The restaurant is colorful the host was nice but the owners who were sitting in the restaurant were not very nice. I walked in and the only thing I felt was their face looking and staring at me , I did not feel welcome, it was not just one person but the 6 ppl that were sitting in two tables. I could not believe that in Mexico I would ever feel unwelcome just bc of the color of my skin. With tears in my eyes I walk out bc the ppl there were very obvious and just with their nasty stares kick me out of a restaurant. On Saturday afternoons, a live band plays gently in the background, giving the whole place a festive but unhurried rhythm. We started with sparkling water mixed with the traditional suero of salt and lemon--simple, refreshing, and perfectly suited to the warm afternoon. Guacamole came fresh, framed by crisp corn chips along the edges of the plate. The real star was the corn tortillas, served piping hot in an embroidered sack made just for the restaurant. Soft, fragrant, and full of flavor, they were so good we ordered a second round without hesitation. Service was attentive, though at moments it felt a little rushed. For mains, we ordered two classics. The Chile en Nogada arrived with a thick sauce made from evaporated milk, sugar, cream cheese, almonds, cinnamon, and even canned peach juice. The result was overwhelmingly sweet, drowning out the other elements like the meat and pomegranate. The Carne en su Jugo, described as meat with vegetables, came instead as a brothy, spicy soup. Real has a very nice, antique style patio. Live mexican music and very friendly and professional service make this place an excellent spot to rest roaming the old center of Tlaquepaque walking streets. I was amazed to realize the menu included chile en nogada although it was not the season. Only a slight tuning for the pomegranate to distinguish between the off-season, and the taste was still absolutely fantastic. Just a side note for the ones not familiar with this traditional Mexican dish; it does not have anything to do with stuffed chile, and based on my own experiences since two decades in Puebla, CDMX and other parts of Mexico where I have managed to taste this speciality, this specific one was extraorinarily well prepared, respecting the authentic style, with the rich spectrum of flavors from chile poblano, carne picada, fruits, creamy nuts-based sauce, and laborous cooking process. The salmon was also delicious, tasty and juicy, prepared to medium. The included bread and chile sauces were of high quality too. The frozen margaritas were well in par with the rest of the high quality offerings. Yet, the total bill was not at all exaggerated for such a treat. Should I ever have a chance to visit this place again some day, with all the fine menu items, I am already tempted to order the lamb shank (chamorro), having a strong feeling it will comply with my high expectations. read more

Before sitting us down they swapped the tables with the people next to us since their table wasn't steady; hence their solution was to give us their table. Restaurant is lovely. Extremely clean. Lots of artwork and a fountain right in the middle of the restaurant which is very soothing. Very peaceful. Live music is soft and enjoyable while eating. Food was delicious. I'm not a meat eater but everything I tried was so good and flavorful. They have omelettes, pancakes, delicious cheese and various types of quesadillas. Of course have to mention the delicious homemade tortillas. So good. The coffee was fabulous. To top it all was our server Jesus was the epitome of what an excellent waiter should be. On vacation to Jalisco, we took a half day trip to beautiful Tlaquepaque. We've been here in the past and tried other restaurants. We thought we'd try this place out after noticing they have a different menu. We ordered the chapulines/grasshoppers with guacamole as an appetizer (delicious garlicky lemon flavor), pulpo a las brazas/grilled octopus (perfectly cooked and seasoned just right), rellenitos en nogada /meat stuffed jalapeños with creamy nutty sauce (perfect sized and delicious). The drinks were a bit weak (tequila sunrise and a Paloma). But overall, everything was awesome. And they had a live band playing covers of hit Spanish music. Awesome ambiance, delicious food and great service. Will be back. read more

We had a group of 7 and they were ready to accommodate us with no reservation. We did the Buffett which was great for our group to try everything. They have some amazing coffee. I'm not a coffee drinker but whatever they did here was awesome and I think it had some flavorful cinnamon in it. From fresh orange juice to local juices they have everything for everybody. Excellent ambiance, service and food. Menus available in English too. The pork shank was freaking amazing. Highly recommend with the local Estrella cerveza. I also noticed they were cleaning windows, and other parts of the restaurant which is nice to see attention to detail. I am glad that many people who were essentially forced to eat here from their tour groups actually enjoyed their meals. The atmosphere was cute, I will give this place that. However, given the number of restaurants in the area, you are better off eating at another place and NOT here. Tlaquepaque has style, and I am sure better food than here. I wanted the Chile Relleno, but they didn't have that so I got the Chile en Nogada, which tasted like nothing I expected. It was covered in sweetened cranberries, some sort of sweetened alcoholic (prob tequila) yogurt sauce, with peppers covering meat cooked with tomato sauce. WTF was I eating..?? Nice little spot. Really good food but very slow service. I had a delicious chicken mole dish, flan and coffee. I was a little disturbed to watch the cleaners take water from the fountain to use for washing the floor. Ugh! While in Tlaquepaque we had lunch at a very nice restaurant that boasted crocodile, boar and quail in their menu, we didn't order any of the above, but I thought that a restaurant that carried this dishes was worth a try. We ordered a soup that was called eclipse and consisted of half of the bowl with cream of corn and the other half had cream of huitlacoche. It was very very good and the presentation was excellent. We also had a filet mignon served over mashed potatoes with a creamy pecan sauce. The dish was simply delicious. The last plate we ordered were the must have during the month of September, "chiles en nogada". They are meat stuffed poblano peppers covered in a semisweet pecan sauce. They were excellent. The food and the service were both excellent and to top it all off they had live music which was a very nice touch. I would definitely recommend this restaurant. read more

Ordered a soup and it was served with the meal and it was so salty I couldn't eat the the dish. This place is definitely not a place you have dinner. The music is great and so is the drink. So if your looking for a place to have drinks and listen to great music this is the place but not to have dinner especially steak. I'm am not much of a Mexican food expert. What we had here was Aztec soup and the house salad. Both nice and delicious and in good portion. And my husband some sort of veal fillet with cheese on it, he had to remove the cheese otherwise it would have been a very heavy meal, but the rest with lots of green pepper on it was good. Then we had a cream brûlée with tequila sauce on it, not bad. And the coffee my husband ordered smelled fresh and good. The place is nice and clean and the service is attentive . They have the menu in English if you ask and their band plays nice music. A nice and smooth experience over all. read more
