Decided to go with the board and train to ensure she was set for success while away on a trip. I can tell you this place is legit, has the skills, and genuinely cares about their guests. First class service and great communication before/during/after. My puppy came in with minimal training and left a star. Sit, down, stay, leave it, more respect with the cats and my resident dog at home, and way more confidence. They have a family dog, there's kids and other family around, chickens, cats, and more to be exposed to + cuddles galore. I'm very happy with my choice. We'll be back for daycare weekly.

From the phone to drop-off they were excellent at staying in contact and making sure everything we needed was addressed. They kept that same level of communication and dedication during our furry friend's stay, which definitely made me comfortable and secure in leaving my dog there. When we picked up our dog, we were walked through everything that was worked on and were blown away. The progress was undeniable. But David recently changed careers (he's a dashing finance man now) but he wholeheartedly recommended Grandma Dee, who actually walks his dogs for him now that he's switched careers. A former scrappy street dog, Penny is pretty leery of who she allows in her inner circle. But Grandma Dee came over for an initial consultation (free!) and Penny was smitten with her immediately. Chun P. and I were gone for two weeks and we were so glad that we didn't have to worry about Penny at all! Grandma Dee came by every day (even dealing with my somewhat difficult Grandmother!) and walked Miss Penny. Miss Penny is frightened of strangers, loud noises, skateboarders, fire trucks, fedex trucks, UPS trucks, mail carriers, old ladies with shopping bags, men with beards, old men with shopping bags, other dogs, children, cats, cyclists, and loves to eat slow lizards and knock over trashcans just to see what tasty morsels are inside during walks. And this is AFTER we've had Penny enrolled in months of 1x1 training classes! (And it's a huge improvement!) Walking her is no easy task! Grandma Dee was able to walk Miss Penny despite all Miss Penny's peccadilloes! We are very grateful we could trust her with our pup and will definitely be requesting her service again.

This was my first time boarding my dog, Leah, at Country Kennels and I was VERY happy (so was my…read moredog which was more important!) I was going out of town for a week and was nervous about leaving my 12 year old dog at the (well known) Kennel I'd used before. She has Cushings Disease and I was concerned about her getting too stressed out at the other facility. When I used to pick her up (from the other kennel) she was always hoarse from barking so much and I didn't like the fact that they had to eat, sleep, poop and pee in the same little kennel "cell". I found Country Kennels online and decided to drive out there unannounced to check it out (and I brought Leah with me). They were extremely friendly and offered to watch Leah up front while I got a tour of the facility. The FIRST thing I noticed was that each Kennel had it's own dog run! So my dog could sleep in her bed indoors, but go thru the doggy door and go outside and do her business whenever she wanted. LOVED that! She was there for almost 7 days and I paid extra to have her bathed right before pick up. Needless to say, she was NOT hoarse from barking (a good sign!) and they did a great job with her bath! One last thing, she was diagnosed with an ear infection at the Vet, the DAY before I was supposed to leave! So stressful. But when I explained that she would need ear drops and ear cleaning each day, they were totally fine with that and sure enough when I picked her up, her ear infection was completely gone (verified by the Vet) so I know they took her treatment seriously. I have since recommended this Kennel to all my friends :)

I recently had a very disappointing experience with 24 Hour Dog Daycare in Escondido, and…read moreunfortunately, I will not be bringing my dog back. I had a last-minute trip come up and needed somewhere for my dog, Cosmo, to stay overnight since I wouldn't be home until around 2-3 AM. I didn't care about the price. I just wanted somewhere safe and comfortable for him. When I initially called, I unknowingly reached the San Diego location. The staff there were incredibly friendly, helpful, and eager to accommodate us, which made me feel good about choosing this business. Unfortunately, my experience at the Escondido location was completely different. When I arrived, the woman at the front desk was rude and immediately pointed out that I had booked the wrong location. I apologized and explained that I hadn't realized there were multiple locations, especially since I had called the number listed for Escondido. I also mentioned that I was in a rush, but she seemed to take her time with everything. She appeared exhausted and had difficulty putting her sentences together. I explained that Cosmo is an anxious dog and that I specifically wanted him in a private suite rather than participating in group play. Instead of respecting that request, she repeatedly tried to convince me to put him in social play, asking how he does with other dogs and whether he had received training around them. I explained that he doesn't do particularly well with unfamiliar dogs and that I wanted him to stay alone. She mentioned that a private suite would cost extra, and I made it clear that the additional cost was not an issue. My priority was making sure he felt safe. Cosmo has stayed at PetSmart's boarding and daycare facilities multiple times, and while the staff there have mentioned that he can be shy and anxious, they have always been understanding and accommodating. If he was hesitant to walk through the door, they would sometimes allow me to walk ahead so he could follow me. At this facility, when Cosmo became hesitant, the employee told me to leave because it would be better. Instead, he started panicking and pulling on his leash, which was unusual for him. I will say that I appreciated receiving a report card and photos throughout his stay. That was one positive part of the experience and helped reassure me since he was in an unfamiliar environment. Around 11-11:30 PM, I called to check on Cosmo. A man answered, and the moment I mentioned Cosmo's name, his tone seemed to change. He told me Cosmo was very anxious and needed time to get comfortable with the staff. I understood that completely. He was in a new environment with unfamiliar people, which was exactly why I had requested a private suite in the first place. When I picked Cosmo up the following day, I spoke with a man at the front desk, although I'm not sure whether it was the same employee from the night before. Again, the moment I mentioned Cosmo, his tone changed. He told me that Cosmo had pooped himself twice when meeting new people and repeatedly emphasized how anxious he was and how much of a handful he had been. I felt terrible hearing that my dog had been so frightened. I apologized and explained that I would normally take him to PetSmart, where he is familiar with the environment, but this had been an emergency situation. His response was, "I hope it wasn't that important." I was honestly shocked. I had just explained that I needed emergency boarding, and instead of showing even a little understanding, he made an unnecessarily rude and judgmental comment. He had no idea what my circumstances were or why I needed someone to care for my dog. I understand that anxious dogs can require extra patience and attention. That's exactly why I was upfront about Cosmo's anxiety from the beginning, requested a private suite, and was willing to pay whatever was necessary to accommodate his needs. I never expected the staff to magically make his anxiety disappear, but I did expect professionalism, patience, and some basic compassion. What bothered me most wasn't that Cosmo was anxious during his stay. I expected that. It was the way the employees spoke about him and made me feel as though he was a burden simply for being scared. I appreciate the photos and updates, but they do not make up for the way we were treated. I've never been made to feel this uncomfortable or judged by a boarding facility before. I would not recommend the Escondido location to anyone with a shy or anxious dog, and I will not be bringing Cosmo back.
