When we brought up our issues to the owner, Matthew, we got the same angry/aggressive response as if we were in the wrong for speaking up. We had a preliminary discussion on the phone about what needed to be done, and he assured me that he was qualified in all the required areas. It's also important to note that Mike is a licensed contractor. Mike came to the house at the appointed time and date and reviewed my list and checked out the areas where the work was needed. He gave me an estimate based on the number of hours he thought the work would take over a three-day period. Unfortunately, the visible black cord that was on the side of mailbox looked increasingly tacky each time I looked at it. My husband and I racked our brains on ways we could hide/camouflage the cord and we finally decided the best way would be to dig out the mortar between stones and hide the cord that way, running it to the back of the mailbox .
