It says in bold red letters on the outside of Rays Patisserie that they have been awarded for having Queensland's best pie, sausage roll and cake. I wanted to test this out. So I went in and bought one of their said award winners, the sausage roll.
It wasn't big, so I was expecting a big flavour, something to make me go, "hot damn, this IS the best sausage roll in Queensland". Without the addition of tomato sauce, because I was basing my experience on pure sausage roll excellence, I bit in.
The pastry was all buttery and flaky and the guts a nice mixture of meat and whatever else was in the mince. I finished it and was satisfied that I had eaten a sausage roll. The best in this great state, I don't know. To be honest I have no idea how they judge these competitions. Still, it wasn't aweful. read more
