It's not in an area that I'm in much anymore, but I decided to make a special trip out there to check it out and run a few errands in the neighbourhood while I was there. They were having a BOGO deal on UberEats, so I ordered on that platform for pickup. I got the Lychee Fruit Tea with lychee jelly ($8.09 BOGO). I got less ice and the lowest sugar option available, which was 50%. When I picked up my order, I was greeted by Alan, the owner (could be Allan or Allen, not sure if the spelling, sorry). He was very friendly and welcoming. He told me they had just opened the week before. His wife owns the nail salon next door (Shangri La Nails) and both spaces used to be the salon, but she felt she didn't need all that space, so divided up the space and he opened up Cha Miao. Great idea! People can get their nails done then grab a bubble tea, lol. Anyway, he's going to see how business goes, but really hopes to expand and open a location in Kanata and one in Orleans, in a year or two. Oh my mom and brother would love it if they opened up in Orleans since they are also bubble tea aficionados, haha. The tea was delicious! I loved the pieces of real lychee in it and the lychee jelly is the soft homemade type of jelly and not the firm rectangular pieces of jelly that most bubble tea shops carry. I also loved the pink colour of the drink ;) I enjoyed the tea, but I felt I could have gone with a lower sugar option, like 25-30%. So I would recommend that they offer that as an option. The space is small. There are a few seats inside, but I feel it's more suitable for takeout. The place seems popular. As I was leaving, 3 teenagers came in and I overheard that they were just there the day before, lol. I'm glad that the shop has return customers. I want them to do well because I want a location in Orleans for my mom, haha. They are located in a small strip mall. Same strip mall as Cosmos Souvlaki. Free parking available in the shared strip mall parking lot.

The Long Version: This Chatime opened in late summer of 2025 in the plaza where Walmart is, but it's near the St. Louis Bar and Grill, CAA, and Thai Express. I was happy to see it open because the location nearby on Merivale Rd in the Emerald Plaza closed down (and became a Tealive. As an aside, I have no idea what's going on between Chatime and Tealive because 3 locations that were Chatimes in Ottawa closed down and shortly after Tealives opened in their places). Anyway, this location is a bit smaller than the former Merivale location but it still has a good amount of seating. It's bright and clean and still looks new, lol. I got a regular lychee QQ ($5.20). I got no added sugar and less ice. QQ is tapioca pearls and coconut jelly. This drink was just juice, no tea. The drink was great and I got a good amount of toppings. The prices are the same too! Although the portion size at Coco's is smaller than Brett's. However, I live much closer to Coco's. I discovered Coco's Cafe and Creamery here on Yelp! I didn't even know that it existed, despite the fact that I live relatively close by. Good thing I was trolling for ice cream shops nearby on my trusty Yelp App! Lol. So they only have soft serve ice cream, no hard/scoop ice cream. They have coffee, affogato, and "Blizzardz" (which are like Dairy Queen Blizzards or McDonald's McFlurries). I had a small vanilla cone with a Pina Colada flavour burst ($2.25+$1=$3.25), and my husband had a medium vanilla cone with a coffee n' cream flavour burst ($3.25+$1=$4.25). I enjoyed my ice cream. The Pina Colada flavour was not intense enough in my opinion. I would have liked a more potent pineapple coconut flavour. My husband enjoyed his cone too. I had a taste of his and found the coffee flavour mild as well. Service was efficient and courteous. The person was wearing a mask, which I appreciated during these Covid Pandemic times. So you can only access this place while going westbound on Carling Ave (there is a median, so you cannot turn into the place while going eastbound. Also when you exit, you have to keep going westbound, which is a bit inconvenient if you want to go eastbound). You need to turn into the parking lot once you see the auto shop (Treff's Auto Centre/Coco Auto Service). If you drive until you actually see the Coco's Cafe and Creamery, it's too late, you've passed it. There is a chalk sandwich board that says "ice cream" to kind of alert you, but it's not too prominent. The ice cream shop is just a window where you order. There's 1 picnic table there where you can eat your ice cream. Or you can eat it in your car in the parking lot, lol. Or I guess you can walk along Carling Ave and eat your ice cream, although Carling is not the prettiest of streets, haha. Anyway, if you like Brett's Ice Cream but live east of Kanata and think driving to Kanata is too far, give Coco's Cafe and Creamery a try! There is free parking in the same lot as the auto centre.

