Recently relocated from the Bay Area and in the market for a boutique style dog groomer (I am not a fan of chain type business). The Dog - I have a cute spoiled Shih Tzu who maintains a certain look that I prefer. Off top the grooming photos provided on yelp were impressive! Right away I knew this is the place I have been searching for. I reached out Masako and explained my dog is slightly temperamental who requires a face and tail trim only. While reading the fine print she mentions that she will not tolerate dogs who misbehave or bite, I was a little hesitant at first. To give you some insight I groom my fur baby entire body due to past traumas. He does not like his paws touched, he is also sensitive to outside noise, including the sound of clippers, blow dryers and washing machines while being groomed. After a semi brief conversation Masako agreed to the appointment. Also, I would like to mention that the correspondence between us was top tier via voice & text. I am not sure if Masako does this for clients but she provided an in-house cutting tutorial which was greatly appreciated. She was patient while explaining in great detail her grooming procedure. At first my dog was a little resistant considering this was his first time with a new groomer but eventually settled down and Masako did her magic. Overall I had a wonderful experience! Masako went above and beyond while accommodating my dog needs. I would like to mention that she is a highly skilled groomer, while her scissor work is impeccable. Thank you so much for taking care of my fur baby, I will be back! I highly recommend Blue Dogs Grooming! read more

Blue Dogs Grooming - Look how happy he is - Pet Groomers Near Me - Escondido, California

Masako gave me such great vibes when I was greeted by her and her 3 sweet dogs. She explains everything clearly and the pricing for the service. My dog was done in about 3.5 hours which after picking her up, I could see why. Masako is very meticulous and the paid such great detail to my dog. This pricing honestly threw me off but for the quality and the positive energy I got from Masako, I think it was money well paid. I will definitely be back! read more

Looking for a good groomer is sometimes quite the task. Our 12 yr old Finn is such a gentle souls but as a rescue due to past trauma he tends to get very nervous around new people, especially anyone who is touching him. We were so Lucky to find this place, for our 1st visit she told us all would b okay and even allowed my husband to stand by Finn while he got groomed. He's gone back a couple of times and each time we pick-him up and he's just adorable and so very happy. He loves getting groomed. Price is not an option when it comes to our Finn. The other thing we love and appreciate is the groomer texting us updates and pictures of our boy. read more

Dogs who come to this salon for a haircut are not allowed to poop. If your pet can't stop pooping during a haircut. The owner of this salon will send you pictures of pets pooping while you eat lunch. The shopkeeper will refuse to serve.Be sure to ask the price of a haircut at this salon in advance. Because the shopkeeper will not take the initiative to tell you that they have increased their prices. Such behavior is a form of deception. I don't care about the five dollars, what I care about is why you didn't tell the customer at the beginning that you had increased the price. read more

Long overdue review for Blue Dogs Groomer and her amazing services! The old place that I used to take my Pomeranian Alizé for her hair cut was weirdly closed for the day without any prior warning, which was a bit annoying, but it all turned out for the best because now I've found a place to take my 3 little dogs Alizé, Bacardi and Kahlua at the Blue Dogs Groomer! They're super kind and accommodating, and I have never seen anyone cut my dogs' hair so nice! The only problem we had was when Alizé came back home she started acting weird and vomiting and having a hard time swallowing her food. We decided to take her to the vet and get her checked up. The vet said that its her trachea causing her to vomit. Many things that can trigger trachea collapse and one of them is applying pressure to their neck. The owner of the groomer was so nice and offered to pay for the vet's fees. Overall the service was excellent! read more

Blue Dogs Grooming - Fun day at the groomer. - Pet Groomers Near Me - Escondido, California

DO NOT COME HERE. She has terrible manners and shady business practices. I have text messages confirming I was bringing two dogs into her store and she confirmed. Then when I got there she said it would be much more expensive than $75. I said fine but how much would it be? The owner then said very very expensive. She would not give a price and would not even give an estimate. I told her my dog was 19 pounds over text. She said it was fine. When I get there she said she didn't know. She is a terrible business person. She basically wasted our time and it was imperative to get the dogs cut before their surgery next week. Do not waste your time. I would have paid how ever much but to not give an estimate? To basically claim she couldn't even give the dogs a hair cut bc she didn't know how much they weighed when she confirmed it? My god people work and I took time out of my busy day to bring the dogs over. read more

Absolutely love how she leaves my dogs hair, she is always so welcoming and happy when we walk into the shop. I've recommended this shop to a couple of my friends and hopefully they end up liking it as my as me. She always gives my baby a little bow tie and leave him smelling amazing. I really recommend this shop to anyone looking for a new groomer! I've been to other places and they don't do it like how she does! read more

I found this small business/Escondido gem via Yelp (thanks fellow reviewers!). I'm so glad I listened to all the great reviews, as my experience was stellar. My little shihtzus are getting a bit shaggy, so I decided to call Masako. I asked about pricing and availability. I lucked out, as it was a slower day and made an appt for my little shihtzu that same afternoon. I brought my little fur baby to Blue Dogs Grooming, and introduced him to Masako. He liked her immediately. She had me fill out some paperwork and asked me specifics (e.g., style of cut, how short I wanted his hair, specific things to pay attention to). I was told it would take 3-4 hours and I would receive a text with a photo with his new hair cut. At that point, I would have the option to advise on any changes or specific areas requiring more trimming. I received a text exactly at the 3 hour mark. I was over the moon at how extra adorable my little guy looked (see photo to partake in his cuteness). 14/10 I would take him back and will recommend to my friends/fam. A few tips: -Parking: street parking available directly in front of the store -Location: near Pegah's Kitchen -The Bath service includes shampoo, conditioner, hand blown dry, nail trimming, ear cleaning, anal expression. -Teeth brushing is an extra fee read more

