What a JOKE! My sister was training to be a bather here, she loves animals but doesn't have experience. The OWNER Danielle communicated with and trained my sister. Danielle was the definition of unprofessional and impatient with a sprinkle of hostility. Not only did she consistently question my sister's competency VERBALLY to her face but would aggressively explain things when she didn't understand something. Made my sister feel uncomfortable, anxious, degraded and incapable. Teaching others should leave them with confidence and a sense of accomplishment for themselves. Danielle excelled in giving the very opposite. Not to mention the place heavily smelled of cigarettes. EW!! If she treats humans like that IMAGINE how she'll treat your pets. I have been going to this groomer (and unknowingly my parents used her mom) for years. We have taken all of our animals there whether they were our precious Pomeranians house children) to working K-9 to my ADA/ADI service dog. The owner treats every animal with the utmost respect and accommodates any disability that the animal has. The owner goes out of her way to ensure every animal is groomed according to breed specs or owner specs. She has exacting standards and expects those standards to be upheld by her employees. Over these 25 years, I am in there often and regularly. I have seen the good (beautiful work), the bad (an extremely matted dog) and the ugly (an animal or person bleeds). I have watched her train some of her employees and understand the frustration of having to repeat grooming instructions day in day out with the same employee. When I see a subpar review, I go in and watch. What I see is an employee made seemingly minor mistakes that could have caused harm to either the animal they were working on, a nearby animal or the person working on the animal. The employee is then upset, when they get corrected, because it was a seemingly minor mistake, which they were repeated trained on, when the reality is either they or the animal was going to the doctor/emergency room. Not everyone is cut out to be an exceptional animal groomer and that is why if you don't want to be exceptional or expect exceptional go somewhere else. read more

I've been taking my dogs for a few years. The grooming was good , but my dogs were always first in and last out. It seems that if you don't tip your dogs get that treatment. I heard all the excuses about short staff, but my dogs were always last done and made to sit on a take floor all day. Now with covid-19, they didn't even bother to call back, but I see the other regulars are back. Good thing, there are others just as good for less. I didn't set the price, they did.. so why did my dogs get treated like crap? read more

Danielle has been working on my dogs since I moved to North County in 2004. I had a wire haired fox terrier and a bedlington terrier. They never hesitated walking through her door, tails wagging. Both always looked great, but the bedlington had a very specific hair cut and he was flawless. They have both crossed the rainbow bridge and I have a new set. One is a miniature poodle and a little terrier mix. Her specialty is poodles and it shows. TJ is quite the dapper guy. The terrier is recently special needs and she has been so gentle and patient with him. I am very thankful to have her. read more

Took my senior kitty in today for a toenail trim because she's a demon if I try to do it myself. I called ahead and they told me a good time to come in. We showed up and got seen by the groomer quickly who was able to trim the nails with no fuss. I appreciate the quick in and out and that the salon is such an open environment. Quick, easy, low stress and my cat isn't even upset with me now that we're home. She never forgives me this quickly! My Boston terrier just loves this place! We have been coming here for the past 7 years. Every time we go we are greeted with friendliest staff. I have been so impressed with the warmth and kindness they all show to Reo. If I even mention the word beauty shop to my little guy he will starts smiling, jumping around, and running for the door excited. I have been taking my mini dachshund to 1st Class for over three years now since she was just a little newbie. What I like the most is the attentiveness and love they show to my little pup. I see some of the comments about being snippy and all and yes sometimes that happens but the overall picture, what really is the most important, is how they care for my dog. I won't go anywhere else. I like having our vet Mohnacky right next door. I can take little pup to see the vet and then drop her off at 1st Class Pet Salon for her mani and pedi appt! :-) Again, I love the way they treat my litte dog. They really care about her. I can't tell you how wonderful and knowledgeable both Danielle & Debbie are! I was able to secure an appointment for my 3 girls within a week. All the staff is super friendly. My girls (2 poodles & a cockapoo) seemed to instantly take to Danielle upon their first visit. We live in Vista and it is well worth the drive to take them to Danielle and Debbie. I am looking for a new groomer and called today to get a quote. The woman who answered was not very friendly and was annoyed because I didn't know the difference between types of cuts. I got very snipping questions back twice, and then she finally warmed up. But really? Why would I make an appointment when I get attitude the first 5 seconds on the phone. Not a good way to bring in new customers. I specifically said I was looking for a new groomer because I was not happy with the most recent one we went to. I have been taking my dog to Danielle for about 12 years. I don't know what that other review is about, but here is the scoop. Danielle (owner) is more than accommodating. I followed her from her first salon in Carlsbad to her current location in Escondido. Without exception, I call her and ask her if she has time to groom Kimi, and 99% of the time she does. Because I am traveling from Carlsbad, she knows I hang around Escondido until she is done. She is considerate of my time and takes care of Kimi for me, usually within a couple of hours. Danielle is the only groomer I will let near Kimi because as with most dogs, she doesn't like to be groomed. She is experienced, professional, and courteous. Danielle's salon is busy.....most good groomers are. Give her a chance, you won't regret it! read more

