I've been going to Dr. Castro for over 10 years now. He convinced me to get braces. He redid a crown and I needed another crown for a chipped tooth. Recently, I thought I might need a root canal. He was extra careful and referred me to a specialist to be extra sure that I didn't need it at this time. I found his office on Yelp and I can say I have no complaints about the dental work. In the beginning, the front desk staff seemed to have a lot of turnover but recently it runs like a well oiled machine. They're popular so I suggest you make appointments in advance unless you have an emergency. read more

We had to make the switch to this office about a year ago because my son's previous dentist dropped Delta Dental from their network. My son sees Dr Castro and he is an excellent dentist for the kiddos. My son recognized him as a dentist who made a visit to his school to talk about teeth and it's very easy to see why he's so popular with the little ones. But I've never had such a difficult time to schedule/reschedule an appointment before. I always feel like I have to take time off work or pull my son out of school or wait another month or more. Their hours are terrible. The 7am Fridays would be great if we lived closer but we'd have to leave even earlier to get through traffic and then there's no guarantee we'd be finished in an hour to get to school on time. 2pm closure on Fridays is crazy. And they close at 3pm on Tuesdays and 5pm on the other days. They are always booked solid so good luck if your child gets sick. read more

I found him through great reviews and I definitely understand the hype! I have recommended him to my family, friends, and hope he will still accept new patients once my newborn is old enough for dental services. The rest of the staff was nice as well. If I could give 0 stars I would. I switched insurance before my appointment back in April and I called them to confirm that they took my new insurance before the appointment. I was told they did, they took down the information and I was told I was all set. I just now received a bill in the mail for $245.00 which I was confused because I have dental insurance, I called them and they told me that the reason for the bill is because their office is not in network with my insurance. I specifically called to ask this before my appointment and was told it was. I will never be back and will be looking for a new dentist. read more

