We were referred to Real Antique Wood by my sister. Having grown up in Irvington, blocks from their plant, we made a visit and met with Chris to decide on a piece of wood for our fireplace mantel. He provided so many options on what type of wood, color and finish. Once we decided, the process began. All through the process, Chris communicated with updates. After the mantel was completed, we arranged for installation. Anthony brought the mantel to our home and did the installation. He was extremely meticulous throughout the process, and mounted the mantel to our fireplace with precision. It was perfect! Could not have asked for a better experience! And when Anthony was finished, he made sure no traces of the installation remained. You will not be disappointed by their finished product. This is my first yelp review. I had to post and let everyone know how amazing this place is. I recently bought a house and wanted a custom mantel. Drove down to real antique wood and was pleasantly greeted by Mike. He was extremely helpful and knowledgeable. We purchased our mantel and were given time frame of 4 weeks. The mantel was done and delivered in 3-1/2 weeks. The mantel is exactly what my wife and I wanted! I tried to tip the employee and he wouldn't even accept. What an awesome hidden gem ! Beautiful reclaimed wood, doors, tables, and original vintage pieces inside this warehouse. The employees are so helpful especially Molly, and the owners (husband and wife)! They helped us pick a diy crate bottom for a coffee table as well which turned out beautifully. When furnishing our yoga studio we first worked with other antique and reclaimed wood companies who gave super low prices and told us everything under the sun to make the sale, but when it came down to coming through on customer service, that other company (not to be named) left us hanging with no options and turning a small project into something that would have been even more expensive then ever anticipated. Real Antique Wood helped us in this Jam with professionalism and quality work. The bottom line when looking to work with these materials is there's a lot of work involved to get the wood, store the wood, and in prepping or finishing the wood. This place is great!! They have a huge selection of antique barn wood, mantels, barn doors and they even have hardwares, pulleys and other antiques. The staff is friendly and there to help but left me alone while I went through wood on the second story loft for a woodworking project. They also build custom furniture from barn wood. Overall this place is great, the only drawback is the location which is In the ghetto of Irvington...don't let that discourage you though, the warehouse is situated close to the highway, just bring a gun and you'll be all set!! Update: As Lisa states below, the location is completely safe, private and less than a mile from the highway. Above comments were all in good fun!!
