The Canadian Superstore seems to be a knock-off from your Walmart Superstore, except that the products offered don't come close to the offerings of Walmart. This store group items together, projecting savings by purchasing more of the same product. The issue is what advantages are there to buying 10 toothpaste now? I did see some savings with Mars products compared to Walmart. Savings was about 1 dollar today.

I was once accused of being an undercover cop here (I'm not) by a strange customer who made a big scene and demanded to see the manager. He was irate and left before mall security arrived. Anyways... the prices are generally very competitive here. Quality is hit and miss. Their "blue menu" items are actually quite good. Fruits and vegetables seem physically bigger but less flavourful than other places. The prices are lower per pound but you end up with a sweet potato that's the size of a football. Customers regularly eat from the bulk foods section, even though there are signs saying "no samples". Lines and crowds can be ridiculous at this location. During holiday times they put up signs for "all checkout lanes open, all day"... and they are... and it's still busy. I'm not a fan of their price labelling. Often you see a price highlighted, but underneath it says "when you buy groups of 2, otherwise $5" for example. Just make sure to read it closely. You can also find the price per 100 grams on many items price tags - this is super useful in comparing different sized items, or the PC brand to another name brand. They started doing free food sample tables, like Costco, but not as many or as often. They also started having predatory credit card salespeople wander the store, trying to get you to sign up for a PC points credit card. Go away, I'm shopping.

What to do on an afternoon while in Vancouver? Go shopping, of course! My buddy and I came to this store after going to a massage parlour, and we were looking to buy stuff to take back to LA. I just bought some miscellaneous toiletry items that I needed (shaving supplies), and my buddy bought some items not for sale in the US. This huge store is located within the largest mall in British Columbia. I forget the name of the actual mall, but any taxi driver will be able to take you here. It is quite a drive from the downtown area, headed westward. The area is not bad at all, and I didn't really see any sketchy people here. If huge crowds aren't your thing, you may want to opt for another location. If you're like me and wanting to explore all aspects of life in Vancouver, come shop here.

That aisle, I think keeps going.

Anyone who plans to go to the Metrotown Superstore, be prepared for all out war. A combination of the busiest mall in the GVR, and also the busiest supermarket is going to bring one thing = crowds. If you are one who hates crowds and craziness, be warned, dodge this place like the plague. If you are the above, you probably will not come to Metrotown anyways. If you have been to any of the Real Canadian Superstore's, you know they practically try to cover everything from food, prescription drugs, clothes, electronics, etc., there is just too many categories to name. By knowing this, also know in price they are very competitive. When they first opened, these stores looked great inside, the product was setup nicely, there was an abundance of selection, then it was just overrun with people, and things started getting messy. Well, seems like Loblaws (parent company) is taking notice, as coming in here after so long, it is looking more orderly and better. Still not as good as their other stores, but they do not have to deal with the same amount of traffic that this places goes through in a day.

I really like their points program, so I tend to go to their stores over the others unless I'm looking for something specific.

Huge Asian grocery store chain. Definitely a must-go to do most Asian grocery shopping. The store…read moreis huge and has pretty much everything someone needs. There are also beauty products here. Depending on the time of day and if there are any holidays, the store can be quite loud and crowded. Sometimes it's also hard to get parking spots. When on sale, the veggies are quite cheap and sometimes there are discounts on the meat too. Chicken drumsticks sometimes only cost about 98 cents per lb which is great. Compared to smaller stores, the snacks here are very cheap and the selection is huge. Recently the cooked food section turned from 2 or 3 items and rice and soup to charging by weight, which made it quite a lot more expensive. I used to choose the 2-item one alot before as it was only around $12 for a full meal, but now half the plate is around the same price. I personally like the bubble tea section fhe most as it's really cheap at around $5-6 for a drink. It's not the greatest tasting thing ever but great value for the price. Previously the cashiers all seemed to speak Chinese only (Mandarin or Cantonese), but I noticed that recently there's more people that speak English. People who shop here are mostly Asian though. They have a membership program where people can earn points, and then redeem them for rewards later. The rewards are pretty good, from snacks to tote bags to kitchen appliances.

From aisle staff to hot foods counter to checkout everyone works hard but stops to help customers when they ask for assistance. I've witness this by pretending I don't speak Chinese and asked about discount on a dish where the tag was missed as needed to be sold end of day, the lady quickly grabs the nearest coworker that spoke English to help understand my question. She could have just said sorry no English. Which is very typical of Asians when they don't feel comfortable interacting in their second language. Koodo for the effort

I've…read morealways been curious about Blackball so it's great that we can try some of their stuff from Market Ribbon without having to go all the way to the actual Blackball shop. Last time I bought some kind of Mango drink with Agar jelly for my daughter. She liked it while I was just OK with it. This time I bought a Passionfruit Lemon Green Tea with Coconut Jelly for my daughter, and a Wintermelon Tea with Grass jelly and Aiyu jelly drink for my husband. My daughter and I both loved the Passionfruit drink. I wouldn't mind buying that one again sometime. Hubby seemed to like the Wintermelon drink a lot. I liked it better than I had like the Mango drink with Agar jelly but still wasn't crazy about it. I really really liked the Passionfruit drink though, so I might buy that one for myself sometime since I only took a couple of sips from that drink and left the rest for my daughter. These drinks would cost a good deal more at the actual Blackball store so getting them premade at Market Ribbon for just $4.99 each is a pretty good deal. If you're not too picky, this is a great place to satisfy a bubble tea craving without breaking the bank!

