These fellows were absolutely the best...and I've moved so many times that I know how things should be done, I'm an interior designer and very picky. On time, responsive and respectful.....so cautious with all our belongings and brought a sofa from the third floor down a difficult stairway in 5 minutes without any stress or hesitation.....other movers had struggled with same sofa before. It's so refreshing to find a business where the owners and their employees care about the customer and doing things right. I highly recommend them. Additionally, they were fun! They gave us a sense of peace and confidence in them as soon as they walked in the door.....thanks again Taylor and JJ. We love you guys!...... Suzanne Boone Downtown Charleston read more

This moving company has completely not taken responsibility of a water pipe they broke when we moved in. They were trying to disconnect the previous owner's washer/dryer, turned off the water with too much strength and the pipe burst. Instantly there were leaks to the lower floor, walls, master bedroom etc. Had to get emergency water damage people (Boss disaster) to come out, costs more than $2,000. Also had to have floors redone, costs more than $1,000), wall and paint repairs, costs more than $700, and 5 days of high powered fans throughout house to dry out (expensive energy bill). After multiple attempts to have company contribute to bills for the damage they caused, company has stopped responding. read more

Cougar Moving was absolutely AMAZING! Riley & Darrel were the best team, and we couldn't be happier with how our moving day went. They were communicative about when they would arrive so we could prepare, and they took care of our stuff as if it was their own. Even though most of our big items were already wrapped, they helped wrap the rest of our furniture before putting it in the truck. At our house, they were mindful about where to place everything and they even put down moving blankets to protect our new hardwood floors. We switched a few pieces of furniture around, and they didn't bat an eye when I asked them to move a piece here or there. I really appreciated how they asked for as much detail as possible upfront because we ended up paying exactly what we expected from our quote. They got it all done in about 5 hours, including commuting. You just cannot go wrong with Cougar Moving and we will happily use them every time!!! read more

I recently needed help moving my 3-bedroom home to a storage unit. One bedroom was nothing but exercise equipment, including a huge Bowflex Extreme 2 and 3 other large machines, and another was packed with furniture and boxes from wall to wall and ceiling to floor! Only one was an actually bedroom. I initially spoke with Isaiah, who scheduled a walkthrough of my home to assess what I needed. I was so impressed with his kindness and professionalism right off the bat....and also his personality bc it meshed well with myself. He told me what he thought was best and I instantly agreed. A few days later, Isaiah and Jamal showed up to tackle the job. Jamal was just as kind and professional as Isaiah. They were a good team and a good fit for me. They went right to work on the front of the house and I went to work in the back. They worked hard the entire time they were with me. And when it came time to tackle the exercise equipment, when they had been working for a few hours already, they did so without damaging my walls, doors or corners....unlike the company, who moved the equipment, to my home, from storage, years ago. When we got to the storage unit, the "well oiled machine" kicked into an even higher gear and filled that unit, piece by piece, like it was a paint by numbers picture. Everything made sense. They left the things upfront, that I asked for, for me to access. They never just tossed items bc things were filling up or they were tired. They treated my belongings like their own. I have zero complaints!! Isaiah and Jamal are ROCK STARS in my book and, in a few months, when renovations are complete, I'll again, be using Cougar Moving ONLY, and hoping I get the Dream Team, again! If there are any recognitions in the company that can be given, these guys deserve them all! Bonuses, awards, etc....please give those guys it all! Thank you Cougar!! I'll see you guys soon!! *****UPDATE***** I forgot to add that for the money, they can't be beat! They are the whole package: Professional / Hard working / Courteous / Knowledgeable / Kind / A Great Value!! I've not come across any other mover who could come CLOSE to matching this company and these guys! I'm a very happy customer who WILL be returning in a few months!! read more

These guys must have been pros at Tetris and Galaga because they sure were able to pack it all in and stay on target. They showed speed agility and precision all at once. Very impressed and would highly recommend this company. Not only is it the most economical but they're local and if you went to CofC, you can even snag a sweeter deal! read more

Very basic movers, guys shrink wrapped furniture versus using pads so some pieces were stained or scratched. OK for basic moves but not a full service moving company. read more

