Here are some of my thoughts about EA: -Choice of patio or outdoor seating. -Enjoyed the mariachi band : ) -Ordered the mixed plate--with pork, chicken, and beef. I especially liked the pork. The cheese and chorizo makes for a nice combo. -Festive atmosphere. -Service was very slow, but good. -One thing I really liked is they brought out a mug with salt on the rim, like a margarita, for my lager : ) -It is a loud venue, difficult to hear. -They have a private parking lot, which is very convenient. -The prices are very reasonable, about $17 U.S. per person, including drinks and tips. This place was beautiful. You pretty much sit outside in a court yard filled with trees and a water fountain. The food was ok. I had the ribeye and it was not the best. But adding some salsa helped. Great lunch spot! Perfect for a big group (there was actually another wedding party here lol) Very authentic restaurant in a great location. Complimentary chips and salsa. The place is beautiful and great service with a side of music of traditional mariachi bands. Loved the atmosphere and the overall experience. Food quality was basic, apparently from per our friends this place used to be really good until they turned into a tourist trap at tlaquepacue.... Again definitely come here for the experience but food was okay. read more

We went back twice during our trip! The vibe is excellent! We made friends with our server Gerardo he was the best and both times we made sure we were with him! They have 2 Mariachi's 1 who we also made friends with! This place is way better than El Parian though my only complaint is how early they close the food is delicious I didn't get a picture but the Gorditas were A+++! Had about 4 Casuelas each time we went and we literally left crawling out of there it was a great time! Next time I'm booking the hotel that's right in front of this place LOL read more

Great ambiance but the service was terrible. The food was expensive and the quality of the meat was inedible. Those of us in the group that dared eat it got sick the next day. They charged $98 usd for a "parillada" for 4 but it was the sized for two. It would be okay if the food was good, but the meat tasted old and chewy. The ambiance is great. They had a mariachi band. Nice place. Terrible service. Waited 30 minutes to get drinks. Just be patient. It's a classic Hacienda style restaurant. Looks like it's very famous. They have live music and dancers. One of perks of visiting Guadalajara is tasting good food and of course the TEQUILA!! This one time I was visiting Guadalajara with my friends, we roamed the streets and had tequila tastings in almost all corners. Literally. It was late afternoon and I was hungry and thirsty. We were pointed to El Abajeño, one of most recognizable restaurants in Tlaquepaque and glad we stopped here. This authentic Mexican restaurants has a large garden patio and filled with Mexican culture. We were sat and was served very quick. We ordered the famous "Cazuelitas" which is a cocktail made of tequila, grapefruit soda and fruits. They are served in actual Cazuelas and taste fantástico! While we sipped our cazuelas and waited for our delicious Sizzling fajitas Parrillada; we enjoyed the mariachi group playing in the center of the garden with the traditional female dancers and their fluorescent colored long dresses. Venue is great and typical Mexico. The waiter was distracted- wasn't busy- they give tourists a milder tequila so they won't get drunk per the waiter when we questioned the tequila in our drink. We told him that was not on the menu and they should serve what they advertise on menu. Food is ok. read more

I absolutely loved this place! We accidentally stumbled into this place. It was packed! There were 2 Mariachi bands roaming through the venue. They were well dressed and extremely good! We payed for about 4 songs and they serenaded our table! Top notch performance. The food and drink were great! The customers were of a higher caliber! Very well dressed and upper class! Charged twice on credit card, BE AWARE!!! Waiter forgot to order our food, 40 min to get it. I asked for chips he never bring it. After paying and leaving, He followed us to demand for a tip. I said that I will NOT tip bad service. He said the tip was for a maintenance service that the restaurant charges to all waiters (lies). Now at home checking my statement report I found that he charged the bill twice and my bank told me that there were two charges with a gap in time. I guess the waiter charged twice and decided to take it as tip (a not authorized tip - FRAUD), Definitely be aware when you pay with credit/debit cards. Do not trust this business with your credit/debit card, because if they wish they just over charge you. read more
