After graduating from college, my wife and I decided we wanted to invest in real estate. One of my college friends pointed me to Realty West Properties. I gave them a call and explained what kind of investment property I was looking for and the amount of work I was willing to put into this investment property. The next morning, I received an email from Boyd and Susan with +20 plus homes that were available and within the parameters that I gave them and were ready to show me them whenever I was ready. After looking at a few of the homes, I was impressed with how well they helped me visualize the "what could be" once the home was finished. With the help of the visualization, it made the decision to pull the trigger on buying a home very clear. I am very happy with this company and will refer them to anyone that is looking for a home, especially if they are looking for an investment property. Thank you Realty West! read more

These people are the most racist, awful people that I have ever dealt with. I was supposed to meet Will Watkins to be shown a property. I waited for over an hour and then called me to tell me that he saw me waiting on my car as he drove past me and said "because of the color of my skin that he will not be able to do business with me". I was stunned I was shocked that I was speechless. So I called the office and spoke with Rebecca and was told that there are different realty companies that deal with my kind. It's unbelievable that people like this are still in business. They should be shut down and thrown in jail. read more

I was hired to investigate what i was told to be shady business practices and so i looked into it. Shady doesnt even begin to cover it. More like illegal activity. I received a video tape of realty west employee Will Watkins bribing a Spokane City code enforcement inspector. It shows them pull up in front of a house and get out of the same car together (weird) and stand in front of this house discussing what to put on the inspection report and what to leave off of it. You can hear and see clearly who it is and what they are doing. It was hard to watch and disturbing. Im sure it was even worse for the poor renters that probably ended up on the losing end of this whole thing. I tried to reach out to Will but I got no response. So I am going to keep pursuing this because someone has to make sure that companies like this cant keep stepping on the weaker person and getting away with it. read more

DO NOT DO ANY BUSINESS WITH THESE CON ARTISTS! They have an ad on Craig's List for a rental in Port Townsend. I had made a call and left a message in the morning. They never called back. Another call was made in the afternoon and they said it was rented. I asked how they did a background check and credit check. The woman whom I spoke to with an accent said it is all done on line...Mind you they are in Burien and this property is in Port Hadlock...basically they are in Seattle area...so about 3 hours drive. Other people in this area have also complained about this company. Failing to do repairs, letting broken things get worse and blaming the tenant. One person said they wanted their SS# over the phone for this property which was already rented... STAY AWAY FROM THESE PEOPLE. They should be reported to the Realtor board in WA statre! read more

After moving here to Washington from Hawaii, I was in need of buying a home. Luckily, the relatives I was staying with recommended me to Realty West Properties in Burien. My relatives have purchased 4 investment properties with their help and expressed nothing but positive things about them. After working with Boyd and Susan, I understand why my relatives spoke so highly of this company. The process of purchasing my house was quick and painless. I understood all the criteria that they presented to me and was confident that they were working for my best interest. I greatly appreciate their attention to detail and being timely throughout the purchase. With all that being said, I advise anyone who is in the market in purchasing a home to partner with Realty West. You will NOT BE DISAPPOINTED in their work. Thank you for helping me find my first home!! read more

I currently rent a town home from Susie and Boyd Watkins, Realty West Properties. The property we rent is in a nice neighborhood in Aurora, Colorado. I have been renting from them for 4 months now. They have been wonderful land lords. If I call and have any questions or problems, which have been few, they have been quick to respond and any questions that I have. They were very kind with the application process as well. They make it easy to pay my rent over the phone as well. The town home that we live in is in good condition as well for my daughter and husband to live in. I'm so happy we found them. If you are looking for a nice home with nice land lords these are the people to rent from. read more

