Chris said he would call me back to arrange delivery, no call. I waited a week, called him and he never called me back. This was 3 weeks ago, I will no longer use them if this is acceptable behavior from the President of Ray's. read more

We called rays to replace our dryer hoping to support a local business instead of going with Home Depot's/lowes- big mistake. Their communication was initially great but after a couple days they were completely unreachable. They came to install the dryer and said they can't get it up the stairs and told us to take it apart on our own so they can bring it up the stairs for us at a later date. Eventually after much drama and many days without a dryer, they decided they actually COULD get it up our stairs. When they installed it the dryer it didn't work. We called them back and they kept saying if they came out to repair it and it was our fault they would charge us for the service visit. When they finally came out they determined that there installers shut off our gas line in TWO PLACES during the installation and forgot to turn it back on. It took us 2-2.5 weeks to get a working dryer from start to finish. We will not be using rays again. read more

absolutely the worst. I bought a refrigerator, a washer and a dryer from them and paid for delivery. There were massive dents in both the fridge and the washer, the dryer door was installed the wrong direction, the refrigerator doors were installed incredibly uneven to the point we had to get someone else out to fix it. the cake on top is that the dryer stopped getting hot about a month after it is was delivered. The repair guy - not from rays- explained it was due to an incorrect installation and attachment of the power unit. I have called several times to get money back and inform them of these issues and they have repeatedly failed to call me back or address them. Do not purchase anything from them, they are careless and are not interested in actually helping their customers once they take your money. I'm writing this to warn others. read more

What was once a good store has deteriorated into high pressure sales mill intent on selling you what they have rather than helping you get what you want. My family bought many appliances there over the years but no more. Will be replacing a range bought there about 20 yago soon and it will be a big box or other appliance shop for price, availability, customer service advantages. Shopped there for the last time for an over the range micro-hood and had specific specs in mind re: size, power, brand, etc. sales-jerk tried to sell me anything but. Nepotite "management" is awful. We had a problematic top loader Whirlpool washing machine with a clear lid and removable agitator - slow, extremely noisy, and did not thoroughly wash contents with excessively complex controls. Researching our options we picked a Speed Queen, and were delighted that Ray's were a local vendor. The purchase was a pleasure, as was the installation. Everyone at Rays was professional, knowledgeable and friendly. The Speed Queen is great. Quiet, quick (half the time) and reliably cleans thoroughly. The controls are simple and intuitive, as if designed by a real human being. We will be shopping at Ray's for all our future appliance needs. Highly recommended! read more

Although the sales person who helped us at Ray's was very nice, he did not discuss the installation costs for our dishwasher with us. He gave us the name of the installer who we assumed had an arrangement with the appliance store. We have had many appliances installed over the years and the cost was always reasonable. The install took about twenty minutes and we were charged $225 plus another $70 for a water line and an electric plug. The total was more than half the original cost of the appliance. With prices that high, we should have been told how much it would cost and whether there were other installers who might charge less. It left us with a very negative impression of this business and going forward we will shop elsewhere. read more

Our washer stopped working on us after 15 years and the cost to repair was not worth it so we decided to try Ray's for a new washer. There is a reason why Ray's has been in business for almost 80 years. The service was good and selection fine, but I was not told my dryer was on back order for over a week. The date of delivery kept moving back until we received it a month after we purchased it. The delivery driver was late after sitting around for over 2 hours waiting for them. Then they break my steps and don't say a word to anyone and just leave. Chris, whoever he is, is very rude. I asked to be compensated for all of this and he said he would give me my removal fee back, which was a lie. Now I'm dealing with Max, who is supposed to fix my steps. We'll see. They come when they are scheduled to show up, they call before delivery and the two delivery/install guys were the nicest, most professional! dressed in neat Ray's shirts, they did the dryer delivery and install in 20 minutes. We went to buy a microwave. We asked for Bosch as all Of other appliances are Bosch. The salesman told us they didn't have those to look at but they had ge. This is what his daughter has.. who cares. We could not have the ge one today but could pickup the following week. We asked if it could be delivered and because it was under $300 (on sale) no delivery. Super yes we'll come next week. Annoyed as ours broke and we wanted to have it taken care of over the weekend. We asked about the warranty and he told us don't bother it's a cheap one you can just but another one of this breaks ... like what ? They have a sign for warranties at the counter it was $20. When we went to pickup the following week the same sales guy acted like he didn't know us and was unsure of the microwave was ready but yeah dude you called it's here. Moral of the story avoid. Go to d and k in Newtown square. They will give you options and are far more honest than whatever rays is trying to pull. read more

