I came here only for a Vehicle Safety Systems Inspection (VSSI / Brake and Light), and I'm extremely happy with the service. I had called around to other shops beforehand--most were quoting higher prices and saying it would take a full day or even two to complete the inspection. When I spoke with the owner over the phone, he confidently told me the inspection usually takes ONLY about 30 minutes. And he was right! The first time, my vehicle didn't pass due to a manufacturer safety recall. I wasn't even aware of. The tech caught it right away and explained everything clearly. After I got the recall taken care of at the dealership, I returned a week later, and they charged just $50 for the re-inspection, which was more than reasonable. I originally paid $250 out the door, and even with the second visit, it was still a great deal compared to other places quoting $350+ and requiring the car for a whole day. The process was quick, smooth, and honest. If you need a VSSI or Brake and Light inspection, this is the place to go--efficient service and fair pricing. Highly recommend! read more

I just tried Ray's for an oil change for the first time. They quoted me $84. at the counter when it was completed my bill was for $123.33 I asked what the additional cost was for they told me it was for a safety check. I did not request a safety check nor did they tell me I would be charged for one. I will not return to Ray's and will not recommend them. read more

I came in to get a simple calibration done with my interlock device. I came in and expected it to be the same as always 15 min in and out. When I was waiting for over an hour and a half for them to tell me that he couldn't help me. He had no idea what he was doing and caused major issues. They will quote you one price and when you return you will owe WAY more. They will not call you to get authorization to do extra work. They will just do it, charge you for it, and expect you to pay when you return. They will hold your keys and your car hostage until you pay. Work that was done previously on the same car by this shop is starting to come unraveled. I'm not interested in returning to them to have it fixed under warranty because who knows how much they will charge me for that. Jose is a pretty good mechanic but the other workmanship is poor. If you do go here get your estimate in writing. Do not allow them to do other work without your approval. Overall there are other shops to go to in Fallbrook. read more

If I could give this place zero stars I would! I walk into this joint and the inside smells so foul smells like there's mold in there. I go to sit down on the couch as there is no one to greet me in the front for 10 minutes. As i go to sit down I am applauded at the seating area as the couches look like they came from a dump. One couch smells like pee and I immediately get up and just stand there and wait. I wait another 5 minutes for the owner or staff to come out and right off the bat are extremely rude people. I have been here before and never experienced this, how can you be in customer service and be so rude to your customers. This place must be under new management because it was the worst experience I have had with car services. I left without getting anything done on my car because of how unprofessional these people ran this place. Let me just say before I left I did have to use the restroom. Restroom had pee all over the floor and there were roaches everywhere. I am writing this review to save others people's time so they don't waste there day off like I wasted mine. read more

I hate giving horrible reviews, but these people deserve it. If I could give 0 stars I would. I went in for one of their '10 minute' oil changes and I was there over an hour waiting. Here is the story: I asked if they had the '10 min' oil change, and they assured me that they did. There were no other cars there, so I said OK, lets do it. As I am waiting and the time drags on, I can see that they are looking for something in my engine. It was obvious they dropped the oil cap in the engine. The lady finally came back and told me what was happening after 40 min. Then she said that they ordered a new cap. I was not about to drive off with an oil cap somewhere in my engine compartment, so I told them they had to find it. There is no AC in the waiting room, and it was really hot waiting. Another 20 min goes by, and they said they found it. I asked if they would refund some of my money, and this set the man off. He started yelling at me and being very rude. The women knew that a refund of some sort was appropriate, but she would not go against the man. She looked really embarrassed by how the man was yelling at me. I did nothing wrong. Their service did not meet what they were advertising. Their prices for an oil change are extremely high, but I thought if they can do it in 10 min, I will pay extra for it. I left with a very sour taste in my mouth. I would steer clear of this business, they are toxic and will treat you horrible for their mistakes. I will never go there again and I suggest you steer clear as well. There are so many great mechanics in Fallbrook, go somewhere else. Don't make my mistake. read more

This is with no doubt the worst place you could ever take your car to get anything done! They kept our car for three and a half weeks and cracked the head and ruined our vehicle and then had the audacity to laugh about it! We are now having them investigated by the Bureau of Automotive of the State of California there is so much more that they did to our car it is unbelievable keeping our car for three and a half weeks after telling as we would get it back in four days because they ruined our engine please don't go there!!!! read more

Just be carful! I have a diesel truck which requires special oil cj-4 15w40.. they put regular 10w/30 in my truck and when I returned to question it they tried to assure me it was the correct oil despite what the sticker in my window said (10w30) and despite what the receipt said (10w30) I asked them to drain and refill and they refused. He was willing to take the risk and told me he had good insurance. So after demanding it for 30 minutes I left, bought the oil at Oreillys and did it myself. read more

I was quoted one low price but then I was presented with a bill for $65.24: $20 for oil change and Safety check, $19.99 Castrol GTX ultra clean for which I DID NOT ASK, then $22 for the air filter that my husband had just changed 2 weeks ago, incl. tax: Total $65.24, even the dealer will do an oil change and wash your car for $24.99 or less. BEWARE... Bait and Switch! I called requesting the cost of a synthetic oil change for a 2010 Camaro. An Asian man hastily quotes $68.95 and states there's no wait and to come now. So I do. Within 10 minutes of dropping my car off, he says I have a different kind of oil filter and says add $10 more. I reluctantly agree but frustrated that I have to pay more. 20 minutes later he says my car took an extra quart of oil and to add another $10. What am I supposed to do at this point. I say OK but expressed my great disappointment considering I called specified my vehicle and he quoted a price. He claims he didn't know. I called his bluff. The Asian guy (says Oscar on his shirt) has worked there for 10 years plus. He knows cars and knows exactly what it takes for a 2010 Camaro. I walked out of there having paid $95 for an oil change. I know synthetic oil changes cost more, but that is out of control. I WILL NOT RETURN TO RAY'S INSTA-TUNE AGAIN. YOU BURNED A LOCAL CUSTOMER. Oscar pointed out to me I'm not paying anymore than anyone else, so I wouldn't think he was gouging me. That's not the point. I called requesting a quote, made it clear what car I have and he used the ploy of "yea yea $68.95, you come now, bay open, no wait" knowing what my car takes and would increase the costs once he got my car in the shop. On 12\11\15 went in for oil change. Filled out work request and wrote Oil, Lube and tune, a $29 procedure. He charged me $40 as he did the premium oil change. I told him I did not ask for that and pointed out in my work request I requested the basic procedure and explained my rights as a consumer it is his responsibility to inform me of extra work prior to performing said work. He seemed confused and insist I pay higher amount. A few minutes of bickering and he disappears for a few minutes. He comes back and only charges me the lower rate after more haggling. I leave the shop and on my drive home notice the check engine light on in my vehicle. My code reader at home would not work to check error but it worked in my second vehicle. I would like to believe there was no malicious revenge from this owner so I am left with massive mechanical negligence. I express my displeasure in his service, to his credit he offered to look at the vehicle but that shop will never touch any of my vehicles again. Follow up, I now have a slow oil leak from my truck. Guess tightening fittings is not one of his specialties either. read more
