The wonder of Crystals that come in different sizes, 01.05.2023.
    Kathryn L.

What a purposeful & enlightening emporium serving as a bookstore, retail store, library & marketplace within a calming flow environment. My Bonus Daughter shops here often & raves about P&DB. On a last-minute visit, she brought me along with her & it was pure transformational energy for me. Regardless of your personal voyages, this store offers something for everyone to embrace & illuminate along the way - altars, divination systems, pendulums, statues, cards, cloths, Incenses & much more. Jillian, the employee who assisted me (you know I like Q&As) is highly knowledgeable about the store's inventory. Not to mention her contagious vibe & aurora naturally elucidated throughout the store & adding to the atmosphere. Not only a wonderful retail experience, yet one could be in tune with different parameters outside of human sense perception/material reality. My pictures do half justice to the variety of merchandise. I recommend Phoenix & Dragon Bookstore for any & all...especially the vast forms of Crystals. Love & Light.

There really should be more than 5 stars available on Yelp, don't you think? Because this store would definitely get ALL of the stars! They have everything - most importantly knowledgeable and helpful staff members - and I literally went twice in one day because I wanted to give them all of my money. The prices are very reasonable, and the selection unmatched. I went initially because I needed to get in a good headspace around a particular work situation, and I returned because I want to explore more of my spiritual side. I am seriously a fan.

Beautiful store! I only came to this store in Atlanta and did nothing else (I came for a job interview) and the selection of tarot cards is incredible! Everything is neatly organized with demo decks available to go through, just a little upset that they do have a lot of oracle card choices just not everything in stock. There is also not multiple copies of one book but I think that adds to the unique experience. I with there would've been more books about chaos magic and spell work (but that's a personal preference of mine) but the range of books is very wide! They also do have an area of books and statues of dietes but don't have a lot of the popular ones like Aphrodite and Lilith. They have a wide selection of crystals and sizes. There is not much or any herbs that I remember seeing but a lot of incense and candles.

The friendliest staff ever! I really enjoy coming here. Everyone is so knowledgeable on the services and products that they have to offer. Someone is always ready to help and guide me to find what exactly i'm looking for. The cats are a great bonus too! A little on the pricier side, but you do pay for quality. This is also my go-to place for rings!

I love this place! For me there's a calming effect and a positive vibe in this store. The employees are very helpful and knowledgeable, and are eager to assist. This is not a regular bookstore; It's a retail store full of items that people can use every day to help celebrate the human spirit. I came here on a Saturday afternoon in mid-November to just look for clear quartz and polished black obsidian, to price sage bundles, and to see what other information I could find about how to keep my energy points in my body open and ways to try to stay positive as much as possible. Parking was an issue when I arrived, but I was lucky enough to find an open space in the free parking lot near the front door of Phoenix and Dragon Bookstore. the outside of the building is looks old and plain, and gives no hint as to what's inside. There are multiple rooms/areas in the store that feature different items/products. The first room is where a cash register is and this area looks more like a gift shop. The main room has a very large variety of crystals of various sizes, all of them separated by type and size. This is where I looked for large polished black obsidian, but the bin where it should've been was empty and they didn't have any more. I also looked for a couple of clear quartz crystals, but, at the risk of sounding crazy, I didn't get a clear and positive vibe from any of them. If you're into crystals and what they can do for you, you'll know what I mean. One of the most popular uses of black obsidian is to create a shield of protection to ward off negative or harmful energies. Clear quartz is a powerful crystal with a very restorative and amplifying energy. It's often used with other stones to strengthen their effects, making it a great addition to crystal grids. There are also large selections of essential oils, aromatherapy items, candles, books, herbs and incense, tarot and oracle, gifts, jewelry and knick knacks spread throughout this and the other rooms. I found some sage that I use to purify my condo, and bundles here are less expensive than I've found at other similar stores. Oh, and this bookstore has an area outside where classes, such as Goat Yoga, are held when the weather is nice. While yogis do their yoga things, dwarf goats are free to roam wherever they please, and may hop around, climb yogis' backs, sit on top of them, and even nap on them or their mats while yogis let go of all their stresses. I arrived as the class was breaking upon but there were these cute dwarf goats still walking around on the outdoor deck doing their things. I could actually spend a lot of time in this store. Just be aware that there are at least two very chill cats that roam and laze wherever they please, since this is their domain. It looks like they just have one speed, ALOOF, and remain that way, even when customers lavish a lot of attention on them. I love this store and many of the things it has to offer - helpful and welcoming employees, positive vibe, nice and clean store, and good prices.