A horrible and very costly experience. Lots of broken valuables. When we questioned their work they threaten to sue. My wife and I have a valuable art collection. We were moving from our condo temporarily while it was being renovated to make it a more presentable place to show our art. Cougar claimed to have full insurance and people experienced in handling fragile valuables. They provided some references. They were supposed to pack and move our things into storage while our 6 mo + renovation was happening. They sent a crew over. Most or all seemed to be day-workers with no obvious experience in handling anything of value. They pack ceramic breakables next to each other with no packing material in between. They stack boxes marked "fragile / do not stack" on top of each other both in the truck and in the storage facility. Museum-quality art was broken. It was horrible. When I wrote to complain, the referred me to their attorney. I was in a commuting job to DC at the time and didn't have time to get into a fight with them then. read more

It has now been 18 months since my last communication with Taylor at Cougar moving. Apparently, he must have lawyered up on me. You can see my review on Facebook July 2022. I don't expect to hear from him now, but this is what I think of that company and its leadership: If they were the last moving company on earth, I would sell all my stuff rather than have them move it and destroy or damage it. read more

The team from Cougar Moving did an amazing job! The team packed and moved us from James Island to Johns Island this week and not a single thing was broken, they packed with such care and made sure my breakables were safe. They worked fast and efficiently. The team couldn't be more helpful in moving furniture around and making sure the boxes and furniture were where it needed to be. Taylor is awesome to work with and his kindness is seen within the team! Excellent communication throughout the process. He even came back after we moved to be sure we were happy, which we are! Hats off to Taylor and the hardworking team. Highly recommend and endorse! read more

We originally hired a U- Haul crew that couldn't get along and walked off the job! Leaving us stranded with a truck full of furniture in front of our new home. Cougar Moving Co. came to our rescue and worked through the night to unload and place furniture. These guys were amazing ! Can not praise them enough. Highly recommend using this group for your next move. Thank You again Curtis !! Tony & Roxane read more

I had Cougar Moving move me on 8/10. Isaiah and Jamal were our movers and they where on time and extremely respectful. The elevator in my complex was down and they didn't even complain. They wrapped everything with blankets and tape and were very quick and took care. These guys work hard in this heat so tip them well. They deserve it. read more

I had heard about Cougar moving company from a friend who couldn't stop talking about how great they were. So a year later when I decided to move, I didn't look anywhere else. Professionalism: extremely professional and genuinely care about getting the job done WELL. Price: affordable Satisfaction: super happy with the service I got from these guys. read more

I'm about to save you a bunch of time in your life. I did all the research and read all the reviews. I compared the cost of renting and crew and truck separately or having a company take care of it all. Some places were available while others weren't, but at the end of the day, I'm so glad I ended up with Cougar Moving Co. As others mentioned, I wasn't sure who to expect to show up for the move, but they were unbelievably professional and took such great care of everything. They wrapped everything properly while also taking care to be extra careful with any of the items we designated as ones we were worried about. I had some friends helping as well to help move the process along. I have a two bedroom place, but I can guarantee I have enough furniture in here for a 4 bedroom home! We actually had so much that we weren't able to fit everything on the truck. I wished I had know that a larger truck was an option, but I came back with a friend and a pickup truck for a couch, two bikes, and some left-over boxes. They were willing to come back, but it wasn't worth it to me for the additional cost when my buddy was available and willing to help. Loading up did take a while but there was a lot to be wrapped and we were coming from a second floor apartment. I was getting concerned about the initial quote being between 4 and 6 hours and we were well past the half way mark. On the other end, we really moved quick and got everything unloaded and furniture placed in just over an hour. We had 4 additional friends moving boxes and it was the first floor, but we really got it done quick. After all was said and done, we only went over by a 1/2 hour. Based on the quotes I received from other movers, we really saved some money without sacrificing quality and professionalism. As an added bonus, if you're an alumni or student at any local college, you receive a discounted rate as well. I've already recommended them to my friend who's moving later this month and I will continue to do so for anyone else looking for help moving. Having Cougar Moving Co help with my move was worth every penny and I would hire them again in an instant. read more