I have taken my first dog and my second dog to Danielle for minor grooming, i.e. nails and minor hair trimming. Both of my dogs were and are Chihuahua's and very tempermental. My wife and I attempted to trim their nails and the dogs would have no part of it. I take them to Danielle and they sit still and let her do her job. Danielle handles my dog with confidence and does excellent work. This is the only place I will take my dog for grooming. read more

My Old English Sheepdog is a handsome boy when he leaves 1st Klass Pet Salon despite the extra work needed to keep him tangle free. They complete his grooming in a timely manner and always communicate any problems they see. This is the only place to go for grooming! read more

I am one of the owners of 1st Klass Pet Salon. I would like to thank the people who have posted reviews. I would like to specifically address 2 reviews. For the people with the humane society per, I am sorry for the misunderstanding. The coupon you received covers a free bath and lite tidy up. It does not cover a full haircut. When we said we would honor the coupon it was for the bath. When you came in you stated that you wanted a full haircut. Unfortunately I was so booked with haircuts that we were unable to do that service for you, and equally unfortunate was that it would have been another 4 + weeks before we had an opening for an actual haircut, at which time it was too long for us to honor the coupon for the bath. For the potential client seeking information over the phone, I apologize. Sometimes it is hard to hear over the phone with the dryers, etc. in the background. We try to get as much information over the phone so we can give you a more accurate price quote, and also to book appointments more accurately. There isn't anything that bothers me much more, personally, than to be given a quote over the phone and then to be charged a lot more when I am actually there. I hope you would feel free to stop by and see us in person to see the shop and the quality that we provide, and also how truly caring, compassionate, and friendly we really are. This place is the only place that will cut my dog's hair the way I ask them to. They are great. Always friendly and always a good job for a good price. If you want an appointment though, call ahead. Some times I get in quickly (within a few weeks) but if it's around the holidays it is (unsurprisingly and expectedly) booked out a month. I called and asked for an appointment and was pleased to get in the same day. When I got there I found the shop to be clean and well organized. Not all groomers seem to be concerned with a clean environment to work in. The lady who checked "Brady" in was polite well spoken and was friendly. She told me that it would be about an hour before he would be done and confirmed a contact number. After 45 minutes I got a call from her double checking how we wanted Brady's face trimmed and to let me know that he would be done on time. Brady also had his teeth cleaned and his claws trimmed and filed. When I got there I was very pleased with the way he looked. I have never seen him look better. The price she charged was the same as we normally pay for just a cut without the extras. Oh BTW she also took a picture of him and emailed it to us. We will be going back because we got great service and Brady got the best cut he ever has. It was a very good experience! read more

Received a certificate for a free groom from 1st class pet salon when we purchased our dog from the Humane Society. The certificate was to be used 30-60 from the purchase of the dog. We didn't find the certificate until 10 days after the expiration and when I called I asked if it would still be honored. They said yes but they didn't have any appointments open for another 2 weeks. We made the appointment. They said they would need the dog for 4 hours. So we drove 30 minutes to the salon only to be then told they would not honor the certificate. Since we now had the dog in the car, we were not able to complete the other errands we had planned for the day. I totally get that it was beyond the 60 days but #1 they should never have told me it would be accepted and #2 If this was a service they provided to say "thanks for adopting a shelter pet" they should have honored it anyway. VERY POOR business practice. Now, instead of gaining a new customer (which is usually the incentive behind a freebie) they will definitely never see our business and I hope others think twice about giving them their's. read more

9/25/2014, It took over one month to get an appointment at 1st Class Pet Salon. I bought my pet to this appointment on time in the morning. I called six (6) hours later and my dog wasn't finished. They told me my they were running behind and my pet should be done in (45) minutes. I knew something was wrong at this point. I waited another (45) minutes and called again. They told me my dog STILL hasn't been groomed yet. The lady said my dog should be done in (45) minutes. I told her, I coming to get my dog. I will be there in (10) minutes. Sure enough, seven (7) hours later my dog had not been groomed. Do you think it's unreasonable for a groomer to groom a dog in (7) hours or less? I was very upset and removed my precious dog from this business. The owner had lot's of excuses why she couldn't groom dogs hair within (7) hours. My dog is a little 20 pound schnauzer, friendly and very sweet. I do not recommend this business to anyone. The fact that it takes almost a month to get an appointment is your first clue. I'm very disappointed with this business and do not recommend it to anyone. read more