The inside is definitely bare bones and on the smaller side. However, it was full of customers. They're doing something right. They have Korean snacks and produce. Special mention to their dedicated kimchi and ready to eat food section, which have items like tteokbokki (starch roles in sauce) and kimbap. Oh so tasty. Another thing worth mentioning - they have sashimi grade fish, and as of the time of writing, it is much cheaper than T&T. My only real complaint is that the checkout area is set up rather poorly. I just saw a pile of people by the counters and assumed I was in the lineup. Turns out the lineup actually goes down the aisle that is closest to the wall. Pro tip. This place is definitely on my radar now. Will be back more often to empty my wallet. Recommended.

Was around the neighbourhood and my significant other needed some supplies, that to make some…read morehome-made broth for her pho. We already passed up a few other locations and I remembered this place, I haven't been here in years, so I didn't know what to expect. Most people who live in the Lower Mainland might not come to this place, as it literally is in the (as my friend use to say) "armpit" of Canada. From the amount of beggers, crack whores, drug dealers, drug takers, let's just say this is not the rainbow and unicorns neighbourhood of town. I found parking a block up, and once we exited the car, a person asked us if we had any change.... yes... this is a stones throw away from Hastings and Main! We entered, and the guy working here was unloading, and putting things away, as well as setting up the front display of food items, and my dear went off in her world to look for items. This place is spacious, no overloading of shelves, no narrow aisles, no short store, this place is pretty wide, and pretty long. We started on the left side, walking down their open refrigerated section, you see very clean, and packaged vegetables. Anything from Thai chili's, Thai basil, mini limes, coriander, green onions, bean sprouts, just to name a few, everything had their own packaging where you could see what your buying, and everything was, as I said, clean! Through the aisles we noticed stuff like shrimp paste, sections of Sriracha sauce, fish sauce, cane sugar, brown sugar, cans of bamboo, powdered soup broth for your favorite pho dishes, laksa sauces, a variety of different rice noodles, even labelled by the width of the noodle. This place is a specialty store, and one I wouldn't hesitate on sending anyone too, sure you have to actually get out of your car, or go down there with public transit, and open your eyes to a different part of society. Sometimes part of the journey of making your dish at home, is the journey less spoken, that of where the hell you got your ingredients. The words, "you can't believe where I went to get this stuff" may come out of your mouth the next time you actually decide to prepare a Thai, Viet, Cambodian, Malaysian, Indonesian, etc..., dish... but if your working through some cookbook that is telling you things you need for a particular dish that you have no clue where to get cause your normal supermarket wouldn't have a clue what it is.... you maybe surprised here by finding it. The one thing we were looking for.. which they didn't have was freshly package pho noodles..... as all of the noodles we saw were dry, can't win them all!

Being Thai- speaks for itself now. I should know where to shop right? Right?…read more This is the only bona fide place to get That ingredients if you want that authentic green curry with real Thai eggplant (so round and cute, definitely not long and skinny which will give you soggy eggplant) or the hard to find actual Kaffir limes (not just the leaves) for your tom yum soup. Pick up some "real" oyster sauce for your Pad Bai Graprow, and the grapow leaves too (Thai basil). There's so much more, from frozen desserts, great Jasmine rice, rice noodles, and on and on and on.. spices. BUT, caveat, its in a sketch neighbourhood on East Hastings, druggies, street merchants (which are not necessarily sketch), homeless folks (also not necessarily sketch). So you might feel a bit out of place if you plan on sliding up in your Range Rover or Mercedes. But that's just a feeling, nothing bad will happen. It's not the prettiest of places, it's a big warehouse kind of space, no cute labels and fun signs, just the facts and prices. Ladies who work there, super nice, super helpful. A lot of things are kept in the back so use your big girl voice and ask for things if you can't find it. Delivery day seems to be Friday, so the weekend is a good time to go in. Prices are so good, I don't know why anyone and I mean ANYONE would buy Thai ingredients in the Asian food aisle in the supermarket. Case and point, fish sauce should never, ever cost more than $2 for the largest size bottle. EVER. You're welcome. Happy Thai shopping, cooking and eating :)

Plus I am usually pleased with the freshness of their foods. I also enjoy their lunch box with bbq pork and soy sauce chicken, tho it tends to be saltier in taste and needs to be paired with hot tea or a drink. Overall, it's quite tasty when purchased at the start of lunch hour as the chef brings out all the freshly prepared whole chickens and satisfying. Their bbq lunch boxes seem bigger in portion size and more economical ($14.98) than Neptune plus with the ample parking options, it makes for a much quicker grab and go lunch option. (IMO, Neptune is better for dim sum or dine-in meals.) I usually prefer coming to this store over t&t for Asian groceries such as seaweed snacks or condiments or dry noodles etc. Because I find this location much less crowded with faster lineups and feels more comfortable with its natural lighting and spacious layout. This store meets my overall expectations in cleanliness, convenient parking, and cashier efficiencies but some may opt to shop elsewhere to look for lower prices. For me, their deli foods section, free parking, decent food selection, fresh quality and friendly service keeps me returning to this store.
