with information or experiences not fully aligned with his beliefs, he callously brushed them off, stating, "I don't care [about your experiences]...you are never going to change my mind" at which point a "patient" spontaneously arrived, he abruptly ended the call with no resolution or offer to speak later to answer the ONE question I actually called about in the first place. This blatant disregard for patient concerns and experiences is utterly unconscionable in any healthcare setting and speaks volumes about the lack of empathy and professionalism at this clinic, at least from one of their providers. As a for-profit corporation, it is clear one of their primary focuses seems to be on maximizing profits rather than prioritizing patient well-being. The three primary doctors are also the owners, who seem to also do the intake, consultations, offer treatment recommendations, and price quotes. Conflicting price quotes that I received for the same treatment package within a day from two separate individuals raise serious ethical concerns. It's evident that financial incentives dominate which services and treatment recommendations this firm chooses to offer and supersede any genuine concern for patients' health and welfare. There are many options out there. Do your own research and look elsewhere for competent, compassionate, and coordinated care.
