Island movers are excellent--they helped me move from my Mt Pleasant home to downtown. I recently was left high and dry by a separate moving company--they canceled the day of. fortunately, Island movers were able to accommodate last minute and assist me with the move. Travis and Jay did a great job and were careful with the furniture. Definitely would use them again! read more

The reviews for this company were outstanding, so I chose them without hesitation. Unfortunately, there were many serious problems with the quality of their work. (1) John did not come in advance to see what needed to be moved, or to give me a final estimate. He came AFTER the move to tell me that they couldn't move the piano and that I needed to get someone else to do it. As a result, it was another two months till the piano was finally moved! (2) In addition, the estimate he gave me over the phone was almost doubled by the time the move was finished. I paid only $3,000 less for an in-city move, than for the interstate move we made the following year. (3) The workers were not supervised. They obviously hadn't been trained to move fragile antique furniture. Three valuable pieces were damaged, one a delicate 200+ year-old corner cabinet. The worker had just thrown a pad over it and didn't even secure it. I honestly couldn't believe my eyes. John did get the pieces fixed, although the handle of a beautiful Asian cabinet is still missing. John was a nice person. The workers worked at the speed of light. (Too fast, I think in retrospect.) But I regret having chosen this company. read more

This makes move #12 for us and I can say we have never had such a great experience with a move before! John and his team were polite, professional, fast, and showed up early. They were respectful with our things and brought a lighthearted attitude to what we all know is a long day. I cannot recommend them enough! read more

Don't hire these guys unless you want your furniture destroyed. I hired them to load 2 pods that were being shipped to Oregon. I told the team lead, Jeremy, that I wanted all furniture wrapped. After the pods were half packed, I went to inspect and saw that much of the furniture was not wrapped. When I complained about it and asked it to be wrapped, I was told by one of the guys that, "It's not my first rodeo" and that everything will be okay. When my pods arrived, both of my desks were destroyed ($2,500 in value), fragile boxes were placed on the bottom of other items and were crushed, and practically every piece of furniture was scratched. I messaged John, the owner, about it with pictures and videos. He promised to compensate me, but never followed up. read more

My wife and I have had many experiences with movers in the past..... never before have we had such a wonderful experience with a moving company! For this particular move, we had a challenging 300 gallon fish tank to move from Atlanta. We had to call numerous service providers both in Atlanta and Charleston before we could find someone willing to help. John and his team were total pros throughout the booking process and for the move itself. Everything went exactly as planned and the crew was super friendly and conscientious. The pricing was super reasonable and straightforward. We will definitely be using Island Moving Pros for our next move! Thanks so much to John and the guys! read more

We had to have several pieces of large, heavy antique furniture moved the next day, so I called John at Island Moving and he had us on the schedule for noon! The crew showed up early very polite and eager to get to work. They worked swiftly and efficiently taking great care to handle our antiques carefully and secured them with retractable, locking straps to both the dolly's and the truck. Once at the second location, again straight to work with a very professional and caring manner. We have moved many, many times and this is by far the most pleasant experience we have had! The price was fair and the service was excellent! read more

The guys from Island Moving Professionals were amazing. I heard about them via word-of-mouth and am so happy I was able to book them. They were professional and incredibly friendly from the time of scheduling the move through the end. The prices and estimated time were stated in the initial call (we actually finished a couple hours earlier than expected) and on the day of, they called to say they were on their way. The arrival window was 9:00 am - 9:30 am and they arrived at exactly 9:00 am. They wrapped all of our furniture with the utmost care and amazing efficiency, and moved incredibly fast. They were also the friendliest, most good-natured group of guys and were hilarious to be around. Island Moving made our move enjoyable and stress-free. I would highly, highly recommend them! read more

After Island Moving Professionals did such an amazing job on our huge move last September, we knew who to call for our next move. This job was smaller (just two rooms of furniture), but again the guys showed up early, worked quickly, efficiently and with care. Everything was in mint condition at the new place! Shout-out to John and his courteous, competent crew (Terence, Jeremy and Jay.) We will continue to recommend to our friends and use them again! read more

I highly recommend Island Moving!!! Movers I hired did not show up and I called about 20 movers panicking. Island Moving responded quickly and squeezed me into an already very busy schedule, on the busiest weekend of the month! John was empathetic, kind, and worked quickly to coordinate his employees. Bernard and Travis showed up enthusiastic and ready to work, even though they thought they would be going home after their first job. They were very considerate, conscientious, and extremely hard-working. They deserve 10 stars! read more

The guys from Island Movers were with us for more than 12 hours, patiently and professionally moving us from Downtown to Mt P. They were polite, respectful and careful with our things, with the freshly painted walls, and with our newly refinished floors. We wouldn't hesitate to use them again or to recommend them. Excellent job, guys! Thank you! Dyson and Michelle Richards read more

