My girlfriend wanted a haircut and her hair dyed blue, her stylist Jordan was not only fun and awesome to interact with but exceeded both of our expectations with how EPIC her hair came out. Deeply Disappointed and Concerned -- Chemical Burn and No Accountability…read more On 5/12/25, I received a highlight and lowlight service at Hair 2 Dare Salon--an experience that turned out to be not only deeply disappointing but genuinely painful and concerning. As a licensed cosmetologist with over five years of experience getting my own hair highlighted and colored, I've never had an issue--until now. My stylist was 10 minutes late, which delayed an already long process that ended up taking over 4 hours. I had foils in my hair for more than 2 hours--far too long for lightener to safely process. This is basic chemical safety that all professionals should know. At the shampoo bowl, a wet towel was pressed against my neck. I now believe it had bleach or lightener on it, as I left the salon with a chemical burn on my neck. Since then, the lower portion of my scalp has been peeling and is still painful. The salon offered no apology, no compensation, and took no accountability. Instead, they simply suggested I take Benadryl. That is not an appropriate or professional response to a chemical injury. To make matters worse, they tried to claim it was my body "having a reaction"--despite my history of safely receiving the same services for years without issue and that it was only the lower portion of my scalp where chemicals were left the longest. This was clearly due to overprocessing and improper chemical handling. I'm sharing this to help others make informed decisions.