The movers showed up on time and worked hard until everything was complete! They were careful with fragile items and friendly! I would use them again for sure. They even moved a couch through the balcony. This is the second year in a row I used this company, still just as efficient, professional, and worth the money! Jacob and Andrew were wonderful, showed up on time and worked the entire time. They also offered to wrap anything and took care with fragile items. They also continue to offer an local student discount! Hopefully I don't move again next year, but if I do I'm calling them! read more

I just moved into downtown Charleston yesterday and hired Cougar to do the job. Tyler and the guys were so great. They are professional and hard working. They came out and gave me estimate and the price was great and we had a lot of stuff. They even took some stuff back to storage for me. They do every kind of move, small or large. Once I get through all these boxes I might call them back to take more stuff to storage. Living in an old Charleston home the storage isn't great. If you are looking for a mover don't hesitate to give them a call. The above review was from a year ago, I just moved again to be closer to the beach and of course called Cougar. I moved from a first floor apartment to 3rd floor place, I felt so bad for the guys but they were great. Can't say enough about this moving company, affordable and quality work, use them! read more

Great movers! Very hard working crew, well lead and courteous. Willing to do anything you ask them to do and happy to do it. My wife and I moved over 22k pounds out of storage and into a two story raised home. The crew that came out had it all completed in a single day. Two or three times just walking the stairs and I'm worn out, they kept it up for four hours heaving heavy furniture. Great job. Great company. Would definitely use them again and recommend to anyone needing local movers in the Charleston area. read more

Book them!! I had some items moved from one location and the delivery was 2 separate locations in different parts of the Charleston area. This team has great customer service and great prices compared to all the other quotes that I received. read more

I am having them out for an estimate. I truly hope that they provide better customer service than on the phone. This woman had poor command of the English language and was unable to spell my email, I had to spell it twice, it's an easy one. She got the date of our move wrong, I had to confirm it with her twice on the call.....an estimator is coming on Thursday. I would have preferred to work via email, but if this ignorant soul is going to be reviewing the paperwork no thanks! To say I am skeptical is an understatement. read more

I've moved seven times before I became a local in Charleston and four times since I've been in Charleston. Cougar moving is, by far, the most professional team of caring and competitively prices moving companies in town. I've used them for two of the last four moves. Their administrative coordinator, Christine, made the experience from quoting the job, working through timing changes and billing the most stress free of any moving company I've experienced in recent times. The movers have been timely, friendly and careful with all my possessions I highly recommend them. read more

They moved my daughter locally. The price was great and the service was excellent. Highly recommend.

Great experience with my recent move. Would strongly recommend. Very reasonable and reliable estimate for packing and moving. The guys went above and beyond to make sure everything was done right. They were prompt and professional. Worked diligently through a very hot day. Made special efforts to protect my recently refinished flooring. Had the pleasure of working with Jason, Taylor, Andrew, Rashad and Tim. For sure a five star experience. read more

These guys were great! Scheduling our move with Chris was easy and even though i underestimated how much junk we had to haul, our moving crew arrived and was up for the challenge. They were very transparent right off the bat about the actual time frame and pricing for the move with the additional items and it was still extremely affordable and went smoothly. Our crew, Connor and Andrew, were friendly, accommodating, and efficient despite walking into a bigger job than they anticipated. All our belongings were handled with care and this is my first move where something hasn't gotten broken, certainly a result of their diligence. I highly recommend them! read more

Great company. Fair pricing. Very responsive. Highly recommend. Team will go above and beyond. Discount for us C of C grads too!

Our experience with Cougar Moving was great. Response to phone calls or emails was prompt. Everyone was very professional both working out the details before and on the day of the move. We had a local move that was not big, but we had one pick up and two drop off locations, plus a tight schedule. We called a week ahead of time and needed to get the move done in an afternoon. The workers were careful and hustled getting everything done promptly and without incident. The price was reasonable, and the service could not have been better. It was such a relief not to have to worry about the movers. Taylor and the crew were awesome. read more

I had a wonderful experience with Cougar Moving not once, but twice! I moved back to Charleston a few weeks ago and unfortunately, had to move right back out and into a different complex a couple of weeks later due to apartment issues. Both times, the office staff were so helpful, friendly, and quick to respond to any questions and getting my contract and deposit finalized. The movers both times were really nice, fun guys that moved everything quickly and efficiently. I was so relieved to be able to book these movers again so last minute for the second move and even though they could only provide 2 movers versus the usual 3, the 2 movers were awesome and took a pretty tough move in stride! Would definitely recommend this company due to professionalism, friendly staff, good movers, and great pricing. read more

