I contacted this company to request a quote for a local move, and Caleb got back to me immediately. (Side Note: I initially contacted Timmy Hayes moving for a quote and they did not get back to me. Tried them one last time a few days later, and again, no response. DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME with Timmy Hayes Moving...they have no problem being rude and wasting your time. Customer satisfaction is clearly not their thing, just read their negative reviews). Back to Ready Set Movers...Caleb was great to work with. He was able to give me a quote the same day I contacted him and was able to get me on the schedule quickly. With the initial quote, I think he said there would be 3 guys. There ended up being 5 guys on moving day, which I loved because they were able to get this local move done so quickly! The entire crew was really nice and did a terrific job. They wrapped and moved all large pieces with careful consideration and there were no issues whatsoever. This was an easy move, but even under the best of circumstances, things can happen. I honestly did not notice any issues whatsoever. Everything arrived in excellent condition. Both homes have hardwood floors and they protected the flooring, which I appreciated. I think this might be the first move I have done where the movers didn't bang up the walls on the new house(which I also really appreciated because I just had the whole interior painted). I can't speak to how competitive their pricing is since I did not get multiple quotes, but I can say that that the final bill came in UNDER what I was quoted...who doesn't love that?! These guys are really what you HOPE your moving company will be: on time, professional, respectful(of me, my items, and my homes), quick, and efficient. Moving is never fun. But these guys made it as smooth and easy as it gets. Caleb came to assess our apartment promptly and we got the quote the next morning. We had a few questions (didn't know our new address location yet, some insurance questions). Any email sent, we got a prompt reply. We even moved up the moving date by 2 weeks -- no problem. They arrived as expected, packed and wrapped everything fast and carefully, delivered and unloaded as quickly/carefully as the first time. We were handed the final bill and good lord, it was under the original estimate. *Note that I'm not advocating this always happens, just that we estimated for worst-case scenario and they were super honest with their charges. What a great experience from start to finish. I contacted Caleb and he came the next day to give me an estimate. Checked in the week I was expected to move. A three man crew showed up on time and worked hard all day. They wrapped all the furniture carefully. Everything that was broken down was put back together. They asked where I wanted everything to go. When they were done I was asked if the furniture was where I wanted it and if not they would put it where I needed it. Stressful is the word for moving. This company made it less stressful. Hopefully I don't move again soon but if I did they would be my first call. read more

These guys were perfect and the move went better than expected. Not one item was scratched or damaged. Moved into a new house and both the exit residence and the new house were untouched! No wall scuffs, no wood scratches, nothing. They were quick and responsive and showed up exactly when they said they would. Everything was well wrapped and protected. Having two trucks was worth it so that items didn't need to be stacked for this particular move. Came in under expected budget as well. Started at 8:30 and by noon we were done. I'm really bummed to be giving these guys a negative review, when for the previous move I had with them, I gave them a well-deserved five stars. This time around we had a slightly different experience. The guys were still great, super friendly, helpful and on time. We had been given a two-man rate (the same number of movers for our last moves) and that had been confirmed. I was surprised to have 3 guys show up for the move, without any notice of extending an additional mover/cost (just would have been nice to have been asked in advance if they could bring a third mover, but no one ever notified me). Having said that, Caleb (one of the owners) also came to assist on part of the move and they didn't charge us for his extra help (though of course we tipped him), so that was appreciated. But overall, the cost of the move was higher than we expected from our previous experiences. My main issue is regarding damage that occurred to my couch end tables. When we unpacked, we found that that my heavy, metal drum end tables had been turned over on their tops and slid around in the moving truck when they had been packed. Needless to say, the tops of the tables were completely scratched and ruined. There was a bit of damage to some other items as well, but nothing like these tables. There was absolutely no reason for the movers to flip the tables on their tops and push them around in the truck (makes no sense why they weren't kept upright, they are very wide, heavy and stable). I emailed Caleb to give him the costs of the items and ask how the insurance worked, only to be informed that conveniently, insurance does not cover items they move when they do not use their own trucks (we were moving states, so of course we rented our own truck). This information was never provided to me in advance and in fact, when I went and read back through my signed contract (where I was specifically required to sign insurance clauses), I realized there is nothing that states that items aren't covered and everything in the contract indicates that I am, as expected, fully covered. If they do not cover moves that don't utilize their company trucks, it should be clearly stated in their advertisements and their contracts. Though why would anyone hire movers that wouldn't be held responsible for negligence and damage to their belongings? None of this makes sense. I emailed Caleb back to let him know what my contract said and have heard nothing in return (it's been two weeks at this point). I understand mistakes happen and things get damaged in moves, but to claim your movers are not responsible for damage due to negligence is just ridiculous, especially when the contract says otherwise. All I am asking for is some accountability and reimbursement for the damage. Still hoping to hear back from Caleb... read more

