Dear AFC Urgent Care,…read more On July 8, 2026, at 7:15 pm, I scheduled an appointment with Urgent Care for my husband, who had been ill for approximately one week with flu symptoms, including cough, congestion, headache, body aches, and episodes of sweating. The nurse or medical assistant--I'm not sure of his title since he didn't inform us--took my husband's vital signs without wearing a mask and was seen coughing into his hand. Additionally, he did not wash his hands before or after taking my husband's vital signs. My husband's vital signs were normal. The Nurse Practitioner (NP) examined my husband's ears, throat, and chest. She acknowledged his reported symptoms but did not report any concerns after completing her physical assessment and interview. She did not order or perform a nasal swab, draw blood, collect a urine sample, or conduct a chest X-ray. Instead, she performed an EKG, which was reported as normal. Unfortunately, my husband did not receive a diagnosis or prescription. He was advised to go to the emergency room for blood work and a chest X-ray. We believe that the care he received was inadequate and that the EKG was unnecessary. I had informed the NP that my husband had recently undergone a full workup with a cardiologist, which revealed no concerns. Additionally, my husband informed the NP that he had not and was not experiencing any chest pain.

The spots are tiny, traffic backs up constantly, and getting in or out is unnecessarily stressful. Unfortunately, the parking is only the beginning. The quality of care at this location is extremely poor. It became so bad that I had to transfer my care out of this clinic entirely. I filed a formal complaint with the VA Patient Advocate's Office and also reported my former primary care provider and nurse to the Medical Board of California due to serious concerns about malpractice. If you need lab work, be prepared to wait up to two hours for a simple blood draw. Completely unacceptable. As a veteran with PTSD, this clinic environment triggers anxiety rather than providing care or support. This place has caused me more stress than help. I have been here at 530 pm and walked out by 6. From entry to paperwork to physical. And I have excellent insurance! SB Urgent Care is opened seven days a week. Cash & card accepted. Opened in the evenings. No appointment necessary. I appreciate they are organized, affordable, and hassle-free. Although I come for the physical other patients were there for medical situations. The only drawback is that you can hear everything. If you have a sensitive situation, whisper or write it down. I made the decision to bring her in to Rady Children's Urgent Care in Chula Vista. This was our second visit at this particular location. Check-in was quick and easy. They quoted us an hour and 45 minutes (that's to be expected due to flu season). The nurse provided us with a return card which enabled us to go back home and wait until our call number was "called". This made the waiting process more efficient and comfortable. Overall, the quality of care was superb! The nurse was super friendly and helpful. She offered to give my daughter a Gatorade to boost her electrolytes. And Doctor Maryann Betty was thorough and quick to diagnose. From start to finish we spent about 30 minutes inside the care room. Very pleased with our experience!

He is such a great doctor - super nice and very thorough with the few concerns I did have. Because of him my physicals are quick and easy, which is very alleviating when I see doctors as a patient! I've also gone here once on a non-physical appointment. On that appointment I saw Dr. Tran. He addressed my concerns to my satisfaction and his prescriptions helped me get a lot better. The support staff from the check-in desk to the RNs and even the lab staff are super friendly. Whenever I go here they ensure that my visit is hassle-free. I also have good medical insurance so no surprise bills to come out of here. PS: My only concern is that Scripps doesn't have an urgent care location south of the 52. I know that as of my last visit they were promoting HealthExpress so at least there's an option there but it just sucks that I would have to drive the equivalent distance of going to work just to be seen.