I called Island Moving to get a quote for a last minute move but they were all booked up on that day. John was super helpful recommending other moving companies and even told me that if I couldn't find anyone else to call him back and he would see if he could figure out a way to work me in. Based on the his quick responses and want to help me out I would absolutely recommend this company and would try them in the future! read more

Worse yet, this guy posted a review on me in retaliation! Watch out! To clarify, not only did I have these difficulties, this guy charged my card each day for undocumented time, travel (7 different days) and moving supplies. He unpacked almost nothing. His estimate was for packing, moving and unpacking. He charged me far more than the estimate and did not complete the job. It took me 6 months to unpack and go through my things. Many were thrown into the attic and some on top of a beautiful mirror. I found numerous broken items hidden inside of furniture stacked in the garage. My 2 antique bedroom suites were stacked on top of each other and severely damaged. Mr. McClain packed the kitchen and it was done right. The remainder of the packing and moving was done by his crew and was not done right. Please do your research. Get a written estimate, Order for service (contract) with or without additional insurance, take photographs so you have an inventory, review before signing a bill of lading, make sure your boxes are marked for inventory and then check them on arrival against your list for damage or missing items. Do not give access to your credit card. Pay at the end of any move. read more

Island Moving was extremely helpful and fit us into their busy schedule. Great with communication, updated us on their route when they were on the way, and were very prompt on arrival. Overall a great experience and couldn't recommend them enough! Thank you so much to John and his team! read more

John & his team were extraordinary! A testament to John as an on-hand owner and boss is that a number of his guys have been with him for years. They were all very professional and extremely accommodating. The only reason for 4 out of 5 stars is the company John hired to pack us the day before. In transparency, our move had to be rescheduled twice and John was short-handed so he had to hire outside his normal network and the group was terrible! Having said that, I've recommended Island Moving to my friends and would use them again. read more

John and his excellent, friendly and competent movers, Robert and Brian, did a wonderful job of moving me last week. It was a very rainy day, and could have been a disaster for my upholstered and wood furniture, but everything arrived in perfect condition. I was only moving a mile away, but I have a lot of stuff, and they had to move some to our self-storage and the rest to my new place. The entire move was accomplished in the estimated time of five hours. I felt the price was reasonable, and the guys went above and beyond for us. John came at the beginning, and, since it was raining, he stayed awhile and helped his men, which undoubtedly sped up the operation and helped with the bottom line. I highly recommend this company and would definitely use then again--though, hopefully, I won't be moving again for a very long time! read more

These guys were a life saver! My first moving company blew me off and I called John that afternoon, and they were able to help me the next day. They are all very kind, efficient, and did a great job! They even put my bed skirt on! I would definitely use them for future moves! read more

John and his crew are awesome! Very professional. Super friendly. Punctual. Packing was extremely careful and every single item arrived intact. They will be doing another move for my mom in the near future. I highly recommend Island Moving Professionals! So happy we found them! read more

Amazing job. We just moved to town and needed help with a very heavy television. I called and not only did they lower their usual cost since it was such a small job, but they sent four very professional, big, strong guys over on their way to another job. Excellent service, good price. I would definitely recommend them and will use them again. read more

Great experience, they showed up on time and worked hard. It was during the end of May when temperatures were almost 100 but the guys powered through and got the job done. read more

John and his crew of three professional men were fantastic! They were friendly, efficient, polite, and competent. Each time I had a concern or question regarding the handling of a piece of furniture, they put my mind at ease "no problem, we got this". We moved here from Maryland with a national moving company, and I can honestly say with 110% certainty...Island Movers beat them hands down in every way. I am a local real estate agent in Charleston and I will definitely recommend this company to any client needing moving services. read more

These guys are fantastic. Best communication, polite, on time and really, really careful. We needed a few things moved and my sister-in-law recommended John and his team. She has used them for one move and has them on the books for another next week. They were that good. You absolutely can not go wrong with Island Moving Pros. read more

I have done numerous long distance moves paid for by my employer. This was the first time I did a local move and got to choose the mover myself. I worked with Island Moving to first move some household items into storage and then again after I sold my house and moved. This team is fast, efficient, friendly and helpful. I have always found dealing with moving day the most stressful but this team put me at ease. Really did a good job for me both times. I highly recommend them. read more

I called around to compare prices for a moving company to move a fully packed 10 x 10 storage unit to a 2nd floor apartment. John McClain understood I was on a tight budget and did an outstanding job of explaining all of the costs and options best suited to my needs. His team confirmed the moving date and time to reassure me and they showed up right on time! His team of 4 moved everything in 2 1/4 hours!!!! The men were respectful and very careful with my things. Nothing was damaged!!!! I would highly recommend Island Moving and think they are experienced at all that they do!!!!! read more
