BEWARE!!! The owner of this business does NOT take Covid precautions, does not wear a mask and when asked to do so is not a happy camper. Being very experienced in maintenance and repair through my business, I have dealt with all types of contractors, plumbers, handymen, etc.. It is invaluable to have good contacts. After moving to the Poway area, I knew my previous plumber would not travel this far. I used yelp to find Ray's plumbing, and it was spot on! Gary was professional and friendly, a total straight shooter. He was able to make an appointment for us within two days and was in and out of our house in two hours. We anticipated our plumbing issues being very costly, and I believe that they would have been if we had used someone else... Gary at Ray's plumbing (owner) is a great plumber - he has set toilets (1956 vintage reset and new installs), installed new vanity and sink and done drain removal for me. Always checks the shut off valves to be sure they are not rusted (trust me - you want these to be operable in an emergency!) Teaches you tips and tricks for your own maintenance. THE BEST!! I will never use anyone else. To start with, Gary is the nicest man in the world. Secondly, he showed up on time (early, in fact). My toilet has been running nonstop for over a week and when he came to check it, it stopped after he flushed it (so frustrating, it felt just like when you take the car to the mechanic and it doesn't make the noise you're complaining about)... Anyway, he said he didn't want me to pay for a part that I don't seem to need, but that if it starts running again to call him and he'll come back and install the part. "No charge today, good luck and I hope the noise doesn't come back!" So refreshing and I'm so grateful to have found an honest and reliable plumber. read more

I was very very impressed with Gary--he gave me all the information I needed to prevent future problems and said to call him any time with questions. Ray's Plumbing was recommended by a neighbor. I had a bathroom sink dripping from the faucet & under the cold water handle. Gary the owner showed up took a look at it turned off the valves under the sink & told me I needed a new faucet. Which meant I would need to buy "Two" new bathroom faucets because I have two sinks & the faucets that are there now are discontinued. I also had very low water pressure in the kitchen faucet so I had him take a look at it also. He checked the pressure under sink & told me the pressure was O.K. & the problem was most likely something stuck in the pipe line to the faucet which was blocking the hot water pressure. He said I needed to buy new kitchen faucet & to call him when I got all three faucets & he would install all three for $110.00 each. I asked him how much I owed him & to my amazement he told me $110.00.(Probably his favorite price) I didn't say anything & paid him. I was almost positive I didn't need a new faucets in my bathroom. I took the handles off & took out the valve stems, took them to home depot & replaced them. Both leaks stopped immediately. However, he was correct about the kitchen faucet even though it was replaced three years ago & was fairly new. I did need to replace it. The water in San Diego is terrible. I should have stuck with my usual plumber "STRAIGHT LINE PLUMBING", but was not patient to wait a day. They are very honest & only charge you for what really needs to be done, & don't try to rip you off & make money for something that can be a quick fix. As Holly B said in her review, I am baffled that he had the nerve to charge me $110.00 for a 15 minute call & doing absolutely nothing. read more

I called Rays plumbing 4 years ago after having a back up in my shower drain. Gary was the man that showed up At my house, he was nice, helpful and fixed my problem. He has been my go to plumber for things around the house since then. However, since he was here this past February, for the first time in about a year, I had him fix a few things such as the leaking faucet he installed In my kitchen, due to it completely becoming unattached from the counter, an issue with a rubber pipe from my hot water heater, and a toilet handle not working properly. ( I was a little surprised he charged me for fixing the faucet he installed but paid it and said nothing ) I called him 2 weeks later about a drip in my bathtub and he told me I should wait a month to see if it stops. When I called him back a month later ( since it hasn't stopped and water was literally going down the drain) he told me he was out of town the next 2 weeks. After several attempts to call him without a return call, 5 more weeks passed by with my tub slowly dripping water... But he's still unavailable. We go back and forth some more and now it's June and finally able to come by. Not only does he charge me 150$ to fix a toilet handle, put in new sink handles (25 minuets total) he tells me he will not turn off my main water shut off because of the fear of what's in there. I then take off my heals after working all day, grab a shovel and try and clear the area myself.. He says no still! He tells me he has another appointment and can't install a shower head and leaves. Takes my check, leaves 2 problems behind and goes to his next job. He gives me no revisit and to this day I Have tried to reschedule and have to be the one to call him. He was going to come this Tuesday between 2-4, calls me at 1:45 saying he is on his way, but I am at an appointment and can't be home for 30 minutes. I give him my gate code and access to my home when I'm not there because I just want him to fix what he started. He goes to another job, says he will come after that at 5:00. No show, no returned call, and attitude when I ask him when he will call me back or return! His response.. "I'm unable to sorry " Do not do business with these people! I'm just simply baffled. They Take your money and treat you so poorly. read more

Great service, reliable call-backs and communication (which you don't always find anymore) and totally affordable! You can't beat it. I even got a "Thank You" card in the mail after my service. I called other companies just because the short notice meant Ray's couldn't come out right away and I couldn't even get a call back. Oh we had a great experience with Gary, who was recommended to us by the super nice friendly folks at The Warm Hearth. He went to put us a gas line on our big 1950's masonry fireplace and did a great job with no hesitation. You know drilling on masonry or hardwoods floors gets you only one chance. I had a few jobs around the house and Ray's had some good reviews so I figured I'd give it a shot. I left a message requesting an estimate since I've had bad experiences with plumbers in the past. Gary called me back that same afternoon and was quite pleasant. He went through a few pricing options over the phone, and even gave me the option to buy the pieces a head of time so he wouldnt have to charge me for parts. When he came over, he started in the kichen installing a new faucet. Then moved on to fixing 2 toilets. I bought a house in UC built in 68, and it needed a lot of work, I hired Gary to come in and help with the many plumbing problems I was having. Gary came in fixed the toilets,water heater. and even ran a gas line to my fireplace "way cool" then when we found that it took forever to get hot water to the upstairs bath rooms he put in a watts unit on the water heater to send hot water all the time, works great. he is knowledgeable, the nicest guy and honest. you couldn't go wrong using him for any repairs. Use Ray's Plumbing on 9/26/2017 just to install a Kitchen Faucet that I had already bought, so I just needed it installed. Cost was 363.87 it took an hour if that, what a rip off. I would not recommend at all and then they try to sell you maintenance another rip off, but the service person did a great job. read more