Super confused at the high ratings. We took our dogs in after being quoted $95 for a full groom. Full groom includes bath, haircut, anal gland expression. $5 extra for teeth brushing and $2 extra for a breath mint. We were also told that there may be an extra fee for disposition, which is understandable. There is also a $2/min fee for tangles. Also didn't seem like a problem. We brought our dogs in and if she couldn't flow the brush straight through, that was considered a tangle. I groom my pups weekly. When I hear tangle, I think matt. She meant if she couldn't brush it straight through with a matt comb, that will be $2/hr. We asked for an estimate since she only accepts cash, check or Venmo. She couldn't give us an estimate. It was a waste of time to bring them in. read more

I have been taking my Pomeranian to Masako for nearly three years now, and never had an issue until recently. I used to pay $65-85 (before tip) for my small dog's haircut/bath. However, when I brought my dog in for a recent "consultation," I was quoted $265 ($85 for the groom, and then "an hour and a half of dematting at $2 per minute"). In other words, we were no longer welcome at Blue Dogs Grooming because Masako decided she needed an extra $200 per visit to continue grooming our dog the same way she has been doing it for years. I'm extremely disappointed in Masako and her recent questionable business practices. It appears others who have reviewed this business recently have had similar negative experiences. For those looking for a more ethical groomer in town, check out "Sandy Pawz" or "Raining Cats & Dogs." read more

Had an appt and was confirmed. She refused to take my dads puppy a labradoodle weighing 15 pounds and my sisters sheepadoodle weighing 19 pounds. She made every excuse not to cut our dogs hair wasting our time. First she insinuated our dogs were too big when there were dog in her shop that clearly were too big. Then she told us our dogs would be expensive when we told her we didn't mind paying more money, she said she was going to be well more than $100 and would charge us $2 a min because of she needed a scissor cut. She clearly wasted our time and didn't want to do it which she should've said she would! read more

I've been taking my small breed dogs (boba and mini) here for the last few years. Price is fair and the work is excellent. I usually get the bath package which includes nail trimming. These people are experts on their profession. Not only do they clip the nails, they also file the nail down. Many other place that I've tried in the past doesn't file the nail therefore the dogs nail is still sharp and it's painful went your dog scratches you. They trim the hair around the butt very well so that when your dog does a number one, there are less chance it will stick to your dog fur. This place does all the little things that has a positive impact on your dog. I highly recommend this place. read more

We recently moved to Escondido and got a Yorkshire Terrier Puppy. He was looking pretty bad and some of his puppy hair was matting despite our best efforts to comb and blow dry him. Our breeder probably never send him in for a grooming. It was very easy to make an appointment. Masako is the owner and dog groomer. She gives your dog individual attention. Our dog looked wonderful after his appointment. We were extremely happy! Masako give your text message reminders about your appointment. She has been working with Lindsay at Spawtlight Dog in downtown San Diego. Before our last Yorkie passed away and when we lived in Downtown SD, we sent our Yorkie to Spawtlight for grooming. We thought we were going to have a difficult time finding a groomer in Escondido. But Blue Dog will be the place we bring our Yorkie. Blue Dog's prices are reasonable. The quality of work is amazing. Our Yorkie looks absolutely great. Masako recommended that we do daily brushings with spray conditioner to avoid matting until the puppy hair is grown out. Quality grooming at reasonable prices. Dont go to the mass production lines at the major chain store. Your fur baby deserves a grooming at Blue Dogs. read more

We took our Maltipoo and our American Staffordshire Terrier to Blue Dogs and I'm so happy that we did. The cost was inexpensive and the service was well done. They asked questions about our dogs to get to know more about them which made it a personable experience. Our dogs looked great afterward. Not only that, we could tell that our dogs were treated well because they came home very happy and relaxed. I also received pictures of them. Our Maltipoo received a poodle cut that was perfect and Staffordshire's nails were clipped properly. We will definitely use their service again! ASheka and Chris read more

I called Blue Dogs Grooming on their day off and left a voicemail, thinking that I wouldn't get a response until the next day. I was surprised when ten minutes later I received a phone call from Masako and was able to schedule our dog, Daisy, for grooming two days later! This shop is bumpin with dogs. There were two kind women working the shop, one was bathing and the other was grooming. There were three dogs on those podium things (clinical terminology) and one scurrying around, and then my dog added to the mix. Masako had me fill out a form and asked a few questions about Daisy and my grooming preferences, and I was able to text her a couple days earlier with a few pics of how she is typically groomed. Daisy usually gets a little squirmy when it comes to grooming but I think the companionship of other dogs around the shop put her at ease. My husband said that when he picked her up, there were more dogs roaming the floor, which we both kind of liked. Almost like a doggie daycare kind of feel. Daisy smells so good and is so soft now! Even my husband said she's softer than she's ever been. And her precious little furry face and little pink and gold bows that make her ears look like pigtails, I can't. I can't even. Price was reasonable, I think we picked her up 3.5 hours after drop off which has been pretty typical of other places we've brought Daisy for grooming. Masako and her staff know what they are doing, and they do a good job. We are happy with our little prissy white dog and will be back in the future! read more

This groomer is wonderful. I brought my puppy (Stewart) for his first visit. The groomer took care to explain that she wanted to get Stewart used to being groomed and let me know she would not be forcing any unwelcome grooming techniques until he is comfortable with her. For example, he really disliked the clippers, so she chose to scissor cut his fur only. She sent me videos to illustrate her point. I really appreciate the time and care she took with him, not to mention, she gave him an excellent cut. I wouldn't take my pup anywhere else. read more
