My 2 dogs stay together in one stall.
Suzie H.

We have been using CA B&B for 10 years and are very pleased with the care of both our dogs and the property. My 2 large dogs required a lot of exercise as young pups. They stay together in a small stall (like an indoor horse stall) and not in crate boxes. The smaller size of the property allows for this type of accommodation. You do not pay extra for segments of exercise! They always come home and sleep for a day or two from all the activity they get on their vacation. As my dogs have aged, I've had the need to send one with a foot injury which was cared for and healed while I was gone. This is a small, family owned business. I would subtract 1/3 of 1 star for the lack of ability to email reservations and vaccine documentation. While I would prefer to be able to email Heidi, I do understand that she and her small staff are usually in the field with the dogs or horses and that phone and text is more reliable for her. So if you're looking for a Facebook page or other social media connection to this business, you're not likely to find it. They concentrate on the animals - not promotion of the business. The quality of attention and care my dogs have received over the last 10 years is worth the drive to Ramona. I encourage you to check them out! The facilities are top notch, and I know Heidi showed Betty and every guest that she cared for them.

Decided to go with the board and train to ensure she was set for success while away on a trip. I can tell you this place is legit, has the skills, and genuinely cares about their guests. First class service and great communication before/during/after. My puppy came in with minimal training and left a star. Sit, down, stay, leave it, more respect with the cats and my resident dog at home, and way more confidence. They have a family dog, there's kids and other family around, chickens, cats, and more to be exposed to + cuddles galore. I'm very happy with my choice. We'll be back for daycare weekly.

From the phone to drop-off they were excellent at staying in contact and making sure everything we needed was addressed. They kept that same level of communication and dedication during our furry friend's stay, which definitely made me comfortable and secure in leaving my dog there. When we picked up our dog, we were walked through everything that was worked on and were blown away. The progress was undeniable. They will tell you what worked, what didn't, and make sure to work with you to plan for you pet's future needs. 10/10. I can't think of taking any of my puppy or senior dog anywhere else.

But David recently changed careers (he's a dashing finance man now) but he wholeheartedly recommended Grandma Dee, who actually walks his dogs for him now that he's switched careers. A former scrappy street dog, Penny is pretty leery of who she allows in her inner circle. But Grandma Dee came over for an initial consultation (free!) and Penny was smitten with her immediately. Chun P. and I were gone for two weeks and we were so glad that we didn't have to worry about Penny at all! Grandma Dee came by every day (even dealing with my somewhat difficult Grandmother!) and walked Miss Penny. Miss Penny is frightened of strangers, loud noises, skateboarders, fire trucks, fedex trucks, UPS trucks, mail carriers, old ladies with shopping bags, men with beards, old men with shopping bags, other dogs, children, cats, cyclists, and loves to eat slow lizards and knock over trashcans just to see what tasty morsels are inside during walks. And this is AFTER we've had Penny enrolled in months of 1x1 training classes! (And it's a huge improvement!) Walking her is no easy task! Grandma Dee was able to walk Miss Penny despite all Miss Penny's peccadilloes! We are very grateful we could trust her with our pup and will definitely be requesting her service again.

I highly recommend Grandma Dee's.

During our first experience in May 2024 (boarding), our dog, Chika, was labeled anxious and given a "first strike" for snapping at other dogs. We had never received this sort of feedback before and were concerned. She was placed in private care for the remainder of that stay, and no further issues occurred. Between May 2024 and December 2025, Chika attended numerous daycare facilities in social play without incident. We gave the Escondido location another opportunity on December 20, 2025. Within three hours, we received a voicemail from Daniel (manager) stating that Chika was digging at and jumping on the walls and that the Escondido facility's walls are not as sturdy as those at the Miramar location. We were also told that she would NOT be welcome back at Escondido after that day. We do not dispute Chika's behavior, but the problem was the lack of management. We are paying customers and expect staff to actively handle the situation, not simply report it and escalate to removal or ban. There was no indication that reasonable steps were taken (removal from the area, breaks, walks, or calming measures) before contacting us. Notifying the customer is appropriate and appreciated; failing to attempt resolution is not. Chika was eventually placed in a cage for the remainder of the day, which was acceptable. However, communication did not indicate that efforts were made to reduce her stress or ensure her comfort. We paid $60 per dog (two dogs; our other dog's behavior was deemed acceptable) and expected professional supervision and care. There are serious safety and operational concerns. The facility has thin, easily damaged walls, is understaffed (per the manager and owner), and staff are not consistently present in dog areas. Dogs are sometimes monitored via cameras rather than in-person supervision, according to Daniel (manager). This location also maintains a low number of dogs, which aligns with how quickly dogs are removed or banned instead of being managed. According to the daycare, Chika may react this way because calmer areas stress her and busier areas keep her mind occupied--interpret that as you will. Interactions with Daniel (manager) and Brian (owner) were unacceptable. Brian called us on December 21st, which we initially appreciated as a chance to discuss the situation. However, the conversation quickly became hostile and dismissive, with Brian stating they "could bill you for the damage, but aren't," telling me to "take some introspection," and calling me "rude" and "ridiculous for asking for a refund." He also said, "open your own daycare and manage it how you want." All phone calls with management are recorded, so there is a record of these interactions. No accommodation was offered. Had a partial refund been provided, this review would not exist! The only professional interaction was with Whitney at the front desk. We love the Miramar location, and it's disappointing that our experience at Escondido came to this. Owners of large or anxious dogs should proceed with caution. This location does not actively manage stressed dogs or work toward resolution.
