I made an appointment for two discovery flights: helicopter and fixed. After a few snags, (which happen) one was cancelled but the team mad and extra effort to make the other one a "Go"! They actually went above and beyond to ensure the experience was awesome. A few days later I got a call from Jack, who works there. He had arranged to have me come back to the airport and do a flight to rectify the mishap which resulted in one of my flights cancelled. Again they went above and beyond to make the experience a memorable one. The two flight instructors I had were super professional and a joy to fly with. They definitely knew there stuff as well. The aircraft were in excellent condition and flew wonderfully. Because of this experience I am finishing out all my ratings with Leading Edge. I highly recommend them. You won't be disappointed.

Flying at SAW was the most exciting flying that I have ever done in my aviation career. The owner Mike, and the other instructors that I flew with had an abundance of knowledge to pass on. Without a doubt this was the most professional flight schools that I have seen/attended. Flight Instruction Quality: Every instruction for the day began and ended with a formal briefing. These briefings weren't over the top, but they did cover the essentials which really made me feel like I was getting the most out of the flight that day. One good example was my first formation flight. The day before we went over a detailed powerpoint that covered FFI and FAST criteria for professional formation flights. All the instructors were very easy to talk to and enjoyed teaching, which I know can be a challenge for other flight schools because most instructors are just trying to accrue hours -- not the case for SAW though. To me, it felt like the instructors cared more about safety and making me a better pilot, and less about money or flight hours. Plane & Equipment: All the equipment was very well taken care of and kept up to date. There was also computer training availability with a VR headset. We used the VR a couple of times to allow me to visualize the aerobatic maneuvers before hopping right into the plane (this helped lower my spendings). Another great tool that maximized my training was filming the entire fight from multiple angles. Mike has cameras set up on the Decathlon and we would review the maneuvers after every flight. When I was there, Mike was also working on implementing an Insta 360 camera that could transition into the VR headset. I found that viewing (360 view) my flight through VR helped me visualize the small errors in my control inputs versus trying to correct them in the air. Feedback: Overall, the instruction was outstanding. It's not often that you come across a school with instructors that have as much combined aviation experience as SAW. I really don't have any negative things to say about them. All flight training is expensive in my opinion, but SAW was very fairly priced for the level of information/training they provide. It's not hard to imagine, but being trained by former fighter pilots enhanced my piloting skills 10 fold. I definitely plan on going back to them in the future. Recommend For: I would highly recommend training at SAW to anyone that is interested. Private pilot and up. Personal one-on-one training that is tailored for all experience levels. If you're a student pilot I might recommend that you get your PPL before receiving any aerobatic/formation training just so you have more of a foundation, but it would never hurt.

I was told that they were gonna check on some things and get back to me the next day. I received no call back. So I checked another flight school in the area during the next month or so but Berg Air was always in the back of my mind. So when I was in the local area I went and check in in person. Owner was out of town getting back the next day. I waited a few days and called and left a message with no return call. I waited another two days and called again. The owner still not in, so I left a message with the front desk. That was two weeks ago. I haven't heard anything from them at all. Makes me question the efficiency and quality of the flight school when I CAN NOT EVEN get a call back when having left messages, let alone not having one from the first call back I was originally told I'd get. I love local, small business ran FBO's. However lack of follow through and no communication makes me weary.

They listed a number to call for the FBO manager. After calling the manager said she would use the fuel truck and honor the self serve fuel price. They even offered to fill up the plane! It was great service! They have an awesome pilot lounge, where we waited and had some food and beverages! All around exceptional service and hospitality!! They even have a crew car, if needed! ALL good things to know!

Installed new EI fuel flow, cyl head temp, oil pressure/oil temp systems in 1960 C180C in 2006. All…read morenew firewall forward. The airplane has 360 hours since. Very well maintained no corrosion environment. Fuel flow transducer began intermittence 3 years ago. EI said to replace connectors did so with no change. Transducer is failing. Gauge experienced LCD light failure after 10 years. While flying Aug. 5 2019 oil pressure gauge became erratic. Made precautionary landing in remote city. After thorough check of engine by 2 certified mechanics at CONSIDERABLE COST the culprit was EI oil pressure transducer. Mechanical gauge installed solved the problem. When talking to EI their attitude was that this is an electronic device and I got 12 plus years out of it just buy a new one. This was my OIL PRESSURE read out!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The heartbeat of the engine!! Pilots and aircraft owners beware of erroneous readings from Electronics International oil pressure sensors as well as other problems. This junk does not last!!!