But, our refrigerator decided to die on us NOW (after 16 yrs!) and Rick came through for us in a huge way! Everything was quick, easy, so professional and accommodating. As we arrive at the busiest shopping season, look no further than Ray's for all your appliance needs - backed with actual customer service and sales support. My review is a bit overdue from my Washing Machine purchase this Spring. After a failed attempt at buying from a nearby 'big box' store, I stopped into Ray's (which I should have done first). I had already done my product research, but the staff had additional insight and recommendations. With no pressure, I went home and did my own product research and lo and behold, the Whirlpool Washer recommended was rated as good as the brand I was originally considering. Ray's agreed to almost match the big box store price (as in a variance smaller than 5%), but for the difference, in return I received SERVICE and DELIVERY performed by Ray's staff - not a 3rd party delivery service. It's important to note that my prior attempt of a purchase from a big box retailer resulted in the 3rd party delivery team arriving 3 days late then stating they could not carry it to the basement because it was "heavy". Needless to say that sale was cancelled and the big box retailer didn't even care. Once my Ray's purchase was delivered, the store called, we set up a convenient delivery time and the team delivered as scheduled. The delivery team of two disconnected and removed my old washer and delivered and installed my new one without a single complaint about the tight space and basement delivery. They were exceptional - so much so, I gave them a tip for their top notch service. I cannot tell you how EASY and EFFICIENT this purchase experience was for me. Wanted to support small bussiness. Bought our washing machine there, came broken after they installed it, didn't work so they ordered a new one which was inconvenient because we had to wait a few weeks for it to come in (they didn't offer any type of compensation for the inconvenience even though part of the reason we bought that particular washing machine was because they had it in stock but okay, we let it go ) and it's worked fine ever since. A couple of years later bought all of our new kitchen appliances there. The dishwasher has stopped working ONE year later, called Rays there response was basically that there is nothing we can do since it's one month over the year warranty. Really? Nothing you can do. You sold us on this dishwasher saying how great it is, etc. Their response, we don't make the product. Yes but it's only a month passed the warranty, literally one month, and we bought all of our appliances from you. Nope, sorry here's GE's number. GE wants to charge $115 just to come out and look at it. Our brand new dishwasher. Awesome. Real great customer service, thanks Rays. We will never buy from Ray's again. I have purchased a couple of appliances from Ray's over the years, and I have always had a good experience with them. I like being able to support a smaller business, and they happen to have great service. I recently purchased a competitively priced washing machine, and I was able to find exactly what I wanted with no "high-pressure" from the salesperson. In addition, delivery went so well with great communication, courtesy, and professionalism. I know from experience that the big box stores sometimes don't do everything you would expect during a delivery, so that's another reason to work with Ray's. read more

There's a reason Ray's has been in business for over 75 years. They are not just a great destination for any appliance that you may need, they are good neighbors as well. I recently purchased a dryer from Ray's and ultimately wound up having an issue just 3 weeks after taking delivery of the unit. This was a manufacturer's issue to be sure...but despite the fact that the unit was still under a generous 5 year warranty, resolution of my issue was not easy. I asked my salesman, Rick (who is excellent and most knowledgeable) if management could get involved on my behalf. The next day I was contacted by the owner, Chris. He immediately interceded on my behalf with the right people, and was able to solve my issue in a matter of days. I have never received that kind of "successful" attention and quick follow-through from any other retailer that I've ever dealt with before. In the end, appliance prices and selection are fairly competitive everywhere you might go, including online. The difference with Ray's is that there is a hands-on owner who actually works in the store...and wants you, the customer, to be pleased with your total experience. That's how you stay in business for so long. That's why Ray's is my only destination for anything that they sell and I need. You'd be wise to put this review to the test. I went to the store and spoke to the same gentleman. He answered my questions but I felt like I was boring him. He was very short with me and I could tell he didn't want to answer my questions. I am very sorry to say that I was treated unbelievably rudely today by the installation mgr. after calling this morning to report problems I had with the installation of 2 appliances earlier this week. The installer not only broke my granite counter top but then failed to show up on two separate days to do the promised repair ( this morning was the 2nd no show with lame excuses after I called him inquiring where he was). He claimed he warned me that the granite could break, his young co- worker, who was alone doing the removal while the installer remained out in his truck, warned me as he was breaking it that the granite that it could break. It was only at this point that he called in the installer to help him. I thought I was pretty understanding that with an older kitchen that someone else had installed things can happen and I was just concerned with him making a good repair as he explained to me that he could and would return early the next morning to do. He never showed up and when I called the # he left with me he said "oh, I don't have any installations today so I figured I'd come on Fri. first thing instead". He would not have let me know if I hadn't called. Sure enough he never showed up this morning again and when I called he said he forgot to put the necessary repair item on his truck and that he could come Sat. morning first thing. At this point I was pretty skeptical that he would ever show up and I didn't feel I needed to get up early on the weekend for another failed attempt. At this point I called Ray's to make sure they were aware of what was going on. When I received a call back from the installation mgr. he said the best he was " late coming into the situation" and all he knew was what he was told, implying that the installer's version of events was different from mine and he was going with that. He offered me a time slot next Mon. for the repair, and each time I told him that I wasn't satisfied with those arrangements he got ruder and ruder calling me lady and going into his broken record routine with " all I know" business. I have purchased all my kitchen appliances from them in recent years and I feel that they should have much better customer service and they would be losing me as a customer. As hung up abruptly he said "that is your prerogative"! 75 years of delivering unparalleled value and service..provide our customers with the support they are looking for....I think not! read more

Wonderful experience, I came in knowing what I wanted and they quickly set me up, free of charge, for delivery of my washer and dryer. Delivery guys called because they were running a couple hours early which after a week of having no washer I was thrilled about! They were really neat and efficient, set up my new machines and hauled out the old in less than an hour. Even asked for an old sheet to protect my carpet from the dirty undersides of my old machines. We ended up picking out a great new GE French Door fridge and the price was comparable to a bigger chain store, which was also surprising.
