i have a 18month GSD malinois and have had RBD for more than half a year now. its a great company with more than adequate transparency about their treats and chews. its $40 a box a month for their treats and chews package. (smaller packs are $21 or $23 for treats only) they air dry things like liver, salmon, pig ears and many more natural treats. they recently went through an isolated incident where a customer had 2 dogs (30ish pounds each) who were fed A WHOLE TURKEY WING EACH , 1 of which DIGESTED IT FULLY. one did not and had problems that resulted in her having to take one of her dogs to the emergency vet and came out with a $1.6K bill. she was unhappy and reached out to RBD about asking them to pull wings off the box selection. RBD replied to which she did not like reply and hence, came an onslaught of unfounded attacks at the company. RBD posted a timeline of all correspondence and everything that happened since then (incl CANCEL CULTURE). Tried a sample box but did it did not specify what would be included. Some of these items are just entirely risky to feed dogs. If you don't like, or they are bad, etc, they don't do prepaid labels to help customers and retain some level of trust - but whats worse is that I sent back an entirely unopened and unused box , it was rejected after following their instructions, I had to purchase return postage on my own, it was delivered and they still claim they didn't receive it after weeks. Now I have no product, no refund, and paid for postage all for nothing. I've been a member for over 3 years. I used to home cook and now feed raw. The way I used the boxes (I get two boxes a month) is that I'm able to add fresh food and variety in a way I normally would not be able to. I have two small Boston Terriers and I love that I can add things like rabbit feet, rabbit ears, duck heads, elk, bison and duck. These are items I cannot buy easily on my own since I don't do co-ops or commercial raw. I buy all my ingredients for their meals at Costco or Vons and they don't carry exotic proteins. I use their treats and chews and add it to their bowls easily. I love their customer service (you can text them) and all of the nutritional support they provide. I also love that they source and make my dog's treats and chews and they show behind the scenes of how that all happens. Prompt delivery of very high quality real dog food treats. i feed my dogs mostly freeze-dried or dehydrated raw meat treats. The package size is perfect for a 22 pound and 12 pound dog. Both dogs gave the kidney treat we opened first a thorough sniff test, and then chomped down. The smaller dog tends to "inhale" her food in as few bites as possible. I was pleasantly surprised that unlike similar treats from other brands' she ate them in small enough bites that she didn't cough/choke like she often does. I hesitated a little before ordering this box, since I don't know much about feeding bones and meats to my dog. But once I saw a few people receive their orders, I jumped right on it! Delivery was very quick and I was able to text the number to make sure the person who referred me received their free treat - and the response was almost instant. Only down side to the company, is the login process - it's a bit annoying to have to get verification each time I login instead of using a password. Always ready to buy any item for my fluffy child, I was ready to sign on when someone described Real Dog Box. But since he gets everything under the sun, most of it proves a miss and ends up in the trash. The appeal is the Chews that work away at nasty plaque. My little guy has crooked, twisted, gross teeth. So I was skeptical and hoped RDB would tide him over until the inevitable, soil-crushing dental visit. A year later, the difference is shocking. His dominant chewing side is better than I've ever seen, all sparkly white. The other side is better, with the exception of his twisty fang. RDB is a real game-changer. My dog knows the box when it arrives, he loves them (the creepier the better) and I like how they are sorted by toughness. The toughest ones are a good distraction when you need your dog happy and silent. I live in NYC and for months have been looking for quality raw food for my furkid. It's surprisingly hard to pull off. Without going through too much detail, I've tried Amazon (uncertain quality that differs from brand to brand, many products with very few reviews, packages too large to just try), farmer's markets (messy raw, seasonal availability, limited types and quantities), and pet stores (have not actually come across any that stock quality raw my dog will touch). I was ecstatic to come across RealPetFood on Instagram. Essentially a Barkbox for dehydrated raw dog food. Instead of accumulating a pile of toys my dog will never get around to using - or a bunch of junk food treats, this lets her try diff cuts of raw meat/offal in small doses. Some of the features I was impressed with: Human grade food - I can smell the difference right away - most processed dog food smells not that great. Not messy! I throw the bags in the fridge/freezer and use as treats as needed. Compared to wet raw, easy to break off tiny pieces, and no blood. Nice variety - the first month had pollack, lean pork meat, chicken feet, turkey liver, pig ear, lamb esophagus. Great to try obscure things without having to buy a whole bag. Cards that explain each type of meat - not really necessary but nice touch. Can specify any meat allergies - they will substitute Ability to do every two months - pretty useful, as I learned from past experience with Barkbox Super responsive customer service - pretty much instant reply to text or messages. Overall, really happy with the service. I think it's a great idea that actually is a sustainable model (as opposed to Barkbox...). I want to eat well. So why shouldn't my dog eat well too? Starting this off by saying I rarely do subscriptions. I tend to balk at anything that increases my monthly cost. However, I also enjoy giving my dog quality food and treats without the mess of keeping raw and home cooked foods cold, or the difficulty of finding dog store treats without a half dozen extra ingredients. Real dog box offers convenient storage by air drying their treats. They offer variety in their boxes and the secret shop. They are a small business local to California who goes the extra mile for their customers. Not only this, but they go the extra mile for other small businesses through their local stamp