I've been going to Dr. Castro's office for years, but (thanks to the pandemic) today was my 4 year old daughter's first visit. Despite all my reassurance and preparation, she was terrified. She screamed and cried and pleaded the entire car ride there. Luckily, as soon as we walked through the door, she was greeted by the lovely staff who knew her by name. They let me sit in the chair with her and were very comforting. Dr. Castro, himself, was very sweet and disarming. He knew exactly how to talk to my daughter and get her to laugh and engage with him. Last August I cracked my back tooth on an olive pit at a friend's birthday dinner. Luckily they were able to get me in the next day for a crown as the tooth was completely cracked. Last Friday about 3pm I was using my water pik and the crown came off. I drove to the office and they were closed. I called the after hours number. I got a return call from Dr. Castro in about 20 minutes and in another 20 minutes he arrived at the office to put the crown back in place AFTER THE OFFICE HAD CLOSED!! Dr Alderfer also returned my call and I told her that Ray was already on his way to meet me. I cannot say enough great things about this guy and the rest of the staff here. I've always received great care here, but this time is exceptional. I got horrible tooth pain this weekend & finally broke down & called all the emergency numbers listed on the voicemail. I ended up getting a hold of Dr. Alfeleder (sp?). She figured out I had a tooth infection. She called a prescription in for me for antibiotics which I picked up that night. Then, later that evening, Dr. Van Dyk called me back to check up on me even though he was on vacation! And in the morning, Dr. Castro called me too! Today I went in & discovered I hadn't been to the office in 4 years! (II didn't have dental insurance, so I kept putting it off. Super smart.) Anyway, Dr. A saw me today. She removed the dead part of my tooth & put medicine & a numbing agent in it. I'm still in a bit of pain, but it s so much better already! And she just called a little while ago to see how I was doing. I feel like my teeth are in good hands The office staff was really helpful too. They printed out the estimated expenses for my next appointment for a root canal & were helpful & understanding about my situation. 8/16/18 Very friendly, professional, upbeat and relevant establishment! More importantly they are extremely detail oriented and go out of there way to make you feel comfortable. If you have questions they have answers even if that isn't in there job description. My experience from the moment I walked in the door was stellar. Anne was inundated with calls as I walked in yet she took a moment to smile and greet me. And once she was done with the call she made me feel even more welcome right away. Shortly after, Star opened the door with a bright smile and pronounced my name correctly as she welcomed me into room. There wasn't a moment of awkward silence it was like we knew each other for years. Starr is very good at what she does and passionate too. Then Dr. Jill came in and added to the comfort of my exam. Again very detail oriented about my gums and teeth and helping me understand what I had going on in this mouth of mine. It was a very pleasant experience to say the least. Afterwards Starr walked me out and gave me a Rose which was a surprise then BOOM Dr. Castro took some time to greet me and introduce himself. Ericha was so kind and helpful in planning my next appointment and displayed every bit of professionalism and compassion in helping me with the prime time and date. 8/20/18 Came in for a cleaning and the office was in full swing. (Always professional and "clean") So today I was greeted yet again with another great surprise "Ayako" who invited me into the office to begin my cleaning and it happened again! I went in for a temporary crown replacement for my mini implants. It was an emergency visit and I needed to get booked asap! I explained my situation to Stephanie and Ada and they were very helpful. Ada went above and beyond with my appointment. She went over all the information, the financial obligations for my visit, she remembered exactly who I was when I walked in, and also complimented me (toothless--haha). I highly recommend speaking to her if you can. Now lets talk about Dr. Castro...he is hilarious! He's young, hip, fashionable and of course, skilled in what he does. I felt comfortable with him right away. He was able to construct a temporary crown for me and was kind enough to trim my other crown down. He is a perfectionist. His assistant, Star, was also very kind. She kept me entertained while assisting Dr. Castro. You could tell his team is close-knit. If I weren't from out of town, he would be my dentist. Going to the dentist sucks. Root canals really suck. Paying out of pocket for a root canal DEFINITELY sucks. But this experience did NOT suck! I've never had a better experience at the dentist. Love this office and the whole staff team. They are very polite & they make the evironment very comfortable to be in. You can tell they love where they're working and who they're working with which gives off a calming vibe. Dr. Castro may be one of the nicest dentists I have ever visited. I want to preface this review to say that my family and I have been seeing Dr. Van Dyke for YEARS now. We knew him well before Dr. Castro joined the practice. We've only had positive experiences dealing with both Dr. Van Dyke and Dr. Castro and would recommend them as dentists to anyone in a heartbeat. The real problem that we've been dealing with when it comes to this office is Anne. Without beating around the bush: Anne can't bill insurance to save her life. For the past few weeks now we've been receiving bills for hundreds of dollars for services rendered at this office. The funny thing is we have not one, not two, BUT THREE insurances that Anne could bill in order to procure payment for said services. Has she contacted any of these insurances to do that? The short answer is no. We called into Dr. Castro/Dr. Van Dyke's office in order to speak with her about this outrageous bill, but we got this pretty lame excuse from her: "oh, I just started here a year ago and I haven't had time to process the payment. I've been so busy..." Ummm....excuse me? Last I checked, it's against the law to charge a patient for dental services if they have insurance to cover said services. That's the whole point of having insurance. Also, we've been going to this office for years without issue up until now, so what's the problem? Honestly, I empathize with Anne. I do. I've done medical billing for various offices before. I know from personal experience how much of a pain it is to deal with insurance companies. And we LOVE coming here for all of our dental needs because the staff is so welcoming, but we've been doing this whole "dance" with Anne for a few months now and it's starting to become tiresome and ridiculous. It doesn't take much to pick up the phone and verify insurance with an insurance company when a family has three to choose from. If this keeps happening it seems that, unfortunately, we'll be on the lookout for another dentist office. read more

He even explains things to my children to make them feel more comfortable. As soon as you walk into the office, you are greeted as you are part of the family and called into the back within minutes.