I have moved 7 times in my life, so I have some experience with moving and always found it a nightmare. Packing, lifting and more lifting. Well not this time. I hired Cougar Moving and let them do all the packing and all the lifting. Everything went smoothly. They showed up on time and moved fast. They never stopped until the job was done. I was in my new home in record time. The move team was careful with all my things and there were absolutely no dings on any of my walls. When I asked about whether they would fix any damage to paint or walls their response was "yes but that never happens". They were right no paint or walls were damaged and all my belongings were packed well, and nothing was broken. They even took the time to fix the installation of my sleep number bed. In a prior move it had been set up wrong. When I mentioned it to the Cougar team, they fixed it for me, and they knew what they were doing. I am now getting a comfortable night's sleep. This is going above and beyond! Thanks Cougar!!! The price was the best around and getting a quote and contract was quick and easy. What is usually a stressful moving day turned into a relaxing day as I sat on my sofa reading a book as Cougar took care of everything. This team knows what they are doing, and they care about the people they serve as much as they do about your belongings. Super professional and friendly! read more

There are enough 5 stars reviews on here that you should already be contacting Cougar Moving Company, but in case you need another 5 star rating to seal the deal, I'm happy to give it to you. My husband and I moved from one home to another and Taylor and his team did it with a breeze... no damages & no complaints. A special credit to Taylor for going above and beyond in offering to help me as he saw my struggles in getting things off the wall or discarding big items. I chose Cougar Moving because of the high ratings here and recommendations on a local FB page. They were also able to fit me in after Hurricane Dorian delayed my move and my initial mover could not longer accommodate me in the time I need them. My experience was just okay, and I would not recommend them. I had a very small move, unloading a 7x7x8 foot POD. They charged me the minimum of $180 for two hours which is understandable. BUT the two movers who showed up were very unprofessional. They called and asked if they could come early. I said that was great and told them the POD was around the back of the townhouse. They called me 15 minutes later asking where I was as they had been sitting out front for over 10 minutes. One of the guys was wearing FLIP FLOPS. Super unsafe. They were neither pleasant nor particularly helpful. They finished my move in about 45 minutes. They were not careful at all, overloading their arms, making me very nervous and even leaving a few scratches on my wall. They hap haphazardly stacked my belongs in each room stacking heavier boxes on top of lighter ones crushing some boxes and making it hard to even walk around the rooms. WHY??? There wasn't that much stuff. If there had been more stuff, it would have been a disaster. At the end, they didn't ask if there was anything else they could do even though there was over an hour left. I had to ask them to walk room to room to make sure everything was okay and ask them to relocate some furniture. Also, one of the guy was wearing cologne that adhered to several of my belongings and made them smell. The only time the guy smiled at me was when I handed them their tip, sudden attitude change. I would not use this company again. They just added stress to my move instead of making it smoother. read more

I wrote a review for these guys on Angie's List last year but thought I would spread the love on Yelp as well. Like other reviewers have pointed out, these guys are incredible. We used them for an unload of a moving truck from cross country and they did an excellent job. Nothing was broken, they worked hard, smart and fast (in July heat) and all three guys were super friendly to me, my wife and my two kids. Nobody likes moving, but if you have to move do yourself a favor and call Cougar Moving. They are top notch and will be my first call when we inevitably move again. read more

Jason and crew were prompt, courteous and fast moving out the dorm contents. Highest recommendation! Thanks!!!

I hired these guys to move my stuff from my old place to a new one a few miles away in Mt Pleasant. I was not sure what to expect-- maybe some younger guys with lots of brawn but not so much brains or experience. I am so happy to say that the crew that showed up was professional, polite, and extremely knowledgeable about moving. They wrapped my wood furniture to protect from dings and scratches. They were extremely helpful in scheduling and picking up furniture from a third location. They worked extremely hard and got all the moving done in a remarkably short time. My sister hired them recently, and my mom will be using them next month. Can't say enough good stuff about this company! read more