cards. They are EXTREMELY responsive, respectful and helpful in their customer service. When I tried to pause my account, I took too long to do so. My account was charged anyways. I reached out to them through email and they promptly replied and offered either a refund or a credit to my account. On another day I emailed them asking to make a one time order. They provided me with a list and pricing of each item. I listed off what I would like, and they put in the order on my behalf. Very easy to work with. Most of all, for the quality they offer they have competitive prices that simply cannot be beaten. I recently received a discount for another air dried company. I made my one-off purchase while tired after work, using their large discount. For the amount I spent on this other company (including the discount) I purchased 6 items (one of which was really one item cut into three pieces). For that same amount I could have purchased 9 items from Real Dog Box AND each item would have had a larger quantity per bag. While I'm still annoyed I didn't do the math then, it has reinforced that Real Dog Box is the way to go. Quality products. Quality service. Small business and an unbeatable price. I adore Real Dog Box. I really like that you can TEXT instead of call. I ended up moving, and although I changed my address, the system didn't update correctly, so my box ended up at my old address, which I no longer had access to. A quick message was all that was needed for them to right their system for next time and send me a new box. I stand with Real Dog Box over this whole cancel culture thing. When I lived in the Northern states, I fed my dog whole prey; deer was a staple. Even raw bones can splinter or create shards. There will always be a risk, regardless of what you feed. Knowing your dog is key and realizing accidents happen. My dog once ate a raw turkey neck (NOT FROM RDB) after eating quite a bit of bone already the day prior. Know what happened? He threw up bone shards! Why? Because it was too much bone! What did I do? I cleaned it up and noted that two heavy bone days in a row were not ideal for my dog. I know a raw feeding friend who had her dog swallow a huge chunk of cow femur off a whole leg. Her dogs pick the meat off, maybe gnaw the hoof for a bit, but once the meat is pretty much gone, she tosses the leg. This lady has raw fed for 20 years! How that happened, we still aren't entirely sure. In her years, she'd never had a cow femur break. The dog ended up with a bowel obstruction due to it, and it had to be surgically removed--freak accident. I tell you all of this in hopes you realize that what RDB offers is a good product, but you also have to use common sense and know your dog. Don't go feeding a bunch of these chews with bone the same day; your dog is probably going to throw up shards of bone. The same is possible if you also give a heavy bone treat two days in a row. Every dog is different; take it slow if you don't know! I know that since all of that went down over the turkey wing, they are changing some things, and I believe they are making an effort to try to please everyone, which is not an easy feat. My dog recently passed away, and I emailed them to let them know that I canceled my subscription because I no longer had a dog due to his passing, not due to the cancel culture. I wanted them to know that when I got a new dog, I would absolutely be back. They refunded the box they had just sent me, something I didn't expect with the email I sent. I ended up donating the box to a rescue group. read more

I absolutely love this subscription, I love how natural and healthy the treats and chews are for my pup! And also how open the company is through their social media in sharing information on their process and sourcing of ingredients! There is a lot of information on nutrition that comes with each box, and they make great treats from all sorts of ingredients that you can't find anywhere else. Also the idea of making this a monthly subscription ensures that they don't need to add any preservatives, and that everything is freshly made (literally your dog's treats were prepared no more than 1-2 months ago) that would normally be used to lengthen the shelf life of this product in stores. After getting this subscription, I stopped buying (and feeding) treats from both big brands and unknown brands (there were so many horror stories from the documentary Pet fooled about dogs dying, and how several companies used the same source for all of their treats under the guise of different "labels"), b/c I couldn't trust how many chemicals were in there, where they were being sourced, etc. Also through this company's Instagram I was highly encouraged to start researching on how to feed my pup raw, which is complimented by these treats. :) You honestly cannot get any healthier than this for your beloved dog! Here are my individual input from the treats I received in my Feb 2020 box: (Seafood) Green Lipped Mussels - our FAVORITE, they smell so strong & fresh that we even tried it ourselves, and our pup loves them. Also the anti-inflammatory effects were a godsend, our dog was just recovering from colitis at the time. (Organ) Beef liver & Pork kidney - my pup loves these, but they look the same haha so it was kind of disappointing compared to the mussels. Also that they're in flat/hard pieces I was kind of afraid I was giving him shards to swallow which would cause him to choke. (Muscle) Pork loin - so easy to break off, the texture is great! Doesn't really have a smell to it :) (Light Chew) steer pizzle - I think these are great, kind of like bully sticks though, just skinnier. Our pup devoured these so fast haha, and they're quite smelly! (Medium Chew) Pig skin - unfortunately, my least favorite. These are really oily. Not too smelly but after handling, my hands would be covered in grease and I have carpet which sucks. My dog did enjoy one, but after having the trachea he started refusing these. I guess they're not as tasty so I'll probably have to give these away or toss them. (Heavy chew) Beef trachea - first time feeding our pup some trachea! Again, it was oily (not as much as the pig skin) but our pup loveess this. He's able to soften it as he chews and break off bits and pieces to enjoy, I can tell it's mentally stimulating for him. The rockfish is impossible to break, so I had to give him the whole piece. Ended up giving away/trash half of last month's box. The only good treat out 10 plus was the duck head.