I am really happy to see a legit bubble tea shop open up in Westboro. Admittedly Presotea is not my favourite bubble tea chain because they rarely have any ongoing specials, at least that's the case with the locations here in Ottawa (I know locations in bigger cities have specials). Other chains like Coco Fresh Tea and Chatime have a Tea of the Month or Monthly Special where a featured tea is discounted (the price is usually $5 or less), even here in Ottawa. Presotea has no such thing :( However, they did have a Grand Opening Special (Sept 3 and 4, 2022) where if you bought any drink you could get a free drink from a set list of drinks. Fingers crossed this location will have some specials occasionally after their Grand Opening, lol. Most of the drinks at Presotea are $7.49-$8.99 (for the regular size) and some of those don't even have any toppings (toppings are an additional $1 each). So expect to pay $10 or more for a drink when you consider taxes and tips, if you are paying regular price. Of note though, their Large size is epically huge, lol. The Regular size is sufficient for me and my appetite is larger than most, haha. However, if you really love bubble tea and don't mind carrying around a comically large cup, you might want to pay the extra dollar and get the large ;) Service here is good. Staff are very nice. Their drinks are consistent with other Presotea locations in Ottawa. I usually get my drinks with no sugar and less ice and this is perfect for me, as I don't like my drinks too sweet. It's quite a bargain when you get ones with cheese mousse or real fruit. It's delicious drinking the tea mixed with the mousse... Or you can enjoy the mousse on top seperately. Either way, the drink taste like a delicious liquid cheesecake. The brown sugar Bobo milk tea is one of my favorite now. It's my go-to when competitive tea shops offer monthly specials that's not "my cup of tea".

I got the Chocolate Milk Tea with Cheese Mousse ($5.99), which was one of the least expensive drinks. You get to choose your sweetness and ice levels. I got "less sugar" (which is less than "half sugar" but more than "no sugar" - so probably about 25-35% of what they would normally use) and regular ice. I felt that the sweetness was perfect for me. I would definitely find full-strength sweetness too sweet. And there was very minimal ice in my drink, yet it was cold, so this too was perfect for me. Like I mentioned earlier, the drink tasted like a salted caramel cheesecake. The cheese mousse on top was slightly salty but also sweet. It was more like a frothy foam. There was also something like a vanilla pudding swirled into the drink. I honestly didn't taste much tea flavour. The drink itself was like a chocolate milk. The drink was rich and decadent. Most bubble tea shops just buy dehydrated prepackaged tapioca and they merely boil it in-store. OneZo also makes flavoured tapioca, like mango, cactus and black sesame tapioca. Their tapioca toppings are $1, so more expensive than most places which charge only $0.50-$0.75, but I feel it's worth it. On my first visit, I actually didn't get a drink with tapioca in it, lol, but was enticed by the Strawberry Mochi Niuniu (large for $6.99). It was a hot day and this drink is a smoothie, so I went for it. The drink has strawberry puree at the bottom, then a layer of mochi and then topped with strawberry smoothie. The sugar level is fixed for this drink, so I found it too sweet, but it was still good. Now the mochi is not like pieces of chewy mochi, like the toppings at frozen yogurt places, it's a sticky, gooey liquid (yeah, it sounds gross, and I'm sure many people find it gross, so caveat emptor, lol, but I like it). However, it wasn't as thick as at Tiger Sugar, so I didn't like the mochi at OneZo as much, but I still enjoyed my drink. On my second visit I got a large Strawberry Tea ($5.99) with OneZo Tapioca ($1). OneZo Tapioca is a mix of crystal, mango and purple tapioca. Very colourful! I was a bit disappointed that the sweetness was also fixed for this drink at 25% as I would have preferred no sugar, but it was still ok and not excessively sweet, though sweeter than my preference. The tapioca were soft and chewy, although admittedly, all 3 flavours kind of tasted the same to me in the drink, haha. They have an app you can download to collect points for freebies. Service was very courteous and helpful. The store is in the same strip mall as Baklawa King, Daal Roti, KFC, Top Trimmers Hair Studio, DN Nails & Spa and W Flowers. Lots of free parking. The Long Version: Bliss Tea opened up where Sip Tea used to be on Merivale Ave. I think they just rebranded because their drinks taste similar and when I entered my phone number to collect points, it already knew my name despite it being my first time there (I had an account with Sip Tea. Mind you I lost all those points and had to start over with Bliss Tea). I got the Coco Mango ($6.49) and added Tea Jelly (an additional $0.80). I got 30% sweet because 0% was not an option. I also got less ice. My drink was delicious! It contained lots of real mango pieces, rich and creamy coconut milk, and the tea jelly had a nice tea flavour and good texture. The tea jelly is big blobs of jelly like the pudding jelly or herbal/grass/Mesona jelly that's also a bubble tea topping option. It's not neat little cubes or rectangles like coconut jelly. They have a self-ordering kiosk where you select what you want on the screen and pay by card. If you want to pay cash you have to order from the cashier, but you can only pay cash at the cashier. You can't order from the cashier and pay by card. So many rules, lol. There are instructions next to the self-ordering kiosk and on the kiosk itself so it's pretty easy to use. I was thankful for the instructions because the screen was all in Chinese when I started but there were arrows that pointed where to press to change the language. Once it was in English it was really straightforward. Service was quick. I had very little interaction with staff. They basically called out my order number and gave me my drink, lol. There's no real seating. There's this bench along the wall towards the front and 2 really short stools (one of which was on top of the bench). I think it's just a place to sit while you wait for your drinks. It doesn't look like a comfortable place to hang out for long.