Ask the Community - Phoenix & Dragon Bookstore

John Twombley would have frequented P and D Bookstore quite often, if he was still alive. He was a very clear channel. I have not known anyone like him. Is there anyone out there in ATL that is near to being his equal? Please let me know. TIA.

I'm not sure who John twombley is. Maybe you can call the store and ask if someone is there to meet your needs

I enjoyed coming back here to buy a Rifle Paper Co. umbrella. I wanted a very chic umbrella. I used to have a pretty stylish large black umbrella with white polka dots and a wooden curvy handle but I forgot it somewhere because it wasn't foldable (the brand was Business and Pleasure Co., and I think I spent more than a hundred bucks on that umbrella). The Rifle Paper Co. has some cute prints but the foldable umbrella feels too small and flimsy. The print has a particular bird that lives in the Los Angeles Arboretum, which I discovered on a rainy day at the end of December 2019, so I had no choice but to get that umbrella. It's going to work in light rain but not in a major thunderstorm or on a blustery day.

However, the manager did handle everything in a professional and accommodating way even with the miscommunication. Surprisingly this location had a small section of Legos (I wasn't expecting to see that at all) And they had a very small section of black authors. I haven't been to this location in years, but the upkeep is still pretty good.

This is quite the hidden gem of a bookstore in Atlanta! This place feels very cozy and calming. There are countless books throughout the entire store sorted by genres. The store almost transports you back in time, because there are sooooo many older and vintage copies of books. They even have some signed books for sale too! My Review of the Book Crook: Waiting 48 Years to Leave This Google Review…read more On my 13th birthday decades ago, my parents opened a small new-and-used bookstore called The Book Trading Post here in the Atlanta area. They ran it successfully for 12 years. My father had connected with Alex, the owner of the original Book Nook on or near North Decatur/Clairmont, who promised a great variety of around 30,000 books. What arrived instead were massive duplicates -- 30 to 50 copies of the same titles. It was a horrible, upsetting experience that stayed with my father. At the time I was 13 and didn't really know what it all meant -- I just knew he was upset. My father passed in 1981 after chemotherapy and radiation at Emory. Recently, I brought in a large personal collection to the current Book Nook Decatur location -- over 130 albums plus many books, including rare 1940s-1960s sci-fi classics and a signed copy of Miracle in Atlanta. As a longtime collector of coins, books, comics, historic color brochures, and more, I knew the value easily exceeded $500, likely more. I first spoke with the manager on March 25th of this year. He gave a standard percentage quote and left a message. When I returned on March 27th to collect payment, I received just $70. They kept all the books -- which filled the entire counter on the right when you walk in -- and roughly half the albums. I left with two small suitcases. Walking around the store afterward, I saw their selling prices and realized they stand to make a substantial profit. I spoke with the manager (Doogie, like Doogie Howser from the 1980s show) and then with an employee named Scott, who has been there for years. I shared some of this backstory. Scott was pretend friendly and even suggested I didn't really need to write a bad review. That conversation left me feeling extremely uncomfortable, and that discomfort is exactly why I decided to write this review now. The owner is very old (likely in his late 80s or early 90s) and does not come into the store. I felt the manager was dishonest in the way the offer and process were handled. It all felt like history repeating itself in the worst way -- like a scene from Red Dawn: "Avenge me." In the end, I just took the money to be done with it. This isn't just about one low payout. Most people don't know the old story of The Book Trading Post and that first disappointing deal with the Book Nook. Now the full 48-year circle -- from my parents' store in the 1970s to today -- is part of the public record. If you have anything of real value (books, albums, collectibles), think carefully before bringing it here. Get your own realistic expectations and consider other options. P.S. For comedy purposes, I've officially renamed this place The Book Crook.
