After brunch one weekend, my friend and I decided to try out the Read Shop for some tea and a place to work. Upon entry, we noticed how busy the shop was. But also noticed how cute it was and was glad we stumbled upon this place. It was a great place to work but not too long as it isn't comfortable to sit with a good posture for a computer. At least where we sat. But I saw some great places to sit and read. Also the service was great with delicious tea and hot drinks. Lastly, plenty of parking is nearby and free.

The cafe was so cute and was also a bookstore ! There weren't too many seating options inside the shop. I got the matcha latte with lavender syrup. It was a little too sweet and the matcha flavor wasn't too strong. The service was friendly. Overall, the drink was okay but the space was cute.

I think this place is a really cute idea and is the perfect spot for a girls date. The coffee is pretty good but I preferred the matcha. The coffee drinks are a solid 3/5 but the environment adds a star to the rating. They have a lot of really fun books and great artwork inside the stop. There is very limited seating inside but there is also seating outside if you wanna stick around. Their food options are limited and I didn't see anything gluten free options.

I came here while waiting for my appointment at the spa nearby and I'm SO glad I did! I have seen this place on social media a ton, and I'm so glad it was literally down the street from the spa. I got an iced caramel latte with almond milk and this coffee is 10/10!! I felt alert yet relaxed, and I spent about an hour there answering emails. I got a warmed butter croissant as well, which was buttery and delicious. The book selection was pretty simple, and I wish they would have had a few more fiction books (but, I'm sure it's based on purchasing data). I love this place and will definitely return!!

I came here to get some work done and the coffee definitely helped me tackle all my tasks for the day. The price is definitely worth it. There is limited seating but the spots they do have, both indoor and outdoor, have a nice view. They also sell some really interesting items if you feel like browsing. Overall, A1!

I love this little gem of a place. It was a super peaceful environment. The staff was extraordinary friendly. I absolutely loved Aaliyah. She was really sweet and made some great recommendations. I got a fantastic lavender vanilla iced latte that was so good. I highly recommend this spot for fun coffee drinks.

Highly rated chai! I think about the iced pumpkin spice chai latte all the time. It had an amazing flavor and depth to it. Also, the coffee is affordable, not overpriced. The menu is on the simpler side, and there isn't much seating. There's also no outlets, but there's a few seats by the window. I love the book theme, and how it's a chill cafe to read and sip chai to. There is a free parking lot next to it, and they offer punchable cards as their reward program.

This is a cute lil gem of a spot. We were both satisfied with our drinks, the space was small but clean, & there's outdoor seating. Cool concept for Us book & caffeine lovers. Parking was tight, but folks are II in & out; so it's not hard to find a spot. Enjoy

This is quite the hidden gem of a bookstore in Atlanta! This place feels very cozy and calming. There are countless books throughout the entire store sorted by genres. They even have a downstairs area filled with additional books as well as periodicals and magazines. The store almost transports you back in time, because there are sooooo many older and vintage copies of books. They even have some signed books for sale too! I saw a Dr. Seuss booked that was signed by the man himself...pretty cool if I do say so myself! The signed copies vary, but definitely take a look when you're there! It would make a super cool gift for someone. Another cool thing, is that they have 2 store cats! You will most likely find them by the front desk with the employees. One was napping when I came and the other was sitting right by the desk. The books all vary in price. It kinda just depends on what you get. I'll definitely be back in the future to take a further look!

The parking lot is on a kind of weird hill but there's plenty of parking spots. The front door of the store opens to a small lobby with a cashier/desk, but the store is actually very large. We were greeted at both the front entrance and when we were in the jewelry/rock room. This is called a bookstore but it's really much more. The selection of books is vast and niche at the same time. I picked up a little astrology book I'm very excited to get into. There is a huge and stunning wall of rocks and gems you can self-service with a variety of types, shapes, finishes and priced at a very accessible level. I picked out several different rocks from the wall. They also have jewelry, candles, accessories, I can't even begin to list everything available here. The best part is the store cats. They are beauty, they are grace and I love them. Also wonderful the Sagittarius that rang up my purchases. I can't wait to come back and visit with my best friend again! Thank you Phoenix & Dragon!

I love this little bookstore!…read more Well, there's nothing little about the space and endless opportunities to find literary greatness at this bookstore in the heart of Decatur. I've had the opportunity to visit Little Shop of Stories numerous times since I moved to Atlanta, but my visits totally hit differently now that I'm a mom. As someone raised by a teacher (with help from Reading Rainbow and Levar Burton), I've passed this onto my son although he can't read yet, lol. So we are always adding to his little library as he grows. Beyond books, Little Shop of Stories also carries so many fun educational toys for kids and books for readers of all ages. It's so easy to get lost in their large collections, but luckily they keep it incredibly organized and make it easy to find whatever your imagination can dream of. After finding a few goodies to take home to my little one, I strolled around the store a bit more and took in the whimsical vibes. Just being in there lifted my mood! Seriously a wonderful place to transport yourself into the magical world of books and discovery, no matter your age.

I'm so happy that not only does Little Shop of Stories continue to survive, but it is unequivocally THRIVING. in a word of online shopping and digital interaction, this community cornerstone understands that they can achieve a unique experience by simply continuing to do what they've always done, and continue to do it proudly! If you haven't been in a while, it's worth a revisit because as of this past fall (2025) they've revamped the interior. It is truly incredible. Stop in as an adult for coffee with or without a child! You won't regret it!

My Review of the Book Crook: Waiting 48 Years to Leave This Google Review…read more On my 13th birthday decades ago, my parents opened a small new-and-used bookstore called The Book Trading Post here in the Atlanta area. They ran it successfully for 12 years. My father had connected with Alex, the owner of the original Book Nook on or near North Decatur/Clairmont, who promised a great variety of around 30,000 books. What arrived instead were massive duplicates -- 30 to 50 copies of the same titles. It was a horrible, upsetting experience that stayed with my father. At the time I was 13 and didn't really know what it all meant -- I just knew he was upset. My father passed in 1981 after chemotherapy and radiation at Emory. Recently, I brought in a large personal collection to the current Book Nook Decatur location -- over 130 albums plus many books, including rare 1940s-1960s sci-fi classics and a signed copy of Miracle in Atlanta. As a longtime collector of coins, books, comics, historic color brochures, and more, I knew the value easily exceeded $500, likely more. I first spoke with the manager on March 25th of this year. He gave a standard percentage quote and left a message. When I returned on March 27th to collect payment, I received just $70. They kept all the books -- which filled the entire counter on the right when you walk in -- and roughly half the albums. I left with two small suitcases. Walking around the store afterward, I saw their selling prices and realized they stand to make a substantial profit. I spoke with the manager (Doogie, like Doogie Howser from the 1980s show) and then with an employee named Scott, who has been there for years. I shared some of this backstory. Scott was pretend friendly and even suggested I didn't really need to write a bad review. That conversation left me feeling extremely uncomfortable, and that discomfort is exactly why I decided to write this review now. The owner is very old (likely in his late 80s or early 90s) and does not come into the store. I felt the manager was dishonest in the way the offer and process were handled. It all felt like history repeating itself in the worst way -- like a scene from Red Dawn: "Avenge me." In the end, I just took the money to be done with it. This isn't just about one low payout. Most people don't know the old story of The Book Trading Post and that first disappointing deal with the Book Nook. Now the full 48-year circle -- from my parents' store in the 1970s to today -- is part of the public record. If you have anything of real value (books, albums, collectibles), think carefully before bringing it here. Get your own realistic expectations and consider other options. P.S. For comedy purposes, I've officially renamed this place The Book Crook.
