Ram Jack of Arizona - Stem Wall repair in progress

Ram Jack of Arizona

We bought our first home in 2020 and oh boy we were put through the first homeowner ringer during…read more2022. We noticed cracks in our drywall along our wall/ ceiling/ vents and a majority of our doors no longer closed properly. We called Ram Jack and Brian Patrick was able to come out to get us started on the process quickly! He explained the process thoroughly and was able to give us a timeline for the project. We did work with another company to obtain a comparable quote. The quote process for the other company took much longer and ended up being at least $10K more than Ram Jack's quote. We really appreciated Brian's communication throughout the entire project and willingness to work with us whenever we had any questions or concerns. We were able to reach him whenever we had questions and he made a point to stop by and talk to us in person if necessary. We didn't have this level of communication from some other major repairs to our home and honestly we felt such a relief knowing the details of project coverage and timeline of repairs for our home. Now for the actual project work: The team was prompt and was scheduled to be on site for a little over a week. They kept me updated on when they'd arrive/ leave for the day and whether the project was progressing as planned. The week of the project of course had a major rain storm after the team had already pulled dirt from the spots where piers were planned to go. Because of the storm, a lot of the dirt piles turned into mud and mixed with the landscaping rock in our front yard. Through communication with Brian, Cam, and Lee as well as the team on site (Marcos, and another team member who's name I believe started with a J), they were able to restore our front yard from a muddy mess back to original condition. Overall we had a great experience with Ram Jack!

If it weren't for the difference in the color, you wouldn't be able to tell any repair was even done - except it looks much nicer now. This company did meticulous work for us and my husband and I were very impressed.

After…read morethe water leak under our driveway was repaired, we had the people at Groundworks Phoenix come out and do a free inspection of the concrete to determine how much damage had been done. We first met Donovan Urbano who called on his way to the appointment and arrived promptly as promised. He, along with our plumber did a complete and thorough assessment of the damaged area and gave us a quote on fixing the issues. Donovan was polite and professional and we started the process of getting the job started. Today, we met Anthony C. The team leader for our repair crew. He called the night before and told us what time to expect them this morning and then called again when they were on their way. They arrived precisely on-time, did their assessment of the job and got right to work. His crew, JT T. and Kyle S. were hard working and competent and finished the job within the timeline Anthony promised. They left the job site in immaculate condition and our driveway looks beautiful. Anthony went through all of the work that was done and I'm certain that our driveway was safe and secure. Groundworks Phoenix is an extraordinary employee owned company with an excellent national reputation and very high standards. I highly recommend Groundworks Phoenix for anyone with water damaged concrete. We hope that we never need their services again, but we would not call anyone else if we do.

Arizona Foundation Solutions - Measuring horizontal cracks in a concrete stem wall

I had a great experience getting the free estimate from AFS. Due to a miscommunication, I missed…read morethe initial appointment. David S., the estimator, was very understanding. We talked on the phone. I had many questions. He took the time to answer them all. With rescheduling, the office staff were always friendly and accommodating. David S. was knowledgeable and informative, but never sales-y. After the inspection, he emailed a report with the measurement data, a diagram of the home indicating where repairs would be made and several options. No repeated calls or pressure to schedule work soon. The foundation stabilization and repair options included installing helical and push piers, underpinning, the poly filler, stem wall patches and repairs. There was a lot offered and the overall total was very costly. I do understand I'm not just paying for getting the piers installed, but all the knowledge, time and coordination to get there. After the initial freak-out at seeing the cost, I know I can discuss with David S. what parts are critical and how to reduce the total. There were various degrees, like a base package versus something that had more features. Some items AFS would be contracting out, so there's potential to save if I hired those contractors directly. I believe the specialty of AFS is installing piers. If you only need foundation patching, you might search for structural concrete specialists. As some reviewers noted, utilizing AFS will be much more expensive in those situations. Ask your contact. If you're a homeowner reading this, you're probably worried about some things you've seen in your home. The last thing you need is the added stress of someone trying to get you to sign off on a project. Of course, if it was urgent...fortunately, my home isn't in danger of falling down tomorrow. I'm grateful AFS provided a no-cost, no-pressure assessment. David S. provided the data for me to make an informed decision. He didn't use any and fear or pressure tactics. When hiring a contractor, I want one that I can have a collaborative conversation with. I can't speak to the installation itself, but if I decide to go with piers, poly fill or underpinning, I feel good reaching out to David S. to further discuss and make changes to the solution. I haven't decided on what to do with the foundation. There are more urgent home repairs. I also wanted to make sure I found root causes and to make sure those were addressed. Something I learned through this process: if you're seeing signs of foundation settlement, look for areas that are wet by pushing a stick around the perimeter of the house. Even if unused, sprinkler systems, irrigation or service lines can have water leaks that will cause the soil to expand and shrink. Those lines need to be repaired or if unused, capped off. I have unused sprinkler lines running right along the back of the house! Oh, after scheduling the appointment, AFS sent a book about foundation issues. It cost a bit to send. I support reducing waste. If you don't want the book, I wonder if you can ask them not to send and email a link instead!
