    I had an appt with the Dedham location recently. I am undergoing chemotherapy for a cancer that…read morerenders me severely immunocompromised. As I do when scheduling all my appointments, I always ask the scheduler on the phone to please ask if the technician, medical staff, etc. would be willing to wear a mask for my appointment and to please make a note of it on my appointment. They said yes to all. When I arrived for my very early appointment, I checked in and asked the receptionist to please confirm that the tech would wear a mask during my appointment. She checked and came back to tell me that the tech declined. I said that I'm undergoing chemo and I'm severely immunocompromised. She said he doesn't have to because of their facility policy, so he won't. I walked out as this would not be safe for me. Seeing that this is a medical establishment, this is totally outrageous that a health care provider would not do something as simple as wear a mask for 45 minutes in order to keep the patient safe. Before covid it wouldn't even have been an issue, but now, I have to go through all this hassle just to get a medical test completed safely. I called another facility and they said "of course, no problem at all!" Shame on Shields MRI for not protecting vulnerable patients' health and I encourage anyone with a problem with their immune system, or if you live with someone with a problem with their immune system, to steer clear of Shields. If that's their attitude, they are just awful. I would write directly to the owner/CEO Thomas Shields, but I cannot find any contact info for him online.

I went in today and have to say this is by far the best facility I have been too. The staff was amazing and the techs make you so comfortable, that I didn't have any issues. The sleep mask they provide along with ear plugs and music is the best! They ask several times if you are okay and really care about your experience and wellbeing. I can't say enough about this facility. Anyone who fears " casket of doom" MRI's need to try a Sheilds facility. It was a beautiful building with all sorts of orthopedic and sports injury rehabilitation offices. Definitely state of the art and top notch. They have some of the best doctors at this location as well. They are affiliated with New England Baptist. Simply the best!

    Great deal of prep for my appointment. Verified my current insurance covered this facility. Got a…read moreCD of prior imaging done at another place, when my insurance didn't cover out of state. Verified with scheduling staff they did it all in one visit (they always find something questionable) and she said she'd put a note in my file. Previously recommended by my doctor, after refusing mammograms for 10 years, due to being left hanging for weeks on stressful "We found something we want a closer look at." The long drive, standing at check-in, "And they'll complete it all today?", ... "No, you'll need another appointment if they want a closer look at anything." It's a good thing I verified "all in one day", else ... oh wait, never mind. Never again.

I went because it is located very close to my house, but that convenience was not worth it. They always made me wait a long time - even when I had appointments on days that should have been light, such as New Year's Eve. It's better to travel further for a place that is more efficiently run and keeps the appointment times that they give you. My negative experiences include: 1. A rude tone on the phone. Nobody enjoys this process and the people who answer the phone could at least take a professional tone if being nice is too much to ask. 2. Scheduling problems - I canceled an appointment when I transferred my care to another facility. The person who said she would take care of the cancelation never entered it in the system. I got automated reminder calls and a missed appointment message. The administration of this place is rock bottom and they will turn around and blame you for their incompetence with a "Did not keep appointment" mark against you. 3. I also had a less than ideal false positive experience here. I didn't get the sense that there was any incompetence on the part of the technicians or doctors but the interactions were impersonal and the explanations were not very thorough or satisfying. 4. The long wait times in a depressing environment. It does have a shabby feel and I waited forever with no updates. I politely checked that there wasn't an oversight and they hadn't forgotten about me. They didn't like that and there weren't any apologies for the wait - I think this is just how they normally run the place.
