RealDry's website states they service all of Massachusetts and address both crawlspaces and basements, so I reached out via their website contact form about the wet crawlspace in my western massachusetts property, and included its address. I received an email response from owner Curt, "You are currently out of our service area. You can try XYZ Company". His email signature's phone number had a 617 area code (Boston) and my property is in western MA, so I wondered if my query had been inadvertently sent to a Boston-area office. The site listed a different phone number for western MA, so I called it. I asked the man who answered if they serviced my western massachusetts town, and he said, "are you that lady with the crawlspace? Yeah, we don't do crawlspaces, and I have alot of work." I said thank you, wished him a good day and hung up. So, while I'm disappointed I won't get to work with RealDry, as I thought they had the expertise I needed, I'm annoyed to be lied to by the owner TWICE - first about the company's service area via email, and a second time, after he revealed he'd lied about the service area when I called their office close to my property and then additionally told me the company doesn't work on crawlspaces even though they prominently list crawlspaces on their website's homepage. If you're too busy, or don't want to consider the job for some other reason, just say you're too busy from the get-go. Don't lie - and don't lie repeatedly. It informs others that you're dishonest. The recommended "XYX company" was more than happy to come out and see the wet crawlspace RealDry was too self-important to bother with. read more

Every once in a while you come by exceptional work. We have had issues with water pooling and some flooding in our home for some time. We tried everything. We have an internal sump and an external sump pit as we live "on" the Quabbin. We'd always sought to mitigate by backups and alarms, etc. but Steve brought a new perspective to the table. Keep it simple and direct. Change your pumps within a cadence. Steve COULD have sold me on a french drain around the interior of the basement, but instead was able to determine that one of the perimeter walls just need to connect to the drainage, and that the drainage itself needed to be altered. So, for a fair and very small fractio of the cost of a french drain, Steve was able to jackhammer part of the floor to determine the issue. there wasn't rock under the basement! With updating the flow of the rainwater from that side of the basement, Steve solved the issue. Steve is direct and to the point. He's not going to waste your time. He is an expert with not only a strong skill set and many years of experience, but an inherent understanding of how to approach the customer conversation. There is significant value, both tangible and intangible, in this. I will be working with Steve on any water issues in the future...though I don't expect any, and I can't recommend him and his team enough. Feel free to reach out to me if you have any questions. The owner Steve is extremely rude and disrespectful and has no problem screaming at you on the phone. I do not know that I can recommend him for work based on this. No one deserves to be spoken to like that by anyone. This is not good business. He has done many jobs with outstanding results for many people within this place. However, I am not sure it is worth the verbal tongue lashing he likes to give out for no reason whatsoever. It is really bad!! To Steve, Work on your communication skills and your bedside manner (if you will). Or give a 50% discount to those customers that have had to endure your bad attitude in any way. If you have options, go with people who won't be jerks. If they were this rude to a prospective client offering to give them thousands of dollars like myself I can't imagine how they treat existing clients. For starters, the person answering the phone has no idea what is going on. I need my foundation fixed so, upon researching this company and their website, I was pleased to see literal pictures of them fixing foundation repairs as one of their core services. Great! So, I called to schedule an appointment and I may as well have been speaking another language. This person was utterly confused as to why I would be calling about foundation repairs despite the fact this is mentioned all over their website! So, okay, no big deal, this person says she will have the owner call me about whether they can do this. So I get a call from the owner and it is as if I am wasting his precious time in wanting to potentially give him thousands of dollars. Call starts with "what is it you want?" So I say I need my foundation repaired. He bluntly replies "I'm too busy to do foundation repairs. Can't do it". Okay so I ask if anyone else he would recommend and he says "that's not what I do" and abruptly ends the call. Pretty shocked at the whole experience. Am writing this as a warning so you know what exactly you're dealing with. read more

We spent too many years of dealing on our own with basement water issues. We finally decided to get some help and reached out to Steve Wall at REAL DRY WATERPROOFING after getting a very high recommendation from a neighbor - and reading the many online reviews from satisfied customers who had a variety of basement water situations. We called and he stopped by later that day! Steve clearly explained in detail what he would do to end our water problem: install a sump pump in one corner and a French drain around the perimeter of our 1500 sq ft basement. The drain was needed because water was seeping up through the concrete floor. We also had a small crawl space under an addition on the back of the house that needed its own small sump pump. He gave us a reasonable cost estimate and shortly after his visit, he and his team started the project. Steve, Chris, Simon and Matt were all top-notch professionals, extremely competent and very respectful. At the end of each day, Steve kept us in the loop showing what they had done and planned to do going forward. He patiently answered all our questions. His team also went above and beyond in helping with an extra request that we could not have done ourselves for which we're truly grateful. In addition, he stayed true to the original estimate! He even called a week or so later to touch base. We no longer have any worries at all when it rains. There's not a speck of water anywhere! Do yourself a favor & stay far away! The owner Curt is at least lazy but more likely a thief. Last spring, my mother spent $3800 having him install a sump pump and add better drainage to the exterior of the house. October of 2018, he was supposed to install a back up pump for my mother. Instead she came home to two inches of water in her basement because he forgot to plug the pump back in before he left. It is also obvious that he did not test out the sump pump before leaving because there is a huge leak where two pvc pipes join. Even if the pump did collect water, it would come right back out through the leak. My mother sent him two emails & called once about it. He didn't offer to fix it, just said he must have forgot to plug it back in. His "solution" is to come & remove the back up pump, not to fix anything, not to pay for the water damage or cleanup of the water he caused. After many weeks of researching how to deal with a damp, moldy crawl space, I got to the point where I contacted a number of contractors to take care of my problem. This is something that can be done on a DIY basis, but there is actually more to it than meets the eye. Curt showed up on time to inspect as he had agreed and provided me with recommendations of increasing depth (and cost). The quoted costs were very much consistent with others. I liked the fact that I was dealing with the owner and not a sales rep. He addressed the mold issue that others passed over. He presented a plan that explained each step. Everything that was quoted was fully consistent with what is accepted as best practice in the field. There were ways to do this more cheaply but not more effectively. There was never any pressure. Any questions that I had were addressed promptly and fully. The crew that installed everything was well prepared, polite, and well prepared to answer questions. Follow-up questions were handled quickly and completely. I am pleased with the results and the experience was positive, given that I had to solve a problem that I would have preferred not to have.
