You can smell all the fresh goodness from the parking lot. Looking at the store, with its faded paint, it might not look like much but its definitely the drop in spot. For anyone, there's everything from cakes to sweets and various savoury snackage. I was more than tempted to buy one of Jacobs' well-loaded cheese and bacon rolls. That was until I was the holy cabinet stocked with a massive rage of meat pies. I chose a pepper steak pie and relished in my choice of nosh. The meat was chunky, the gravy was thick and there wasn't an overbearing smash of pepper on my palette. Everything was just in tune and balance with each other. By time you have read this, Jacobs will have moved out of this store, however its only moving two doors down and into a bigger space. Get at it.

They are now conveniently located in the Geebung complex of shops, right across the road from the Geebung Train station. Pop over for a quick coffee before heading to your train, or grab a pack of biscuits on your way to work and surprise your office :) There is plenty of parking in front or up the side street. The owners, Paul and Annie make a range of delicious, melt-in-your-mouth biscuits made with real butter, not margarine. You can taste the difference. Not only do they have this Espresso bar and retail store, but they also sell their biscuits to wholesale clients. Their shortbread sell in 12 packs for $7 and 24 packs for $14. If you stop in for a coffee you can grab a couple of individual biscuits to enjoy there. The flavours on offer are always changing, but some of my favourites are Thai Banana & Manuka Honey, White Choc & Macadamia, Strawberry Chia Seed and Lavender, Quince & Lemon. Shortbread biscuits are their speciality, and they also sell Melting Moments, Petits Fours and gluten free Macaroons.

My husband loves the high fibre white loaf, but unfortunately they only sell this type of loaf on weekdays and not on Saturday. The loaves of bread at the front of the store are all thin sliced, if you prefer thick sliced loaves they are behind the counter and you have to ask for them specifically.

Their loaves of bread are the let down for me. The other bakery around the corner makes really soft bread, where as the bread loaves from Ray's have a hard crust. They also sell a big range of meat pies, sausage rolls and pasties, as well as mini pizzas and savoury bakery goods. A quick and easy snack or lunch if you're in the area. If you have a sweet tooth, try a Chocolate Mouse - a rich, dense mud cake shaped like a mouse, covered in a chocolate shell. Amazing! They also sell a variety of other bakeries sweets including caramel tarts, lamingtons, Danish pastries and scrolls.

We chose a feta and spinach roll and a pork and fennel sausage roll to share. Unfortunately, both were underwhelming. The pastry in each case was soft and greasy rather than crisp and flaky. While we understand that arriving late in the day can affect freshness, the fillings were also disappointing. The spinach and feta was overly salty and lacked texture, and the pork and fennel filling was a smooth, pink, salty paste with no discernible pork or fennel flavour. At $9.40 each, the quality didn't justify the price--we would have been better off buying frozen sausage rolls from the supermarket and baking them at home.

Yesterday 24/4/14 the woman behind the counter made a conscious effort to put the coins under the notes hoping I would slide them straight into my wallet.... Nope, you missed a two dollar coin.... Again. Be wary of these people as you would most small shops that have cash only trade... The loaf of bread tasted like it was already two days old just to put the icing on the cake.