He didn't, so I emailed again and he gave me a rough ballpark estimate, which was 3 times what 2 men and a truck quoted me. read more

These guys are aces, all around. I called Caleb to get prices, after reading Jennifer B.'s review, and felt like everything would be handled in a very professional manner, throughout the entire move process. I was completely right. Clay, AJ, and another guy (who's name I can't recall) called me a half hour before they were scheduled to arrive, just to make sure they had the directions correct, got there about fifteen minutes early, and once we discussed the plan, they had me sign off on a contract that showed the agreed upon rate ($80/hour for three movers) and the time of arrival. Immediately, they started unpacking the truck, and even though I was of little help, as I had been awake for almost 36 straight hours, they were able to unpack the 26' truck, move everything into the apartment, and put some things back in the truck for moving to a storage facility. They were even able to rebuild the "wall" in the truck so that while I was driving it, things didn't move around. They then followed me to a Public Storage facility in West Ashley, and waited while I checked in and set up my account. Once I was ready to go, they followed me back into the facility, and we were able to unload the remainder of the items in about 45 minutes, into a 10' x 15' unit. They did a great job organizing it, as well, so that I've got access to the items in the back of the unit, if it's needed. I can't say enough about these guys, really. I feel like I'm gushing, but they were that good. When it's time for me to move into a house, next year, I'll definitely be calling them again to help with that! read more

Caleb and his team are great to work with. I was in the military for 20 years, and have had lots of people move me, NONE of them were as professional, or courteous as Ready Set Movers. My wife commented how polite that all were, no loud vulgar music, and each one of them went out of their way to introduce themselves. They asked where we wanted our stuff at, and even moved a few things a few times when we changed our mind. The rates were great, and Caleb even gives military discounts. After a number of "professional" long hall moves, we knew that the quality of the majors varied wildly but was generally poor. So when we looked for a mover to transport a bunch of valuable items (antiques, art, etc.) from South Carolina to California, we wanted a mover that we could trust to take the kind of care these precious family keepsakes deserved. After much searching we decided on Calab and team at RSM. They were by no means the cheapest bid but his professionalism was clear and he was willing to do the move personally. The move was flawless and really a pleasure. Not one item was damaged, they were punctual and completely professional in their interactions (no meatheads allowed on the team), charged exactly what they bid and no more, and were patient with our concerns. This was worth every penny. We really appreciate dealing with high functioning people with high integrity. This is the first time we have felt completely good about a the way a move went. They moved a 2200 sq ft house into our temporary rental in just 6 hours. Worst move for the money I have ever had! Don't know how these guys have a five star. The issues I experienced are the following: 1. They underestimated the job after doing a thorough walk through before providing their quote for a fairly typical three bedroom home. The day of the move they arrived with one medium size Uhaul type truck that no way could accommodate house contents. They had to bring a second truck and an additional $1500 for the move, putting the cost of the move more than $1000 over any other quote I received. 2. My furniture is broken and scared terribly. Dining furniture, which has been previously moved many times, has never gotten so badly scratched and dented by any other mover. They mentioned that they didn't have enough blankets. Their method of stacking the furniture in the truck damaged one leather chair, damaged the legs on many of the chairs. One item put in the storage room was completely broken. Since I am storing much of the furniture until my home being constructed is completed, I am unable to completely assess how bad the damage really is. 3. There are items I am unable to locate. 4. I have been unable to get a return phone call or return answer to my text messages following my move. Basically, these guys do not have any regard for their customers or the items they move. They may be an OK choice for moving dormitory items or small moves. They are not equipped to handle complete household moves. They do not provide a professional moving service. Please be careful with this company. I would never use their moving services again. read more
