Tried their Samosa and bread pakora with the accompanying chutneys... samosa's are not cooked properly, the skin of samosa is thick and undercooked. Bread pakora has curry leaves added in it, which is not how it's supposed to be. Chutneys are super watered down, like literal water.. no thickness. Imli chutney doesn't have imli added it seems. I wish there were good authentic Halwai's around to give these mediocre places some competition. But for now, i guess we have no choice! read more

This is a place to come in and just pick up a few or more things to go. The lady working behind the counter was very helpful. They have a bunch, say 15 different types of munchies from India sold by the pound. They also have samosas and potato balls, and other type finger foods. In the cooler they have prepackaged, home made veggie curries. Everything is reasonably priced. I prefer spicy munchies and asked for recommendations, I was allowed to taste them before I bought as well. I ended up buying more than I planned to because everything I tasted was delicious and I couldn't choose just 1. The samosas were large and filled with a slightly spicy potatoe and pea filling. The dough wasn't too thick, but substantial enough to to hold the hearty filling. The potatoe ball shell was made with chick pea flour, adding protein to this hearty snack. Also a little spicy. Food was nicely prepared,packed to take it on time to serve them for lunch. Highly recommend this place!! Once the young lady owner rejected my 5$ notes. Atleast they should give good reason for refusing.. It's a federal crime to refuse real money. Looks like she wants crisp money. When I told the lady owner I come to real usha for many decades 25 years around and asked if she is the daughter of the elderly lady owner who died , she said no . That's why the food and service is not good. Looks like they are encouraging digitization/ digital currency only. Since they don't charge tax on credit card. I am for both. Last time3 days back I bought yogurt dish it's called srikhand . It was fluffy. It's supposed to be thick. There is toilet but not for customers. Side non veg restaurants is also owned by them but rented to a Bangladeshi . Service and attitude specially of owners are not good. Once a lady employee told me to write what I want. Depending on time and day, it can get packed very quickly and become chaotic. The two separate lines for sweets and foods re confusing and unnecessary. The samosas are huge and come with 2 side condiments. I love the variation of sweets as I always get the gullible Jamon which is placed in the best rose water syrup. This is as close as it gets to mithai boxed and flown straight from India. I have used them for festivals and for engagement mithai boxes. The ladies have always taken care to pack everything nicely and offer suggestions on packing which mithais with which. Their store space is small inside and there is often some confusion with the line, but for the taste, I couldn't be bothered. Grab some chai and a chaat while you wait for your big orders to be prepared. Note: Recently went here and noticed it is RUSS Cafe: Real Usha Sweets & Snacks. I've heard there is a new owner. Usha Sweets & Snacks is the place to be if you are into Indian sweets, snacks and things that you never knew existed. They also have a great catering service which we have used in the past. Get used to the lines though because on a weekend Indians from the tri-state area frequent the shop to get their fill of gathias, puri, chana chor garam, jalebi, sakar para, kaju katri and the like. Some of the snacks do not phase me anymore because I've been having this since it opened. But to newcomers it's like a vegetarian snackiing paradise. I was here with my family yesterday on Diwali. We ordered samosas and other snacks and were told it would be a five minute wait. 20 mins later, with our parking meter close to expiring, none of the people working gave us any update on our order though they could see us clearly waiting (this is a super tiny store). We then asked several of the ppl working how long our order would be and a woman named Rita rudely snapped at us. Her behavior was unprofessional and incredibly unnecessary. We had legitimate reasons to ask for our order. Another worker told us they'd started frying something else in between rather than taking care of our order--which was placed first. Waiting close to half an hour for samosas which other stores like this one usually have made well in advance esp on Diwali is crazy but it was the rude tone and behavior of the people working which really upset all of us. Next time I will not bother with this place and go to Apna Bazaar or Patel Brothers where samosas and other snacks are ready to be served within mins. Oh, and as far as the food, we found a hair in one of the samosas and threw everything we ordered away. $13 in the trash. I'm telling everyone I know to stay away from this dirty dump read more

Food might be good... BAB BAD Service .. No phone manners and dont know how to to talk to customers. Part of it is that they think they have enough customers they think they dont need you. They say we take custom order or parcel it but when u call they dont even listen to you and start saying NO NO before hanging up on you. This place is legit! I am from Mumbai, a snackers paradise, and I miss and crave my farsan fix. Usha has the best chana chor I have had in the US, the best papadi ghatia and very very decent bhel puri. And excellent khaman dhokla. Its also very inexpensive, totally comparable with farsan from an Indian grocery store but made fresh, not trucked in from Toronto or Mumbai. What other reviewers say about the ambiance is totally true. I was there on a blazing hot day, the door was wide open, the A/C over the door was leaking fluid over everyone and I swear was blowing hot air out. I felt right at home. The servers are older and hard of hearing, but they are sweet and give me free samples. Be patient when you visit, but its well worth the trip. read more