I always thought buying my first home would be stressful and a lengthy process, until I was referred by a friend to Realty West Properties. I was partnered with David Watkins and instantly had a connection with him. His knowledge and expertise in real estate made feel confident throughout the whole buying process. After looking around for several homes, being indecisive on exactly what I want made it difficult for me to decide. David was extremely patient with my indecisiveness and I felt that there was no pressure placed on me. I felt that David knew exactly what I did and did not like about certain homes and really took the time to understand what I was looking for. I applaud David for his proactiveness in showing me homes when they first came on the market. I finally found the perfect home and the process couldn't of been any smoother. David laid out all the details of the contract and negotiated really well for me. The way he explained what I was signing on the contract gave me full transparency on what I was getting in to. For anyone that is looking to buy or list their home, I strongly recommend choosing Realty West Properties. The patience, pro-activeness and kindness I received made the complexity of buying home very simple. read more

What are we coming to in America when people whose sole job is to manage properties do not even want to show a house! Told a rep (whose shall remain nameless) that we were very interested in a property and saw pictures, did crime reports online for the area and wanted to set-up a time the next day to see the properties since we were looking for somewhere immediately. Her response... drive over in person to see it first BEFORE she will show the inside. I told her we lived 25 minutes away but spent a full day the weekend before in those areas, saw pictures and were serious about these two properties, enough to put down an application and money the same day to hold. Once again... she said it's just a waste a time since she tries to "maximize her time", meaning it's a waste of time. Question... you work for a property management company your entire job is to get units rented did you not think that involved showing units? What happened to real estate where they don't even want to show you the houses! I mean at least create a R2D2 robot to come out and show the place if you just don't feel like it! From my house its a 25 minute drive, do you think someone wants to make TWO trips to each place just to peak inside a window at night? You going to pay my gas? Is that REALLY how lazy this industry is getting where real estate now consists of having tenants peak through windows so neighbors think we're casing the place? Do you REALLY think we can get a good feel for the place tip toeing outside in a rose garden getting thorns in my legs? Does that even make sense? Overall, I've had now two terrible experiences with property management companies but thankfully two excellent ones as well. However, talking with her was like trying to talk with a customer service rep from overseas, irritating and frustrating. Questions were not directly answered and conflicting info from website and her early statements. I worked in leasing before so knew the right questions to ask and in my opinion it felt like she was someone who should be filing not someone responsible for helping homeowners rent their six figure houses. We all have to do things in real estate we don't love to or want to but we do it because that's our job. If you don't like it then there are over 8% of unemployed who will GLADLY do it. She had two people with over 700 credit, excellent references, pet resume, all needed paperwork ready to go and she did not call us back nor want to do any work on a Saturday which was as simple as showing us properties THEY marketed. In my opinion I would be very scared of using someone who looses great tenants due to someone who doesn't want to "go out of their way" to show houses. So the lesson here is my friends, in my opinion, when a property management tells you to go see it first that's the first warning signs that either (a) it's in a area that might not be good or a dump and they want you to approve said dump and ok with it since other people must have said so in conversations or they know it or (b) they don't feel like working on a Saturday and will use any excuse not to do so, either way it's bad for tenants like me. read more

These guys do their best to keep us renters well served and happy. They have bent over backwards to help us with deadlines and with repairs. I only wish they had more properties so more people could experience old-school caring from a landlord@! read more

I just called to view a property and the lady was so rude. I explained that I did not NEED to peek through a window because I live in the area so I am familiar with the neighborhood. Her response? "If that's too difficult for you, my owner probably won't want to rent to you anyway." Excuse me! I have a vehicle, good credit, all my cash up front, and a very stable job as a government employee and you want to talk to me like I am trash. STAY AWAY from these people. It just sounds bogus. I have never met a realty group that tried so hard NOT to rent their properties in my life. read more

Yeah. I wished I would have read the reviews before I contacted these people. I saw a posting, and called at about 3:30pm. The woman who answered really didn't even want to talk to me, because I had yet to view the property. It was like pulling teeth to get her to answer my questions. I went and looked at it the next morning, before 6am, liked what I saw, and left a message to please call me, that I wanted the place. I also left the time when I would be calling again. No call. So when I did call back, this is literally our conversation. "Hi, I am calling about XYZ property." "Oh, it is rented, thank you for calling." Seriously. He tried to hang up on me. He treated me like I was something on his shoe he picked up from a dog park. I was so irritated with both of those who answered the phone, that they could offer a place to me on a silver platter, and I would refuse. Poor customer service will yield you poor customers. read more
